I like how Japanese rock/metal guitarists always emphasis so much on clean notes during their solos. Just look at Ohmura here, and there's GALNERYUS' Syu: his ANGEL OF SALVATION solos. SICK!

agreed unf while he is a great technical player, as a composer he is really snore inducing. I have both of his first two albums and I can summarize them like this; uninspired. uneventful and non-risk-taking.
Everything song on the albums sounds like every famous guitarist could have done them. There is no personality and worst of all none of the songs says anything.
As I said I respect and adore Takayoshi for how great he is technically but he is not a musician that will go down in history for doing good music.

HotsDonutz Really? With songs like High Works, In a Rough State and Pleasant Surprise, he is uninspired. uneventful and non-risk-taking? Well, maybe "his style isnt my cup of tea" is a better summarization.

palikiro puti great player. but great tone......lol no way his tone is shit its muddy it doesn';t have enough treble. theres no dynamic to his playing and he just washes it all up with way to much reverb...his tone is the first thing I hated when I listen to him play.

2:08 That minimal thumb movement picking style is one of the hardest things I tried to do, even after playing guitar for 6 years I still don't even come as close to this hahaha

I've noticed that technique in Steve Vai's playing too. At first I was baffled, and tried to emulate it, but it was really difficult. Then one day as I was playing I looked at my right hand in the mirror and noticed that I was actually doing it instinctively. It's one of those things that just happens eventually, if you've been practicing with the precursor techniques like using your wrist as a fulcrum for your picking hand ( as opposed to your whole forearm ) and resting the heel of your palm / top of your wrist on the bridge. The main key for getting to that kind of dynamic picking is keeping your right hand as relaxed as possible. It's not the kind of thing where anyone thinks "oh, time to wiggle my thumb around to pick these notes", it's just a totally natural motion. 6 years of playing is great, but remember that a player like Takayoshi has been playing since he was like 12 years old. I'm not saying that it's really important, you could become world class in 6 years if you practiced your ass off, but just don't be too hard on yourself comparing your technique to people like Takayoshi or Steve Vai. It takes a looooongggg time. Always improve!

Leonardo Alejandro Reyna thing is his tone is so crap you don't hear the difference really in his switching because hes always playing so fast he has no real dynamics...don't even say he does either because he doesn't.and some of the switches he makes are pointless he will switch from neck top bridge and back to bridge before he even plays a note....hes still a great guitarist it's just he has no soul in his playing and his tone is crap too much reverb

@@HeartOfMetalx11 I feel judging him on a recording made six years ago is a bit harsh. Have you seen his playing since? It's awesome. His personal tone and technique especially with circle picking is immaculate.
I will admit here that reverb sits a little off in the mix, But, he is using a amp lent to him here, not his usual rig.
I'd expect some abnormalities you no.
I think he uses Kemper profiling now.
