Market Profile Trading: How To Trade A Double Distribution Day Type | Axia Futures

A double distribution day type as seen on the market profile, typically has two defined areas of acceptance with an LVA (low volume area) separating between. Brannigan explains that with this type of day's trading, market participants are positioned one way or another until a catalyst creates a change that leads to an unwind of their positioning.
What creates the LVA is also what creates the following day's opportunity when looking to trade this market profile trading strategy. To take advantage of it, we first need to identify a line in the sand for where intraday positions will start to unwind.
Using an example from GBPUSD we see how the first half of the day spent time trading outside of the previous day's range, above the distribution day type. This implies long positioning before breaking back down to fill in the LVA. With stops being quick to trigger, we need to be able to spot the initiative entering the market.
