This trading strategy session looks at two variations of the open drive strategy with execution using the footprint chart. Brannigan notes that the key feature of the open drive strategy is that it takes place straight off the open of the cash market. Essentially this is caused by a large time frame participant having decided prior to the open to execute in one direction and needs the liquidity provided by the cash session.
A summary of the distinct variables to be aware of when executing the Open Drive Strategy are:
- Liquidity takers
- Delta accumulation
- Volume increases
- Price direction
- Waves determined by liquidity provisions
Brannigan then reviews two examples and variations of the open drive strategy in the S&P 500 from 17 September 2018. The footprint trading tool is of great value when executing this strategy as it helps determine which of two types of open drive are taking place.

I am an Opening Range specialist, and I see THIS without using these charts or data sets. I use Volume Profile and EMAs but I SEE this too. Great vid.
The discussion about delta here is great, really useful
Thank you for watching the video, we love hearing feedback!
Excellent and very thought-provoking video. I'm especially curious about the part where you show a bull flag ( a pause in the upward drive) and describe it as a lack of limit orders on the book. But if there were a lack of passive sellers there, and an abundance of aggressive buyers, it seems price would sweep even higher. Can you help me understand why it wouldn't?
Amazing thanks bro!
Cheers Jyayo!
around what time do you know that we are in an open drive market?
great teacher
Thank you so much for this continent
Happy to see great content about profile market :). What software do you use?
he is using "Market Delta" charting software, they have gone out of business but you can find other people that sell similar type charts some times called "bid ask" or volume delta or spread and market profile charts are pretty ubiquitous you will likely have to pay for brand Market Profile the generic version would TPO charts
