The disparity in knowledge between James and Rory is so vast . They are both entertaining but in very different ways , Rory because his takes are so bad itâs funny to watch and James because heâs so knowledgable itâs interesting to hear him speak

I love how with Southgate they comment on all the good hes done (which is true) but the fact of the matter is hes not a FOOTBALL manager. He doesn't know to to set up a team to our strengths, has no plan, no tactics and no knowledge of how these players should be utilsed.

With Kane's ability to drop deep and create space in behind, one of sterling or rashford has to be on the pick at all times, with them everyone wants ball to feet and no one to make runs in behind

I find it odd how when the world cup winning sides are analysed and how they won tournaments they are never that attacking in terms of play (maybe not personnel) and we as the English obsess over having attractive football played at tournaments by our team.

What a lineup
I don't understand why Southgate gets credit for the semifinal in 2018. Beating Tunisia, Panama, Colombia and Sweden is not an achievement for a team like England
rory : football is a meritocracy but puts mount over madison
James has the best thought process and is the most realistic about setting up in the knockout stages (the other teams are too open defensively). Jamesâ back 5 is atrocious though. My defence would be:

The Sterling/Foden debate is honestly a toss of the coins. Foden is doing great for city but has historically struggled in an England shirt. Sterling is struggling for Chelsea but has historically been great in an England shirt. I agree that the Kane/Sterling partnership is mad underrated. For that reason alone I'd start Sterling-Kane-Saka

England XI's are a fun thought experiment. So I thought I would ask my mum for her's. She doesn't watch any league football, but she is an everton fan.
So for anyone interested: Pickford. Shaw, maguire, stones, Trippier. Mount, Bellingham (as a midfiled 2). Rashford, foden, sterling. Kane.
That was a fun conversation.

People laugh about Kalvin Phillips but he was Englands player of the year last year and was solid in the euros. No coincidence England have been poor in his absence albeit his lack of minutes as of late is certainly an issue.
James has a lot of ball knowledge and i really enjoy his channel, but its criminal how you can leave saka out. hes been unreal for arsenal but even more so for england he has been one of the first name on the team sheets for last 10+ games

How many times has Sterling actually played wingback for Chelsea under Potter? I feel as though it's been less than 1/3 of the games and it's just popular to say any Chelsea player not playing centrally is a wingback

James is too smart for this group lol. What he did was set a lineup where he shows how they line up defensively as well as offensively. So defensively its a back 5 but when they attack its a back 4 etc etc. While it looks ridiculous its extremely extremely tactically smart and versatile. No disrespect to Rory, Joe and McCubs but they just went for a FIFA team realistically while James actually made a legitimate tactic.
