As a former SAR member who specialized in vertical rope rescue I had so much anxiety watching the free climbing with big drops at multiple times during this episode. Love ya guys, put some ropes on and wear a helmet! Set an example for those younger guys you were with. We want to see your content for years to come.
Ok mom
@@evictioncarpentry2628 hahaha A+ bud
and some radios. It still boggles the mind that after all these jobs, none of these guys went out and dropped a hundred bucks on some pocket Unidens so they don't have to rely on cellphones and yelling to coordinate.
Yep, walkies, gloves, helmets, safety rope, brass balls still need polish.
Agreed Reed. Whether these guys like it or not, they are role models for the many thousands of ppl who watch their channels. Many young ppl look up to you. Whether you show careless bravado or good sense safety measures could influence how they behave. Each of us has a responsibility to encourage safe responsible behavior. Damn good vid BTW.
Free climbing that cliff was absolutely insane!!! You have some huge cojones doing that is all I can say. Had me on the edge of my seat.
yeah took me offguard abit when i realised he was just casually freesoloing a 100 foot cliff
Watch that part three times and couldn't believe it my hands were sweating
Was praying no rock let loose.
I have more to live for than that, and I'm poor.
If he keeps doing that kinda of stuff, he won’t reach retirement age. I’m a very experienced climber and no way I’d do that, especially on that loose rock.
I am a 65 yr old lady lives off grid. I watch this show on u tube on my phone.i live alone so this show is my entertainment. I love this show .they do some awesome jobs out there.thank you
I read what you responded, I'm 65 too, This is great entertainment, When I was younger I lived completely off grid, from the time I was 25 till I was 32, it makes you closer to everything about the Earth, I think that was the Best time of my Life. The freedom, no bills. I had to totally rely on myself. From there I moved to Seattle lots of concrete, and people packed together too close
You guys are so RAD!! You bring joy to this 74 yy lady. Real life heroes!
And this 76 yr old woman. I don't consider myself much of a lady, LOL!
I wish I was 50 years younger and had a chance to work with these guys. I am an old 101 St. Airborne Paratrooper who was in Rescue with a Rescue program that worked throughout the Mid Western States and I loved Repealing and doing the Crazy work off of the bottom of Helicopter's. I did several Rescues and recoveries in the 1960's I watch these movies and relive many. Today I am 83 years old born July 17. 1939 and if they would allow me I would still repeal over those cliffs hanging from the boom of the wrecker. I have rode many Crain cables . I never realized these were two different Companies, That is what one misses when old. I am sorry I have made negative remarks because the situations were never jiving in my mind.
I loved reading this!
Hope you stay safe out there, sir! Nice read!
Thanks for your service brother. Godspeed
Happy birthday! I turned 73 last week - old Vietnam vet and 22-year SAR dog handler.
Thank you for your service. If they would allow you to repel down on this job, I would have loved seeing you go! Stay safe sir
One thing that Heavy D and Matt have in common is they both keep everything in meaningful perspective and both like overcoming the challenges of terrain and developing the right equipment to do their specific line of vehicle removal. Removing those vehicles from the bottom of that cliff is the biggest challenge yet, and turned out to be very meaningful for both of them. What a way to meet one another.
You need some Baofeng radios for com
I just want to say this commenter writes so well. Spelling, grammar, punctuation. It just makes it a joy to read.

As a fellow Eagle Scout, I am so happy to see you all helping this kid complete his project! (I'd personally love to see his documentation for this)

Dave, thanks for coming down and doing that! We're glad Matt invited you. We live a couple of blocks from the mouth of Three Falls Canyon and have hiked it and played up in there many times. Such a pretty area, but it was always a bit disappointing to have those smashed cars in there. It is so nice to see them gone. We wondered what that big green boom truck was doing up there! Now we know. Much respect regarding the free solo climb. We've done a bit of that on those cliffs, and those rocks are sharp and crumbly. Takes some real skills to do that!
I am a Eagle Scout myself and my troop would appreciate your service to that eagle and the environment. As a scout we did a couple litter cleanups a year and no one can thank your team enough and congratulations on your achievement of the rank of eagle. That is to be commend as u left your mark on socety. May ur achievements help others no mater how big the task . Again congratulations young man

Much respect to HeavyD and Matt for working together and more importantly, knowing their limitations when they arise. I don’t think either one of these guys would put themselves or their crew in danger just for likes on a video, they are true professionals and deserve all the respect and should serve as an great example of what to do in these situations.
Gentleman, You have restored my faith in American men and women. You have risked life and limb for the benefit of the young man's Eagle Project. It speaks to your integrity and commitment to raising men of Integrity. This troop will never forget your actions. I am an LDS Eagle Scout. I cannot thank you more for this task. What technical skill you have. Thank you,.
Dave definitely made up for copping out for his Eagle Scout project
Bravo to the Eagle-to-be for the courage and the boldness to take on an impossible task, and find a way to make it happen by asking experts for help. I bet you packed out a lot of small parts, too. Well done, sir.
What a display of brute force and power, and "on the fly" engineering! This was the best collaboration I have seen on CZcams bar none! Matt's ego doesn't stand in the way of realizing his limitations. Heavy D did not disappoint! What a pleasure it was to see Heavy D "share the adventure" with Matt, and keep HIS ego in check as well. A pure pleasure to watch. This is truly "Reality TV"!

