Chris Gotti (Irvs brother) said that Jay was consistent. X and Ja sold more “physical records “ than Jay but Jay was consistent. And that’s what wins the race. Jay has a catalog. He stayed relevant. X and Ja each have there “5 years” but Jay has his start but never had his end yet

100% correct. Giving that record to Jay was the right move. And he kept Ja on the song. Soulja Slim did the same thing for Juvenile with "Slow Motion." Same with Dr. Dre for 2Pac with "California Love." Artists give away songs all the time, because it makes business sense.

Seeing how he’s developed his skills and slowly blown up after seizing each and every opportunity he’s been giving has been inspirational! Why people always act scared of Jay Z or scared to say anything about Jay Z like his a fucking god. Theres plenty MC's that had extraordinary careers and were/are better MC's than Hov. Hov is one of the goats yes, but he isnt the untouchable greatest that can never been criticized... DMX in his prime would've smoked Jay if they had another battle, X had 5 straight multi platinum #1 albums and 1 #2 album and a hollywood career... Nas ethered Jay... Jay is a successful businessman and mogul and coupled with his Beyonce relationship saw him rise to god level to some people, but MC's could destroy Jay.. Nas, DMX, Ice Cube, Jadakiss, MF Doom, Mos Def, Ice Cube, Pun Biggie Big L all were much nicer than Jay but everyone puts him top straight away like his untouchable because of his business career rather than base it off solely music.... Nas is 10 times the MC Jay is, album wise, verse, structure, lyrically, content etc. They dont put Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Jay Z so stick to rap and not business...although I do understand Jay is still nice and genuinely maybe peoples all time #1

Growing up in my small town of Augusta Ga in the mid to late 90s. I had a thirst for Biggie's music. Jay-Z was around but Notorious B.I.G had the spot light. I remeber walking the hall of my high school watching local niggas vibe out to regional shit while hating on that New York Flava and any nigga rocking ski goggles and shit like they was from up north was getting roasted but shit, you couldnt tell me nothing, all my folks was from philly so I said 'close enough'. I started writting rhymes and trying to flow to classic joints off the life after death album as well as reasonable doubt. But life was a bitch and time waits for no man. So I had to move. Didnt want to be the bum in the hood with a good flow and no job. Then big died and left a huge void. Guess who filled it. Jay-Z. I can remember telling myself listening to them soulful productions off his album yeah, this will fill that New York void biggie left. I dont doubt anything Gotti just said in this video. My only wish is that Jay do a reality joint or something so us folks that supported him early in his career can see how he spent that dough, or invested it.

So because irv said it, the way he's saying it, some run with it, hell some are just plain haters. Jay never stole no ones lyrics or idea. Biggie's estate gets A check from Hov. Y'all don't know Biggie's mom and Jay worked out an agreement on some publishing, partily because it was thought the bad boy wasn't giving biggie's estate proper credit.

I believe Irv Gotti. All you have to do is go back and look at Jay's format. Reasonable Doubt was a classic without a doubt but didn't do the numbers. So what happens...BIG dies and he definitely used the Hitmen to produced In My Lifetime, Vol. 1. Real fans know that some of those songs didn't fit Jay's style. He was trying to sell records similar to what Nas was trying to do with his 2nd album. Vol.2 clearly shows how he wanna blend both commercial and street which made it to be successful and more respectable than In My Lifetime, Vol. 1. Then there's Vol.3 and we all know the rest was history because he definitely took it back to the streets to compete with DMX's "And Then There Was X".
overall, RIP: DMX one of the last "real" rappers.

It's funny; little things Irv says like X and Jay not really felling each other makes me wander back to those days Jay was the president at Def Jam. X spoke out a lot about how Jay told him one thing when it came to his music and didn't follow through. Maybe Jay used his position to sabotage the dog. Just a theory...

irv said he is giving his OPINION, truthful OPINION, it's still his OPINION, not end all be all" Ask yourself why is he saying all this now, well it's because, Jay will not deal with him anymore. As a matter of fact, their relationship started going downhill when irv stated dealing with nas during their beef, hence why Jay didn't lift a finger when 50 ct was going at irv and them.
