  • Imhotep's Paul Kearns and Roy Kristensen drove to Stockholm to find out what's hiding behind the (lawless) darkness. This interview was recorded at Watain's rehearsal place.
In the second part they talked about the (black metal) scene and (response) to the new album "Lawless Darkness"
The photos are shot by Sara Gewall, Eternal Terror Website and Roy Kristensen.
The live-material is downloaded from CZcams.

I can`t describe how happy i am deep inside because i found Watain. I thought people like this don`t exist anymore. I love and respect a few bands, but they are the purest (deepest) band i know 🧡

A lot of the anti-cosmic bands are similar to them. And Watain are highly inspired by Jon Nodtveidt/Dissection (Jon practically became one of their mentors). The gnostic/anti-cosmic/orthodox BM bands are some of the best post-90s BM bands. They're all super inspired, unique, and the energy behind their music is very real. It's not typical BM and to this day I'm still the most fascinated with these bands.

E is a genious and know what the fuck his talking about, Watain is one of the most dedicated bands ever existed and Wolflair is with no doubt the best place to drink at... Hail The Hordes!
Great interview btw. Looking forward for the 3-4 parts and the new album.

From the respect, next time you should use a microphone for the interview, its quit hard to understand the conversation, specially because of the background noise! After a cupple of listenings I finally get to the conclusion, (as always) that Erik has a very unique and special way to see things and its just so inspiring, listen to his points of view, regarding this. I agree with him and his thoughts and hopefully more people do! Greeting and thanks for this fantastic interview!

i think he may be suggesting he feels that bands such as dimmu borgir have become more about image rather than music. i mean, they're like a mainstream black metal band in the idea that, as i said, have become more about being viewed as a big scarey black metal band rather than focusing on what their band is about.

I don't really think Dimmu Borgir is a "poser" band, sure they got some issues but I don't really agree

What? I love watain but, they are not unique!! they sound like a lot of other bands (dissection any one?). and that's how it is, a bunch of bands trying to be unique or different but, it's not easy. only once in a while we get something realy different but that's ok. there are a lot of bands that are awesome like watain among others... btw? when are they going to make another album?. cheers.
