  • This is footage I caught of northbound Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train 785 blowing past the Carlsbad Village Coaster station at 4:48 PM on Nov. 3, 2007. The train was going so freakin' fast that you can see the trees swaying in the background. Also, he was tooting like mad before he passed by.

They always honk like that because there are two consecutive crossings and that little ped one at the platform. "OK Dan?" haha nice video

Amtrak southbound 796 the pacific surfliner that goes from San Luis Obispo to San Diego, the engineer is always like lying down on the horn button through El Capitan Beach CA.

I've been there in the summer and in the fall to see concerts and go camping and I've always heard Amtrak #796 do that when it goes through there.

the K5LA on this video sounds great on cabcar 6951. It might have been the train wash at San Diego Santa Fe Depot Station that helped it sound clear and loud.

Yah, my grandparents live 30 seconds from a railroad track and passenger trains are frequent. So, when we were waiting for a train to come, an Amtrak blows through there, rocking the car.

the swayin' is what ya get when you run the double deck flat fronted superliners front first.

There aren't very many crossings there but 796 engineer is a horn blower. Haven't you noticed?

Yeah, It would be cool if I could go out and look at
a train in the middle of the night. I'm 12 as well

"90 MPH speed limit through here, most Amtraks make every bit of it too."
Yet I see trackside signals, which are not permitted for trains going 80 mph or faster (the engineer can't see them clearly enough). Are they used by slower moving freight trains?

@Jaanfo could u imagine the surfliner route, being able to handle up to 150mph?

It looks like it’s going 110 MPH more than 90 mph…

Nah, they totally still go 90 through Carlsbad, unless they're lined into a siding they go 60.
