It sounds GREAT for A 15 year old 157,474 mile BMW! I know the 4.4 v8 is an outstanding engine but, I’m impressed.
I have a 2009 Acura MDX Sport and I’ve raced many many many x5s. Must not have been one as healthy as yours my friend. Think you might beat me... nice Ride Man!

My aunt has a 2006 BMW X5 but it is a 3.0i but the thing is damn fast, we had to pass a slow truck today so my aunt put her foot down to pass it and we were from 50-100 km/h within seconds.

I raced of these x5 bmw 4.4l the other day with my e46 323i manual exhuast with extractors and resonater delete and also 3.46 diff ratio. I kept up with v8 he couldn't past me from 40km to 120km/h neck to neck. I'm impressed with the work my mechanic has done to my car. From 8.2sec 0-100km my car does wroghly 6.5-7sec 0-100km.

The owner was very pleased about how it drives and feels. He says that it was a nice car, but a bit whimsical.
He says that every 2 weeks happened some minor damage. Such as: passenger door lock, lagging electrolifts, mass airflow sensor and so on. And when his X5 started to eat an oil, he decided to sell it.
Now he owns ML350 2007. His words - ML is a little slower, but much more practical and drives even better (he is a fan of BMW)

Yes the 2000-2003 4.4i is slower significantly compared to the 2004-2006 X5 4.4i, it’s a different engine and power, it still weighs the same however. I believe the transmission is different as well, 5 speed was the original trans and the LCI 04-06 was a 6 speed ZF (more reliable and more responsive)

286 hp versions were back in 1997-1999. 2000-2003 has the m65TU44 engine with 290 HP. 2004-2006 has the N62 engine, which also was in the 2003 4.6is. 320 horses. It has Valvetronic technology, it's quiet, powerful and fuel efficient. I own one of these and I get to 100 km/h in 6.5 secs.
