I'm short on moneh rn, and can't do shit in, like, the whole game because almost everything requires Forsaken(and didn't really see anything that required shadowkeep for some reason, excluding additional branch which is also obtainable with Forsaken).

Do ya think they shouldn’t have revealed Cayde’s death? Imagine everyone’s reaction when we see Cayde’s final stand then see his ghost go down.
Jeffrey Aguilar well, Destiny 2 was in a really bad state thanks the horrible Curse of Osiris expansion and the decent, but short Warmind. Cayde’s death and avenging him was the motive of playing Forsaken. If they didn’t show that then what would they show to make players buy it when the game was in a bad state?
If you’re referring to the cutscene where he fights scorn, they showed him dying in the E3 trailer.
Edit: right now the game is in a tough spot, season of the worthy is disappointing.
Edit 2: Season of Arrivals was great, but the additional few months really milked it dry. Beyond Light looks interesting.
As much as Cayde was one of my fav NPCs (Eris Morn will forever be my bias) and I will always mourn his death, I think it was important for the game's story. We never had to bury a friend or a beloved NPC in Destiny's history, we would never feel real sadness, disappointment or rage. Destiny hasn't given us any reason to become really emotionally entangled with the story or the fantasy universe. Cayde's death changed that massively. Forsaken had me dive deeply into the game. Before, I have never thought about reading lore or having an opinion about other NPCs, questioning what it means to be a Guardian and how this way actually forbids me to be emotional. I've come to pity Zavala for being such a coward, I respect Ikora more since she helped us in secret, I didn't chose the Vanguard but the Drifter for his always cringe jokes and I got totally fascinated with the pact between Eris Morn and Mara Sov. And I am keen on knowing what happened to Uldren and when we will meet him again as the Guardian he is now. All that would have never happened without Cayde's death.
@@Mondscheinstaub not to mention how important it was for the players to be misdirected thinking the expansion was going to be all about getting revenge for Cayde. It let Bungie blindside players with the real plot around Riven and the Dreaming City

I agree. The way the flashback played out it seemed like it was supposed to be a surprise he was going to die. With already knowing the outcome nothing really has an impact you're just waiting to get it over with.

@@vandal5101 Same, being a Hunter since the beginning plus Cayde being my top fave character since then made it tough. Yeah sometimes his antics were a gimmick but he was the comedy relief the world needed through all the death, darkness and horror...now that's gone...there is no replacing him. And this was extra painful for me seeing as Uldren, despite being abrasive and a dick, was my second favorite character in the series. Nothin like having one kill the other and then have your guardian kill them in return. Talk about having your feelings smashed to bits lol Oh and I almost forgot my 3rd fave character Variks who betrayed everyone by releasing the prisoners and made all this possible... *cries*

@@vandal5101 Yeah, I loved visiting the Reef in D1 and talking to Variks, but I've liked the idea of Guardians creating a truce and forming an alliance with some friendly Fallen for a long time, so I def was excited at the Titan mission where you get to choose to save Mithrax and how he reacts. I haven't done the other mission with him yet cuz I took a break from D2 during Y2. I hope we get other opportunities to work with Fallen. Besides Spider cuz he's too much like some Mafioso for my liking XD
I think a season dedicated to a new house formed by mithraax that fight for the traveler would be a great way to do it. Plus, with Zavala being Zavala and Saint-14 going on a literal crusade against them, it’d make for some pretty interesting story bits. I’d really want to see how saint reacts to a fallen soldier fighting for the Traveller instead of murdering us too. Hopefully he wouldn’t freak tf out

I like that the vanguard get to use ALL the subclass abilities.
When? Haven't seen Zavala use sunbreaker, Ikora sunsinger, dawnblade, or stormcaller, and neither have I seen Cayde use arcstrider, blade dancer, or nightstalker. The only guardian who can use all subclasses whenever they want is the player.

I've doubted my own comment since I impulsively made it. I think I was mostly referring to how Cayde used golden gun and then immediately switched to blades without having to wait for his super to recharge after switching.
Every guardian can use any subclass. That means that with enough practice and ingenuity a hunter can use nova bomb. Hunters learned how to use blink from Warlocks but instead of manipulating space they use their incredible speed

Okay lemme support Zavala's reason for not wanting to fight. So, during the Red War, Zavala admitted he needed Cayde and Ikora to fight the Cabal. To him Cayde is a brother in arms and he even said he admires Cayde's inspiration to others (I think that was Bungie way of saying "yeah we know Cayde's your favorite.") Now fast forward to Forsaken. Cayde's dead, and with that death, Zavala is now afraid. He's afraid of losing anyone else close to him and the best way he can think of keeping them safe is to simply not fight. Now with that said... Zavala is a little bitch not avenging his death, but I understand why he doesn't want to

Meh Whatevers I mean he has no reason not to basically charge the tangled shore himself. He is always about “oh I want to protect the city” and that he doesn’t see the barons as a threat but in warmind he went there himself because he saw Rasputin as a threat
Meh Whatevers He is the one who had to make the tough choices. He decided to take back the city even if it meant his own death. After regaining his home and losing so many guardians, he doesn’t want to lose anyone else or lose the city. So when He saw the dead body of his close friend, he probably was filled with rage and sadness, but he has to protect their home. He couldn’t let his anger control him. He could’ve gone full rage mode and send everyone to hunt them, but what if the vex attacked the city? Or the Taken. Or Calus grows some balls and launches a full scale attack while everyone is busy hunting in the reef? This was what was going through his head. He had to make the hard choice.

