    Hehe, I watched your video on the pullu swap and did that a while back. I just slung a bearing in the engine, and figured why not weld the diff while I have it all apart.

    This is awesome, I just picked up a cheap mower to do exactly this with and can’t wait. Is the drive belt lasting out ok or have you had to replace it already? Thanks for great clear videos.

      The belt has not broken yet. Back when we were using it to mow our yard it used to go through belts like crazy with the decking.

      Drive belts seem to be alot better then the blade belts lol. I'd recommend going to a chain drive or straight drive line. I have a drive line in mine and my dad swears to a chain drive. But we also added 1/4 inch clutch from a old chain saw rewieghted for 4 stroke of course. And mine Is a old grinder head worm drive to some old ATV front cv axle then I flipped the axle 90 degrees so it's more standard. Modded mower are so fun! Mine was found at a house they were taking apart. Old guy said it would never run again and it's a money pit. Cleaned carb driveline mod and boom I can hit 35mph. He gets mad when I drive it past it's old sitting spot and the guys home.

    Love your vids! I'm going to be building offroad mower as well!
    Just wanted to mention that the spatter is not caused by the welding machine. The welding machine amps/volatge/wire speed is not setup correctly which is causing the spatter.

    my next step would be to try to get it lower depending on what you want to use it for

    Won’t it destroy the transmission going that fast?

      No

    • @corvidflight19
      @corvidflight19 Před rokem

      No but it will eventually damage the axle. They will split apart and shoot out the housing.

    So what did welding it do to the mower?

    • @jackroberts3858
      @jackroberts3858 Před rokem +2

      It locks the differential and forces both wheels to spin rather than just one.

    How gear oil do you use?

    • @corvidflight19
      @corvidflight19 Před rokem +1

      The same that you would use in the rear end of a pickup. 85 w

    Watch for your 2 steel balls by the shift fork assembly, don’t want to loose them bra!

  • @jackroberts3858
    @jackroberts3858 Před rokem

    The large gear assembly would have stayed in the bottom if you removed the shifting lever and let it slide out through the top case.

    • @jackroberts3858
      @jackroberts3858 Před rokem

      Had one apart just like this and the shifting fork is what's holding up the gear assembly.
