Pushing my BMW K 1300 S to Max Speed on German Autobahn (4k)

  • I thought 4 years after my first (and only) video with my BMW K 1300 S it is time to produce another one. This time you get presented the "First Person View", as I forgot to put an SD card in the rear camera. So this is just opposite to the last clip, where the front camera did not work. Nevertheless I made it up to 280,12 kmh (174 mph) in the second high speed run. Unfortunately during the fastest run before I had to fuel up with the speedo beeing at 285 kmh (177 mph) the VBOX was not activated : ( . And I even was not wearing a racing combo but my stupid touring combo which made me hang on the bike like Batman.
As I do not want to risk my life or other people`s life I try to keep riding legally, which means in Germany especially on the Autobahn not to pass people on the right side and not to get too close at higher speeds to the car in front of you. Also I do not ride with full speed into the turns, as there might be a car with a breakdown even on the left lane blocking your way. Just had that a couple of days ago. If you want to see real crazy bike videos go and watch the Isle of Man TT clips or just Max Wrist`s clips... But I highly recommend not to ride like this : ) . I hope you enjoy this clip and have fun watching it!
Bike: BMW K 1300 S model year 2015 with all options including quick shifter, I got the Akrapovic slip on exhaust (db eater mounted) and sports air filters and I always use +100 octane fuel. Otherwise the bike is completely stock.
Camera: GoPro Hero 9 with external Rode lavalier micro, second cam DJI Osmo Action with no cd card mounted, because of that no images from this cam and which is even worse no "clean" engine sound.
    GPS: VBOX Sport
    Lut: SpectrumGrades Chromatica

Wow, what an amazing video! Thank you so much for posting this! I absolutely love the 2009-2016 BMW K1300 S!
My father's new at the time, 2010 BMW K1300 GT felt very quick with 160 HP... Your K1300 S is lighter, it has 175 HP & and it has a very nice 103 LB-FT! That must feel really quick. My father then bought a new 2012 BMW K1600 GTL that he kept until he turned 81 in 2016. He gave up riding because most of his riding buddies either stopped riding, or died unfortunately. With all the texting and driving people are doing, among other distractions, that was the final straw for him. I certainly don't blame him. Anyway, sorry for the long comment... I will subscribe right after this comment. Safe travels,
    -Chris

Bloody awesome bike, ive sold my KTM 1190 Adventure and Blackbird to keep the K1300S, been looking for a suitable replacement for it and no matter how hard i try, there is nothing so a good thing, comfort, smooth power house, quick shifter and the best braking system ive ever had on any of my 125 bikes, ESA2 is sublime too.... Bloody hell that bike is running hot ! I can see your temp gauge is right at the top, My K1300s broke down a couple of weeks ago by overheating, turned out to be an air lock in the cooling system, be careful running at them speeds as they can just cut out without warning.. Great video though !!

    • @ttr6611
      @ttr6611  Před 2 lety +3

No it is not running hot, check the gauges at 20 seconds. You can see the temp gauge to your left beeing low such as the fuel gauge on the right. After fuelling up at 1:45 the fuel gauge on the right goes all the way up of cause. But the temp gauge on the left side is always staying exactly in the same low area from the beginning towards the end of the clip at 6:11. Temp goes only up while riding really slow in the city or while waiting in front of red lights.
But to be honest: while riding on the Autobahn I do not even look at the gauges any more. I am always riding at +130mph on the Autobahn if traffic and weather conditions are allowing it. I am mostly looking for other cars in front of me if they eventually could block my lane by changing from the right lane to the left lane. It is only when I see the warning light flashing that I would look at any gauges . . .

    Excuse me Sir.
I watched the movie several times but on the tacho you did' t trespassed 280 km/h. If your VBOX says 280,12 KM/h, I think that the tacho speed is the real speed. K 1300 S at this point would be the one and only motorcycle with this specific tachometer. Indicated speed is the real speed.
Moreover, I saw several movie where this bike reach in 6 gear 11400 RPM (295 km/h on the tacho).
At this point, according you wrote, and according for what I'm saying the REAL speed of K1300s is 290-295 Km/h.
What do the people reading this post are thinking?

You’ll eventually have the ABS pump fail. DO NOT buy a silly-expensive replacement with the same design fault, some places rebuild these pumps to better-than-new for 10% of the new BMW part. Otherwise, an awesome bike…still not parting with mine in the foreseeable future.

Of cause the road should not be to bad at this speed, but concerning the suspension this is not a problem, also due to the long wheel base of this bike. I got the adjustable suspension and I put in in sports mode for speed runs. You also should be aware of brigdes, not only because of the wind but also because of the expansion joints. I would recommend to check every street section at lower speeds before riding at the maximum speed. Even Max Wrist is doing this.
But as I was not using a racing leather suite, the wind was more of a problem, especially because the 2-piece textile suite I was using this day is to wide at the arms and the legs for this speed . . . I am going to give it another try next spring with a race suite : )
