I converted to Islam , but I had no idea about these divisions .Someone called me a Shia, like he was trying to insult me .. It's nonsense, everybody is a muslim . But I notice that the sunny lectures are my favorites ... Till now . Thanks for your simple explanation . May Allah bless you .

As an American Christian, I am very glad for this video! it was very well put together, and I learned a lot. I'm sure you wouldn't be surprised, but In school I was only ever taught the inical schism in terms of who was the rightful sucsesser to the Caliph. Now, I understand why they persist as different beliefs. Thank you, and keep up the good work!
The thing with the shia is that they seem to ignore Quran and focus more upon historical events. Every single shia when i give them Quranic evidences for the status of the sahaba they ignore the verses and start quoting history.
I've been brought up in an iraqi shia houshold
However we were never really religious,
My parents prayed and that's it
They didn't teach me a lot about islam
I don't understand shia, it seems as though shia started drama by saying ali should be not abu bakr

If you believe the Quran was fabricated then your not a Muslim let alone a Shia Muslim. If you want to know about actual Shia Islam why not just read about Sistani, Khamenei ?

I am not sure if anyone can answer this here? But is it possible to for a non Muslim to become _just_ a Muslim if you know what I mean? & at a later date choose shia or Sunni? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but it does come from a good place, You see for example if _I_ was thinking of doing shahada who should I go to? Its a shame, I was kinda hoping Islam was just one religion all the same scriptures beliefs etc, not like all the Christian sects , At least there is not as many in Islam, ;-) السلام عليكم

_"*Have you seen he who has taken his [own] desire to be his god*, and Allah has sent him astray due to knowledge and has set a seal upon his hearing and his heart and put over his vision a veil? _*_So who will guide him after Allah?_*_ Then will you not be reminded?"_

Question is Who are Ahmadi Muslims according to you ?
First, Imams can have control of the atoms in the same manner the Prophet can, ONLY with the help and allowance of Allah. How else did Musa (a.s) split the sea? Only with the help of Allah.
Second, the Imams (just like the Prophet) only know what Allah has revealed to them. Shia's do not believe the Imams know when Judgement day will happen.
Third, not everything is written in the Quran. What is not in the Quran is explained by the Prophet himself, like Salat. Similarly Imamate is told through the Prophet. Look at the day of Ghadeer when he raised Ali's hand and said, "Whoever considers me his Leader, Ali is his Leader!".
Overall, I like how Brother Hijab explained things nicely with an open mind, instead of aggressively and offensively like Imran Mansur. Unity is much needed in today's time. Inshallah he will be guided closer to the Ahlul Bayt.
Salam alaikoem warahmatoe Allahi wa barakatoeh brother.. Allah subhanahu wa ta3ala said in the quran Alatheena amanoo bi ayitina wakano muslimin. surat zukruf ayat 69. so there's no shia or sunni.. peolpe made it. Allah subhanahu wa ta3ala told us Be Muslims and not sunni or shia. im not shia and im not calling myself sunni. im a Muslim and you too brother Alhamdoelillah. but the fact that the shia people are hating the sahaba is a big sin and the fact that the sunni people are continuing hiding many hadith and things of imam Ali and his 2 sons is also a big sin. Imam Ali ra is the door of knowledge like our prophet SallaAllahu 3alayhi wa salam told us. and the Ahlu Al bayt are beter than the sahaba.. im talking about imam Ali ra fatima za imam Hassan and Imam Hussein.. if you need proof i can give it to you. surat Ash Shuraa ayat 23 and also surat Al ahzaab ayat 33. brother why we dont hear from the sunnit nothing about the Hadith of Imam Ali ra and his sons they were number 1 in knowledge?? once again im not from shia or sunni im a Muslim Alhamdoelillah like you my brother :)

I have hearing shia belief similarly Alawite belief nowadays from ignorant shias. like the triad comprises three emanations of the one God: the supreme aspect or entity called the "Essence" or the "Meaning" (both being translations of maʿnā), together with two lesser emanations known as his "Name" (ism), or "Veil" (ḥijāb), and his "Gate" (bāb). These emanations have manifested themselves in different human forms over several cycles in history, the last cycle of which was as Ali (the Essence/Meaning), Muhammad (the Name) and Salman the Persian (the Gate). Alawite belief is summarised in the formula: “I turn to the Gate; I bow before the Name; I adore the Meaning.
