CC23: Engine Mount Chat; OE vs Poly vs Rubber

  • Engine Mounts are a bit of a hot topic with Honda and Acura car owners. In particular, the TSX and TL owners we serve face repeated failures and performance issues with standard replacement mounts. Performance mount solutions address these issues but introduce new concerns with the dramatic increase in Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) as the polyurethane bushings telegraph engine sounds and vibrations directly into the chassis. The solution is getting quality mount replacements or optioning rubber mounts instead.

My big issue with my TSX is the driveline "slack". I replaced all the mounts with brand new OEM units, the engine really jerks back when you're in gear decelerating and then get back on the throttle. No matter how gently I ease on the throttle, it jumps back. It's like it really loads up on the front mount when decelerating for some reason. I've read that it might be the gearset in the trans moving around since these have magnesium cases that stretch out over time. Praying that's not the case...

I doubt what you're talking about has anything to do with the transmission. I know what you're hearing people talk about but That wouldn't have anything to do with the powertrain shifting around. You probably do need to try firmer engine mounts. Our new rubber vibration damper Fastline ones! They will allow enough movement for comfort but not so much that the powertrain jumps around on you.

Any advice on how to eliminate all the wheel hop that the tsx's have? I have the innovative 95a motor mounts, spherical lca bushings, weapon r engine torque dampened and federal rs-rr tires.

If you can, look into getting an LSD. I have a euro r trans with LSD, stock mounts, and with all my other mods engine and ecu wise, I still have no wheel hop on continental DWS plus tires. I also have OEM axles, and the rest of my suspension has been refreshed. Im lowered on tein basis as well. Hopefully that will help.

With 95A mounts you still get wheel hop? Maybe try slipping it a little more.

I preload the clutch and it still hops pretty bad.

Would the innovative mounts for the 2013 Accord v6 6-speed manual fit in a 2013 Accord V6 sedan? I have deactivated the vehicle cylinder management system so it runs on all six cylinders all the time. I'm just tired of very mushy behavior.

I am sorry Innovative does not have mounts for 2013 Accords.

Any plans on poly bushings for the 2013 accord v6 sedan?
It's nice, but it's very very "family car"

I don't believe there are no.

@@Heeltoe. Okay thanks. I've done all the ultra racing braces and I want it to handle even better!

Are there 2nd gen tsx mounts on the horizon?

      Yes that is the plan

Any plans to make a passenger side mount?

    • @Heeltoe.

At the time we're not really finding a need for it. The main reason why that mount goes bad is because the other ones move too much and stress it. With reinforced front and rear mounts we think the right side one is just fine.
