I bought tickets for me and my girlfriend for the Book of Souls concert in 2016, but we broke up.... My 7 yr old son had recently said "why don't you ever take me to a concert dad...??" So I took him to his first concert; Iron Maiden.... FRONT ROW!!!!! He got a Harris wrist band, a Smith wrist band and pick, and 2 Murray picks!!😊😊

Something I don't think you've mentioned is Bruce's enunciation. It's incredibly rare to not understand the words he's singing even when he's doing rapid fire sentences in the midst of guitars and drums.

Yes! He needs more recognition, he's a literal genius plus his voice reaches unreal heights. Overall, great technique, wide vocal range, great use of it too, resonance, good placement, also amazing lyrics and interpretation, aaaaand interesting themes. He's got everything in his pocket 👌

I will never forget the moment in the 80’s the first time I saw a Iron Maiden video on Head Bangers Ball on Saturday night on MTV I remember the big kit that Nicko McBrain was playing it made a big impression on me and that’s why I play the drums today

I would be curious to hear what any new Maiden listeners think. Going back to 1980 might be a little rough as far as recordings go, compared to today. I wonder if any of you will be blown away like those of use were back then.
Been a fan of Maiden for years and I am truly enjoying these isolated vocal tracks even though I am not a singer. I always chuckle when I listen to Maiden because when I was in high school I had a friend that played guitar and we were talking one day and he was mentioning different scale types on the guitar (Blues, metal, etc.) and then he said, "Maiden though is different, they play on the Egyptian scale". Always has stuck with me, they are so technical and and tight in all of there songs. Thanks again for the insight and God bless!

Yes, long lines... Part of what I have done to get better at singing has been to walk at a good steady pace, control my breath, and sing. This is one is the songs that I have sung along to, and have sung since first hearing back in 1985 when I first got the Powerslave tape. It has been tough to get a handle of some of the lines, but now I can go through the whole song when I am walking, and not run out of breath! 😁
Iron Maiden should be hall fame in my opinion the singer alone is legendary let alone the other members

This is why I know with out a shadow of a doubt that Bruce Dickerson is the real deal when they were recording the Book Of Souls Album Bruce was battling cancer he waited till the album was finished then he kicked cancers ass that just tells you how dedicated to the fans that Bruce is on stage and on record

I can't say I "like" Bruce's voice, the way you describe it as trying to start a car, that type of vibrato in his voice I just don't like for whatever reason but very cool and informative video. Your duet cover of this song is also insanely cool, Ken's parts are definitely exhausting even to listen too, you guys are true pro's.

Hi Ken and Gabriela!Once again, I just loved your analysis and tutorial. Neal Kay who was an important factor in the rise of the new wave of British heavy metal produced a few albums from one of my previous bands. Steve Harris is almost always wandering unnoticed here where I spend most of the time when I am in Europe (Hellgarve). Unfortunately I have not yet had the opportunity to meet him. He owned a bar called Eddie's Bar, but it closed when his longtime friend passed away and ran the business. You guys, You would love to know this, it looks a lot like California. After spending some time in the cold of Canada playing guitar, it always feels good to be back in the sun in this little corner of Europe.

Bruce rejoined Maiden in 1999 and hasn't left since.
The Chemical Wedding is some of his best work. Tyranny of Souls is phenomenal too. Slightly different and heavier than Maiden, but still excellent. But check out Tears of the Dragon if you want to hear some truly beautiful music. Last 2 Iron Maiden albums since his return are great as well.

The song is referencing the doomsday clock, which tell you how close we are to the end of the world. Either by global warming or nuclear disaster.
In 1984 the bulletin atomic scientists said that because of the cold war we was on the blink of nuclear disaster and for that reason the doomsday clock 2 minutes to midnight.
Saying that though it's not the only time it's been close. Recently it's been 100 seconds to midnight.
We all just need to get along because live is to short for sacrifice.

Bruce also fronted his own solo band and is a published author! Lot's of great insight on the lyrics on this one. But there is one VERY important aspect of the song that I think bares mentioning. Iron Maiden were fantastic song writers and this is my favorite Maiden song of all time. On the other hand, they did often have a lot of very long songs that seemed boring and repetitive to me.

It's strange listening to the nuances in his voice that you don't necessarily hear with the band behind him. He is a very focused, motivated driven individual. It would be so interesting to know if that is genetic, learnt or a result of his experiences in his formative years. It's a characteristic worth it's weight