Best expansion to date! I have learned a few things from it:
Petra is awesome (voice actress was excellent)

These are the emotions I experienced from playing through the Forsaken story quests.
Sadness: when everyone mourns Cayde’s death.
Vengeance: when Zavala doesn’t want to do anything, and you decide to kill Uldren
Anger: when the first 6 barons are making fun of how they killed Cayde.
Doubt: when the seventh baron calls you a murderer no different than them, since you killed all of his comrades.
Doubt/regret: when the eighth baron sets out to kill you and during the fight, drives home further that you’ve killed his friends the same as they did to Cayde, asking you how it felt.
Pity: when Uldren is shouting “Sister, Help me” during the last battle, and you realize that he was being manipulated the entire time.
Goddamn: when the gunshot sounds

When the bad guys say "Oh look your bad to because your killing us!" My response is your escaped convicts that killed a guardian and then took over the Twisted Shore by force, you can take your pitiful attempts at a guilt trip and shove it up your ass.

I personally wasn’t really sad. I mean, cause is funny, but the stories never really try to tie in any emotional attachment to him. We’ve never learned like anything about him other than that he is funny. This was a pretty boring and stupid decision from bungie honestly; they killed the only character that livened up the story at all, and now it’s just even more boring
Jeydin Alejos You really have to go in and read the lore before you feel any attachment. That I think was a mistake they made- not allowing that lore to be accessible, but now they’ve fixed that. You can go into the menu and read the lore, particularly on Cayde, and it gives you a lot to digest. (Would have been nice to have this feature before this expansion, though, that’s true)
There were things I didn’t know about, like how Cayde’s past lives were Cayde 1-5. I think there is unlockable lore about those times that he lived before, based on the fact that Cayde says in a recording that documents of that exists, and that he wants you to discard it if you find it.
But anyway, you’re right: it definitely lacked attachment, but I think the decision was a move forward. To me it made things a little more real. I think It all depends on what the next story expansion builds upon whether or not it was a bad move. That’s all in my opinion, though, and I freakin love Cayde
yeah that's cool that they have it now, but they should try and include it in the actual game's story mode. I remember in destiny 1 i used to read quite a bit of grimoire cards, but while being interesting it was also kinda boring just to read them

Celliers dog off screen means you only hear about it happening through other characters or something along those lines. If you’re gonna be annoying and technical about it and say “you only hear the gunshot” then stfu. You see your guardian point the gun at him. You hear his final words. It’s enough, and it’s definitely not “off-screen”

Now, in my humble opinion, if the only thing the audience *can see* is a black screen, then it's safe to say it's off screen.

People complain about Ikkora and Zavala but I think Cayde's death gave them both especially Ikkora a lot of character development. Zavala actually lost a brother in cayde and that death made him not even want to fight. I'd actually like to see when they all became vanguard leaders.
Ichigo Kurosaki I find it really interesting yet very understanding of both characters. Zevala doesn’t want to start a war with the awoken because he knows we aren’t an army. We don’t have soldiers, we can’t conquer the reef or anything. All we have are guardians, and like the name insist, our job is the guard the city and the last of humanity.
At the same time, Ikora is overwhelmed with rage, she strongly believes retaliation is to come. The awoken and guardians have always had a mutual relationship and with the murder of cayde, that was a clear sign of aggression that should be followed up by with justice. I love the character development in this campaign.
@@peter2kx not only that, I agree Zavala understands their position as guardians, but when he says "I refuse to bury any more friends", he didn't want to start a war that could kill dozens more of his own allies. He'd rather save lives than send them to their graves for a fallen comrade.
Very powerful scene, what would us do in that situation? Protect like Zavala, or destroy like Ikora?

They did it because the voice actor for cayed 6 left for other opportunities atm so they killed him off for that note they didn’t like it more than we did and if he comes back they will revive him
And here I am, still sometimes having tears in my eyes when thinking of Cayde, still wearing his sign on my cape and forever shooting bastards with ace of spades (53.000 killings with it since the cat has allowed me to track it from Shadowkeep onwards).
Oh and btw 29:01 actually gave us the first hint that we have to rethink what it means to be a guardian. When we shot him it became clear to me that we are neither completely in the light nor completely in the darkness. We are in the shadows. And we have to be if we want to be able to fight future enemies. Basically Forsaken prepared us to accept the idea to use the darkness as well.

