He was considered a failure, severely abused, locked up, starved for months, basically had to fight for his life on a daily basis. Yet in the series, despite being one of the monster trio, he never actively trained to become stronger and his goal had nothing to do with power. He went through all that and still retained a kind and gentle heart.

The moment when sanji REALLY SHINED was during the whole cake island arc. I actually cried when i read what puddings last request was. I think the whole cake island story arc is the best, regardless of GrandLineReview's opinion. Based on his moral choices and how he reacted to his father's wishes, the drama and the roller coaster of emotions make me really think of this arc and this character as clearly one of Oda's finest creations

Note: The manga was way more dark than the anime. This was prominent during the arrival of the celestials in gray terminal, Zeff eating his own leg to survive, and of course when Sakazuki punched WB his face was actually cut to quarters revealing some of his guts. In comparison to anime, Zeff was stuck in an anchor and WB's mustache was just cut not his face.
Zeff and whitebeard is different case. They changed how zeff lose his leg because it was to make him more selfless and oda agreed. So, zeff losing his leg to save sanji is canon

Also that he didn’t get any redemption having getting beat from his brothers once more after his brother beat up the maid he was being kind to. I have a theory I don't know if it has been answered yet but here goes: In sanjis battle with vergo his leg bone gets broken in the process by vergo, in the proceeding arc when sanji battled doflamingo he faced a devastating defeat. I think this is due to sanji's broken leg bone which prevented him from using his full power. In the wholecake island where sanji completely overpowers oven with a never before seen technique I believe that due to enough time passing by sanji's leg bone was able to fully heal allowing him to use his full power without restraint.
KingFoofy I found it really weird how his leg’s bone just broke and nothing else ever was commented on it apart from the pain he left once after the battle with Vergo, if I think about this regarding what happened to Zoro with “nothing happened”, Sanji’s bone breaking pretty much rivals that scene in my eyes at least.

As a cigarette smoker myself (switching to vaping to quit smoking, it's tough), I don't think it's so much taste buds as diminishing your sense of smell which affects the ability to taste. Fortunately, if you quit smoking, you can regain your sense of smell.

Funny thing is he's become my favourite character when I saw him in opening. I knew it was going to be cool and strong character just from opening. He is the most well-written character in one piece
It's kind of crazy how the only part of his backstory that matters in the big picture is cooking for his mom and Pirate Zeff.

I think ppl often forget that sanji is a fighting chef
That’s what all the chefs in the Baratie had to be since often they would serve and get involved with pirates
So they had to all be strong to keep the peace
Fighting is a massive part of Sanjis character but unlike Zoro (who fights with a goal in mind)
He mostly fights with a reason to fight where to defend the honor of his cooking, food, ladies, his nakama or even his principles and random strangers
He is the fighting chef of the straw hat pirates

MHMD Not everyone can finish reading the entire details from books like children reading textbooks for schools for example. I still think Sanji might have looking through the entire book to see the powers of the Clear-Clear Fruit because he did said in Thriller Bark he wanted to use it to see Naked Women without getting caught. Besides that, Sanji does forget sometimes like the time when during at Nico Robin's rescue, Tony Tony Chooper's Warnings about his risk about Nose Bleeds, and some of the others as well.

@@joshualares8678 CP9 they all do Rokushiki and yeah you basically said most of them there's geppo, rankyaku, tekkai, soru, shigan, kami-e, rokuogan. That's all I can remember and each character has their own versions of each like you can have all different ways of using the rankyaku

You did a good job in mentioning his time line and his abilities but also an underrated ability would be his swordsman ship he holds compared to his intelligence as many characters are smart on the crew compared to luffy. Also that he didn’t get any redemption having getting beat from his brothers once more after his brother beat up the maid he was being kind to. I’m happy you mentioned how despite how Pervy Sanji is he would still be progressive in women’s rights compared to most of the people in the higher up positions.

happy birthday sanji!!! :3 looking back on the series i did always have a solid liking to the guy(as a kid he felt like a mix between ken masters and chun li to me.) that became love after seeing his past in whole cake(which kinda made me have a dark theory that maybe germa 66,judge or sanjis siblings are the reason nami became an orphan since its said they attacked an island in east blue. also i liked how oda confirmed that sanjis cake did effect big moms memories which might give the other strawhats better favor from her since she mostly has it out for luffy and its nice to see sanji get some positive outcome in his year since damn, luigi had a better lineup of positive events in the year of luigi than the crap sanji went through in the year of sanji.) also i loved the gag in fishman island of sanji having pictures of nami(especially that cute one of her pouting:3)robin(strangely none of boa hancock, her sisters, or the kuja. would be funny if she had one of granny nyon or kureha.), and even kokoro.(must of really been hell for him on okama island if he even had pictures of her.lol)

I have a theory I don't know if it has been answered yet but here goes:
In sanjis battle with vergo his leg bone gets broken in the process by vergo, in the proceeding arc when sanji battled doflamingo he faced a devastating defeat. I think this is due to sanji's broken leg bone which prevented him from using his full power. In the wholecake island where sanji completely overpowers oven with a never before seen technique I believe that due to enough time passing by sanji's leg bone was able to fully heal allowing him to use his full power without restraint.
KingFoofy I found it really weird how his leg’s bone just broke and nothing else ever was commented on it apart from the pain he left once after the battle with Vergo, if I think about this regarding what happened to Zoro with “nothing happened”, Sanji’s bone breaking pretty much rivals that scene in my eyes at least.

Damn, I never knew that Zeff disapproved of Sanji's smoking or what Sanji's favorite brands are. As a cigarette smoker myself (switching to vaping to quit smoking, it's tough), I don't think it's so much taste buds as diminishing your sense of smell which affects the ability to taste. Fortunately, if you quit smoking, you can regain your sense of smell.
