  • **PRIOR TO WATCHING, PLEASE READ MY STATEMENT BELOW!**
    Today is Friday, 01/01/2021, the day I am uploading this video about my Jeep Gladiator issue. I'm going to list the timeline of event on this issue below, and update it accordingly.
    12/07/2020:
    Gladiator went to Courtesy Jeep in Grand Rapids, Michigan to diagnose the water leaking into the bed issue, which results in the cover freezing to the tailgate keeping anyone from being able to physically open the tailgate. The dealership advised that after a water test took place, they noticed water getting into the bed, so they tried to adjust the cover accordingly, but noted the cover is set just like it comes from the factory and that there is no other adjustments to be made. They noted that this cover is not waterproof, and recommended using petroleum jelly on the tailgate to keep it from freezing in the cold winter days in Michigan.
    As the next couple of weeks went on, more water kept getting into the bed, and the tailgate kept getting frozen shut. I had enough of it. I spent $54,000 on this Jeep and $500 on the upgrade to have this cover and all I have with this is issues.
    12/30/2020:
    I made a phone call to FCA Customer Service to report my issues with this. They notified me I would receive a call when they assigned a case manager to the issue.
    12/31/2020:
    FCA calls me back asking me about if my cover was something I ordered from the factory or if I had the dealership put it on. I told them it came from the factory. They confirmed. They proceeded to tell me that this cover is not waterproof and although it came from the factory the cover is treated as an aftermarket item and not covered under my warranty. After I explained the situation, she told me that the water leaking was a characteristic of this cover lol. She said they cannot control the weather or rain and therefore cannot control if water gets in the bed. I proceeded to tell her that at this point I'm past water getting in the bed. I'm over that issue at this point. I just want to be able to open my tailgate in the winter without having to use a dang screwdriver to pry it open every single time all because water keeps getting in the cover...She advised me to bring the Jeep back in to another dealer to have another water test done to get a 2nd opinion and go from there. I told her I would do that, but what ultimately needs to happen is they need to order a new one, install it and run the test again. If the new one leaks, then it's a design issue and we can go from there. If it doesn't, then obviously the cover that came on my Jeep was faulty and needs replaced from FCA. She proceeded to schedule my appointment for Thursday, 01/07/2021 at 8:30 AM. I will keep you all posted.

    • @jeepboyz12
      @jeepboyz12  Před 3 lety +1

    • @skatpk9196
      @skatpk9196 Před 3 lety

      @@jeepboyz12 It was raining, then it cooled off and started to snow. The temperature was below freezing.
      When I went to open the tailgate, it wouldn't budge.
      I had to go inside and get a slotted screwdriver to loosen the tonneau cover.
      I am not sure if there is a way to prevent the cover from freezing to the tailgate.
      Back in the 70's in Winnipeg winters, we would leave the doors, and trunk lid ajar for a few minutes after washing the car in the manual car wash. The water would quickly freeze, then we would shut the doors and trunk. We never had any problems by doing that.

      First off congrats on the Mojave! You’ll love it. We have a friend that has been looking at buying one, and we’ve went with them to help them in their search to find the one they want. They’re pretty awesome. If the dealer is giving it to you for free, it is what it is. I wouldn’t spend the $500 on the option myself again. Nothing ever came of it. No fix, no adjustment, and no customer service. They wouldn’t do anything to make it right. So I wouldn’t do it again. And yeah living there I wouldn’t even consider it if you have to pay for it. Not worth it. Look aftermarket. Don’t get me wrong. It seems and feels like a good quality product until it leaks and then freezes your tailgate shut.

    • @jeepboyz12
      @jeepboyz12  Před 3 lety +1

      Mopar and 2 different Jeep dealers wouldn’t ever replace or fix anything on it. They tried adjusting it but it never fixed it. So I’ve dealt with it with the water and ice but it’s warmer now so we haven’t had to deal with it. If I were you, I’d look into an aftermarket hard cover. I definitely wouldn’t let that alter getting a Gladiator though for sure! Let me know if I can help with anything else! And definitely let me know if you decide on a different cover!

    Have you had a problem with the back window leaking? My Gladiator Rubicon which stickers at $61,000. has a leaking back window. I have been waiting over three months for a replacement window which is backordered. I also called the Jeep Wave Program and was assigned a case manager who calls me once a week only to tell me that the windows are backordered and be patient. At the end of the call she always ask me "is there anything else i can do for you?", i respond yes, please find me a new window. I can not take the vehicle out of the garage when it rains here in New Jersey. A third party glass installer will be doing the install of the new window when it finally arrives told me he has seen several of these rear window leaks and feels Jeep should recall the vehicle to fix the issue. Love the truck, but disappointed that they can not correct simple problems like leaks!

  • @shmohsin-lasvegas
    @shmohsin-lasvegas Před 3 lety

    The root cause of all your problems with the cover is the lack of a tight seal. They should replace it with another one. It is a defective cover most likely, and not a defective design. Wish you all the best.

      Update!!!
      Sorry I’m just getting around to this. I took the Jeep back to the dealer for the appointment. They stated they saw what I was experiencing with the water getting inside the bed and on the end of the tailgate between the top of the tailgate and the cover and how that can freeze and cause it to be solidly shut. They tried to reposition the cover, but unfortunately it was set like it should be. The service tech tried to get the dealer manager to order a new one to test out to verify whether or not I had a bad cover vs this being a normal issue. The dealer manager declined his proposal saying the cover is working as intended...so I have since trucked on as is. I never did receive a phone call back from FCA to resolve this issue either. Now at this current moment, I have recently removed the cover due to building a bed rack for a rooftop tent for the summer, but after that is done, the cover will go back on until we’re ready to use the tent for any summer trips. So this is long but over for this issue. All I can say from this experience is that MOPAR makes really great products, but this is one that is not their best, and unfortunately they won’t back this product if it has issues. Looking back, I would have NOT ordered this option when I ordered the Jeep, and I would have gone aftermarket knowing what I have gone through with this one. 👍