I know this is old but look up destiny 1 beta. Every character race and gender had a voice from really popular vas. Awoken was voiced by madara, exo master chief and i forgot about humans but the rumor is Peter dinklage was asking for too much so he spoke for us just to be changed by destiny 1 lifeline.

Cayde-6 was voiced by Nathan Fillion, but due to schedule issues, Fillion wasn't able to voice Cayde in Forsaken and Nolan North filled in his role as Cayde-6 and I am overall impressed over his work.
So yeah, Nolan North voice both of Ghost and Cayde-6 in this DLC :3

Nathan was better because of his charm. Nolan's just boring. Another reason this game so much of it's split fanbase is garbage when there's hundreds of videos on why its bad.
I just realized that uldrens devotion for his sister inspired him to be brave and fight the gardens that lead to his sacrifice to free his sister and that lead to his death. He went through all of the steps to become a garden all along. Devotion inspires bravery. Bravery inspires sacrifice. And sacrifice leads to death as the speaker put it

Can I point out how Cayde was basically the one character that made the game appealing. And that everyone loved him the most.

Thanks so much for this! The cutscene in Cayde's final moments with the Barons was very cinematic and amazing. Really good detail and work put in. Got to love Bungie's stories. So full of creativity and magic.
This expansion made it clear how far Uldren had fallen from grace-which makes sense why he allied with the Scorn-and really makes you question who is in the right, as well. When I first heard of this expansion, I was as consumed with vengeance as everyone else at the sight of Cayde's death. But, finally seeing it makes me wonder if it was worth it, in the end.
I liked how care-free Cayde was, even in his final moments. His last words made me respect him a lot more, as he did see his station as Hunter Vanguard as an honor, despite him wanting to get back out in the field. It'll be hard to fully accept he's gone, but he'll always be remembered.
Despite never liking the guy, I still felt pity for Uldren. It's obvious the death of his sister caused him to descend into madness and had, unknowingly, unleashed a servant of the Darkness in his insane quest to resurrect Mara Sov. If it was possible, I would've actually let him go. As the Ghost said, Uldren was finished-all of his followers are dead, he can barely stand, and is unarmed. He had no power, now, and thus wasn't worth it. He was a pathetic sight to see and he lost everything in a mad quest for a voice in his head he thought was Mara and his mind was too fractured to question why he was hearing her voice.
All in all, this was an amazingly emotional expansion and I am eager to see what they have planned next.

justin hitriz uldren to me the true manifestation of a guardian remember what the speaker said how you become a light bearer of the traveler bravery uldren showed motive and determination to save his sister, sacrifice he stopped at nothing to resurrect her even if it meant risking and losing his life, Rebirth now uldren has returned as a guardian after being revived by the ghost pulled pork who has been searching for its guardian even before we were resurrected, uldren in my opinion should be well he will be the next hunter vanguard because the vanguard dare say as whoever kills the current takes their place

I understand why people don't like Zavala... most human beings lack the mental capability (This does not mean you're stupid) to understand the reason behind his actions. Zavala is the character in destiny who makes the HARDEST choices in the universe, he could've chosen to abandon the city and start anew but he chose to fight back and reclaim home. He could've just thrown all guardians at the dreadnought and watched as they all failed but he didn't because he valued the lives of his troops and city. He could have gone off and killed Uldren by sending every guardian he has like Ikora said, and left the city undefended for petty revenge, but instead he chose to hold back on his anger and rage and defend those he swore to protect.
Zavala can still be your least favorite character... but please understand he has made the hardest choices of all vanguard members in destiny whereas Ikora prefers the easy way out. respect the man who does whatever is better for the good of all he protects rather than the man who seeks the easy way for personal gain.
That is one of the things that I noticed while watching these cutscenes. Though Zavala is my least favorite character still, you make a very good point.

Seems fitting the last word cayde said before he died was “lost”. He lost his son, his body, a bet making him join the vanguard, his life. He even made messages to a bunch of people he thought he might lose his life to. I don’t even know much about the lore or story but what I know about cayde it’s kinda sad.

@@eipccross5548 actually, the "repaired version" sounds the exact same as when Cayde had it. The reason I know it was Petra and not us was because the Ace has a distinct sound, ( the same sound you hear when you fire it and the same sound you hear when Uldrin shoots Cayde. ) Her gun is different, sounds different, and you don't hear the Ace when Uldrin is killed.
Uldren is one of my favorite Destiny characters (go ahead kill me) but this really shows how much a great character he is. I’m so glad his motive for everything was his sister and not something like eternal power or some bullshit. Honestly I think it would’ve been cool for him to realize quickly that the voice of riven is not his sister right as he summons it then the player shows up so your stuck in a battle where your forced to work with your worst enemy and then he gets away. That would’ve been cool.

If you read the LORE on Destinypedia about Riven she controls Uldren in order to free her from becoming taken. Since we killed him for killing cayde( a random casuality in Riven's Crusade to be set free) we we're sent to kill riven by petra herself which was all a plan according to riven.
