  • This week Cammy shears a Border Leicester, famous for its huge ears! As this is a younger sheep, it certainly has the energy to be jumping around like a rabbit, but can Cammy tame her!
We are on a mission to shear every breed in Britain! There are well over 75, so sit back, subscribe and enjoy the shear tranformations!
    Cheers

Well reading that cheers me up , as a shepherd I too keep sheep that make me proud and happy , and the value is more that what they sell for.

I feel like, especially in farming ANY animal, you NEED to have a deep love for that species/breed. Otherwise you would just get bored. So "smiles" are DEFINITELY a "must have"!

As I watch you shear many of these sheep breeds it makes me want to get my hands on some of those fleeces for spinning. I don't know what the laws are for you in the UK right now as to where the fleeces have to go, but you could certainly add to your income by selling some to spinners. Sure would pay better than the wool pool. I got to try small samples of a few British breeds several years ago, and would love to have a chance to try some more. (I'm in the US.) That Border Leicester looks gorgeous!

I've been searching for an answer to this question for so long and only Cammy or other shearers like him can answer it. It isn't a question that can be looked up, I've tried. I've seen in North America where show sheep or an odd or difficult one like the 4 horn Jacob that outweighed him, have been sheared? shorn? while the sheep is tethered and standing. Why does Cammy and others not do this? Anyone know? Is it a regional preference? I'm not saying when he has 20, 30, 100+ to do but what about training the heavy boys, show sheep (like the 4 horn Jacob) or other hard to shear sheep like that or do they actually do that and just not film it? I'm positive it's done in places other than North America but since I live here that's where most of the algorithm suggestions come from. I have a bad back from a condition and I see him trying to toss around huge numbers of sheep or very heavy ones and I can't help but think of the high probability of him having major back problems in as soon as 10 years.

Hi! New here. I have questions! She doesn't seem to be excited about the shearing. I know it's needed, though. How many times a year do you shear a sheep? Do you have to trim their hooves? Do they bite? Do you need to give a sheep a bath? Did you grow up learning how to do this, or did you go to school?
