  • I show you what a dead or dying 12V battery looks like on my Kia EV6 (Ioniq5 should be the same). I then jump start it using one of the boxes listed below. I've had to jump start my 12v battery on my Kia EV6 3x now. Luckily it's been while it's parked. You can get it towed to the dealership and see what they diagnose (usually they charge the battery and tell you everything is okay), or just replace the battery with one of the following (should not good any warranty except the 12V battery one). Not sure this is a permanent fix but has helped in the short term for people.
This also plagues the Hyundai Ioniq5 and maybe some other EGMP cars. It is one of two major issues Kia/Hyundai have (the other being the ICCU issue) needs to address to get better consumer confidence.

I have seen that some people have reported problems with the Ohmmu battery - although it's probably way better than the OEM battery. Very small percentage of people, but I don't know that I'd want to spend that much money on one just yet. I think a good AGM battery is perhaps a better choice as a replacement for the OEM one.

I agree. 500 is a rough ask. I'm probably going to replace it with the die hard or the everstart that I listed in the description. Sure they don't come with Bluetooth monitoring, but after 2 years, and the problem just arising now, I don't think I really need Bluetooth monitoring haha

Honestly that is why I just replaced it with an AGM battery . dealers don't seem to do anything.

did your orange light get on before the incident? and at what percent of main battery has this happened?

I usually see it but haven't in a bit. That's what makes me nervous it could be the ICCU.

I see his main battery is showing 64%. I know it drains the 12v battery if the main battery is below 20%. The recall with the software update on April 29th can't happen soon enough. Some in Korea w/ the update said it didn't help :(

I barely ever, if ever, get below 20%. This has happened between 60-80%, which is usually where my car is. And yes I cannot wait for this ICCU recall

@winstonchow8934 can you guys explain what this is?
I just had this same issue and had to Jumpstart my car. Hoping I don't have to completely replace the 12V. But maybe it's time...

@@ianross9475 It's a warning light for people working under the hood that the high voltage battery is currently charging the 12v Battery. There is a High Voltage to 12v battery disconnect in the fusebox that is easily identifiable though. That should be disconnected before changing your 12v battery.

The mistake was buying an EV in the first place.
