I knew you would be as amazed as I was when I discovered this.
I am a great fan of Barbra and didn’t think that Lara could be at her level.
But I discovered with this that she is better: Barbra never performed those 2 songs chained live and (afaik) never reached the emotion and interpretation on stage she exposed in her movie cut scenes.
I came to the conclusion that Lara is the greatest. She is peer to the vocal trinity when it comes to vocal skills then she is the best on the acting and performing, on the emotions conveying. Add to this her songwriting and languages skills…
Some context to this song:
- Lara is a huge fan of Barbra since she is a child and made a couple other covers (evergreen, memory)
- Barbra praises Lara a lot and also covered her song Broken Vow. She also had David Foster to organize a dinner with Lara to discuss her Je suis malade rendition.
- Lara’s parents were attending this show, celebrating their wedding 30th anniversary. Lara introduced this song explaining how her father gave her all his savings to fund her first record and told she would sing this one for him. You can see her looking at him during the song
- Lara slayed 2 other covers in the same concert: I will always love you and vision of love

Hello handsome! You do know who Egor Krutoy is. He is a composer from Russia. He works with Dimash and with Diana Ankudinova. One of the most decorated musician from USSR till today. There is a movie " Madsmuassel Jevago". Egor and Lara made together this master piece. Lara sings her own songs and Egor's. Watch it! There is about five or six songs-movies. My favorite " Mademoiselle Hyde". Quite graphic and yet unforgettable! Another of my favorite is " Carma". What a power!

Yes Igor has been working with Lara during more than 10 years and they created many songs together ( he composes and she writes lyrics) covered later by Dimash or Diana. They even created Your Love directly for Dimash

Greatness. That's the word. You would be hard pressed to find any of her live videos where the word greatness could not be used. Love your reactions to Lara. Former musician here. Been a heavy metal and hard rock player in my younger days and always been a fan of them. Stumbled upon a reaction video of Lara singing JeSuis Malade almost a year ago and been searching and finding videos of her ever since. She has completely changed my taste in music. Most of the time you can't understand one word that she is singing, but it doesn't matter. Her voice touches me like no other in the music industry. Also have to give a shout out to all the musicians that have been lucky enough to play for her. Every configuration of musicians, whether it's a 4 piece band, full orchestra, or a string quartet, are all great musicians and the music is as tight as her singing. To play for her would have been the privilege of a lifetime for me. Please keep reacting to this woman. She's the reason I subscribed to your channel, and I like your honesty.
The impact she has is amazing. But I have seen many metal fans fall for her: I guess her passion, sincerity and commitment to the interpretation is a commonality with metal bands that you usually don’t find with other pop or ballad singers.
Such an awesome story my dude! I tell people all the time that that's a testament of A GREAT ARTIST. A great artist can make you listen and appreciate their song no matter the genre! I have a similar background and been a musician for many years. No one has touched my heart as Lara fabian. She open up or maybe re open my love for more classical ballads and I love the full orchestral sound at her from Lara with love concert. Such a diamond, so delicate in every way.

I'm glad you picked this song which is probably one of the hardest to perform even with her skills. And not the most common people reacts to. Besides some slight out of pitch tones in the beginning (might be bad monitor, nervous etc) this is just an out of this world performance. It takes all out of an artist to sing this when it comes to power, different emotions, dynamic and you name it. Not many have the skills to do a song like this. She has!

Tommy, dont hear that out of pitch so much but look,at the beginning of the song, she is making a circular sign to her sound engineer about an issue (with the earplug?) and then she does kot make any sign anymore. He should have fix it on the fly.
@@ericsicard910 yes and all singer can be a little out of pitch sometimes. There can be some tension that you have to sing through and just open up the voice. Or as you say bad monitoring. What ever reason it happens to everyone and has nothing to do with bad skills. She is just phenomenal. A giant! Good choice Isaiah! Now you have seen one more side of her. And once again just pure perfection. Hard to imagine anybody else doing those two songs live like that...😁😁Not even Barbra herself. Lara is synonym to word perfection. It's interesting that power she possess, to transform a former rock/prog musician to listen and love this music. I would have never believed in late 70's when i first pick my guitar and started to play with some heavy music coming from my tape recorder, that i'd some day love french ballads...But she got my focus over two decades ago when i first heard her voice. And been on my knees since. And will be for the rest of my life.
But may i suggest one more different style of her catalog...Now that you've taken a little step back in time, perhaps some more in that era. From 1998 concert in Brussels. A song called "Dites-Moi Pourquoi Je L'aime". From her second album "Carpe Diem", year 1994. This live version is possibly Lara's most immense or breath taking vocal performance, it is just incredible. Almost acrobatic. Too bad the quality is not the best possible here. I don't think there is a better version around because it is not an official concert video. But it is not that bad. The link is below. I agree that “dites moi pourquoi je l’aime” poor quality video on CZcams is in itself also a gem because it demonstrated Lara ability to act without moving much and having fun at the same time.