The collab video i have been waiting for a long time. 2 of my favourite CZcamsrs i've been religiously watching since you guys were both starting. Of course HeavyD goes way back to the 1st episodes of Diesel Brothers but i think i started watching Matt's OffRoad back when they had around 3-4k subs or something. So this was really nice to watch you guys just put a giant smile on my face and made my day! ✌🔥🔥
Speaking from a guy that just had a Lisfranc injury on my right foot with surgery, it freeks me out watching you guys free climb. 1 wrong slip and a broken foot is the least of your worries. I can barely walk to get the mail.... great job by the way !!!!
Great video. Congrats to the Eagle Scout. I was scoutmaster for 7 years and I can imagine the excitement from that young man. Kings to you for a great idea and successful recovery.
I saw MORR's video on this earlier today and didn't realize it was an Eagle Scout project! You guys are genuinely good people doing great things! This is literally some of the best entertainment I have watched in quite a while. Love the collab and we'll definitely be checking out more HeavyD stuff now that I have found you on YT. Watch the little of you guys on TV but it seems staged and over the top to me and you guys didn't seem to be into it so I didn't follow much. I agree, must say it was irresponsible of Dave, the family farther and husband.
Super happy to see you support an Eagle Scout out! Being one myself as well as knowing you are gives me even more respect for you and all you do. What an Eagle Scout project. As a scout volunteer, kudos to both recovery companies for helping with this “heavy lift.” Dog took a look at the wreckage and had that sad face, knowing that this isn’t a normal situation. Laughing at the calm conversation at the bottom, only to have hurricane force winds at the top.

Thanks for all you do for everyone out There and watching your videos. Better than anything out there!
The crossover episodes on CZcams are awesome. I started watching Sin City Outdoors because they were covering the Lake Mead drought issues (a subject I've been interested in since reading Cadillac Desert probably 20 years ago) and found Craig's stranded houseboat. HeavyD showed up to save Craig, who ultimately left trash behind and annoyed the Sin City dudes. So watching HeavyD videos ultimately led to the CZcams algorithm suggesting Matt's channel...which led right back to HeavyD.
Or it's a smaller world than I originally thought.
As impressive as this was, it pales in comparison to Dave “Spiderman” Sparks free climbing the cliff!!! You my friend, have earned the Boy Scouts rarely awarded (& secret), “Testosterone Merit Badge”!!!!!!!!

I climb hand over hand down ten story air shaft down on a rope down town SF but wasn't very smart I ask my boss a Shasta indian who went with me why he ask me to do it he said because your the only crazy enough
Everything about this endeavour was ridiculously unsafe. Rusty cables, winch truck parked precariously close to the edge, no ground anchors or even simple wheel chocks on the winch truck, people standing behind the truck as it's winching, people holding onto the cables (a tensioned steel cable that snaps can easily cut your head off), everyone standing right on the edge peering over, the cables chafing against the rocks, and absolutely no safety equipment in sight. This isn't just amateur, it's downright idiotic. This level of stupidity could easily have cost lives.

Yeah from the get-go I was like "this isn't 'probably' a helicopter job, this IS a helicopter job". This was effectively best possible scenario, save for losing that piece at the end, and it's extremely impressive they were so successful - but a helicopter would've been way cleaner, way faster and way safer. At the same time, I don't imagine it would be cheap at all.

Scary stuff when you get into this size cable. Makes me nervous as I, as a young teenager, witnessed two men loosing their lives during a high tension block and tackle set up trying to remove a huge tree trunk with a massive root ball on one side. Almost had the tree laying horizontally when the cable snapped and the tree went back up like a catapult. I will not share the details, however, it is etched in my memory forever.

Why bother with wrecks like this when it is deep in the ravine with no humans lost lives. These youngsters who play reckless with cars flying off the deep edges of mountains need to learn to release their energy into something positive.
I would hate to learn that some rescuer looses their life because they have to recover a mangled vehicle which was used to race a car off a hill. That's madness.

I saw someone die doing that. Had me cringing. Please, guys, use ropes, helmets, and gloves, and learn how to use them correctly. I've done a lot of vertical rope work myself. I know the dangers and they took way too many risks.
You need to look at the extreme tornado trucks for "parking brake" ideas - angled hydraulic cylinders ending in spikes that dig into the ground. It would be a good addition for when you have ground you can spike into.
Those would work in most situations, except not on solid rock like that

I'm so happy to see you hang with Matt. He's my favorite youtuber. Glad to see you going up in the world lol
Always holding my breath when I'm watching your videos Mr D,you and the team must always be careful of the winch rope just in case it snaps.anyways love your work man all the way from South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Absolutely awesome seeing y'all working together and kicking ass!@
If I hadn't watched it, who would have believed it? Had me on the edge of my chair when Dave was free climbing straight up. Awesome video. More please.
Def made me nervous as heck!!
You should bring the Hett Wrecker down when Matt has his Tow Truck Olympics to give them all a good laugh :)
It won't fit on the course.
