- In this video I give a full in depth tour of the 1984 Chevrolet El Camino Conquista. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

WOW! This thing sounds GREAT! love love love these! My grandfather had one before he passed in the early 90's. Some kids down the road ended up buying it for the engine to put in their "race car" and blew it right up. lol

Hell, get you one!!! They are not that expensive, unless you get a show car or something. I have a 1980 with a factory V6 in it and I drive it a lot, I've even taken it to work at the time it was around 95 miles one way!! Really wish it had OD. A four speed and I'd drive it more often

I've got a 1984 El Camino Conquista too. But mine has the clock gauge where this one has the "delete gauge", plus I have the optional 60 40 split bench with the velour seats.

@@tristar1908 the monte SS is so over done I think I mean I still like it but I'd do a Grand National look instead of a Monte SS put a 86 regal front clip on it... always thought that would be cool I've got a 1980 El Camino myself with a factory V6 3.8 has the Malibu front end of course

I saw a Ford Fairlane 500 289 2-door sedan out on the road today in a black color scheme, Kyle.
My parents had a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme wagon. It had the same dash, interior, body style, and the same 305 v-8. I think you will find it very underpowered. But we were still suffering from the Jimmy Carter EPA regulations. Look, 55MPH is highlighted in red.
Amazing car man really. I have a 84' El Camnio too, it came with a stock 3.8L v6 engine. I was wondering if it would be easy to swap it out for the 305 v8?

I really like this car. Very tasteful for a later el camino, not overly optioned so it's light, got all the expensive stuff in place, and fairly unmolested. Other than not being the 350, it's about as nice a start for a mild street bruiser as you could ask for.

@Supramaniac24 Yeah you are right...it is a 3 speed auto. I looked up the specs on this generation of the El Camino.
@saabkyle04 yea gm used 3 speed th-350 for the gas small blocks and th400 for the diesels and big block gassers. Even my old '79 suburban small block 3/4 ton had a 3 speed..that thing just screams on the highway.You can tell its a 3 speed because on the shift indicator thing in the guage cluster there is no circle around the D. The Circle around the d means over drive. I believe these had an optional 4 speed700r4.

I just looked at one of these today it was red at one point with maroon interior now it's flat black it had the spotlight with a 305 and crank windows it's almost exactly the same just more beat up

@saabkyle04 It says "D 2 1" right on the dash which indicates 3 speed. If it were a 4 it would have either said the "D" with the circle around it "3" "2" "1" or just "OD" 2 1.
Top gear UK did not place C4 under it.. That was the marauder :)

@w140fan actually the El Camino was first produced in 1959 and the Ranchero was 1957. I know this because I have a 1957 Ranchero that desperately needs to be restored.

I think its only a 3 speed. It only shows P RND21, from that time it would have either had a 3 in there or a (D) position before the D for "Overdrive". This one is really in good shape, whoever owned it before took great care of it.

Nice condition WOw! But I can't believe we use to drive cars with gauges so blank including the empty Tac or clock space. I could never drive that on a regular basis looking at that blank Dash! But nice shape :-)
@Seattlecarnut I have 8 American cars, they all have 4 speed automatic transmissions. Spanning from years 1974 i think to 2000. and 4 trucks with manuals and their 6 speeds. We also have a truck with a 3 speed on the tree manual.
