In this video I compare my 2017 Shelby GT350 with my buddy's brand new 2019 Shelby GT350 and talk about a couple things that changed for the newer year models. In short, they're still badass.
Ignored the actual upgrades that matter which is the gen2 5.2 voodoo motor upgrades. Otherwise great video
Thanks for the comparison. Love mine. See it in my videos.
Both are nice, I prefer the wheel/brake package on the 2017 model.
Great video, love it! You're part of the reason i got my GT350 (exept for wanting/needing it since it debued 😅).
I recently swapped exhausts with a buddy of mine, who needed a stock exhaust for TÜV (german mot/registration) and i got the resonator delete with the shiftech X-Pipes and i think it makes a great difference in sound. Also if you decelerate from like 4k upwards and you put your foot on the throttle to press it like half a centimeter (1/5 in i believe), you can get it to bang and fire shots like crazy.
If you like the gurney flap, check out the available wicker bills from ZL1 and so on (i got the wickerbill, mud flap and GT500 winglets and i thing it looks absolutely amazing).
Keep up the good stuff
Greetings from germany ✌️
Cool Video! Glad to see you still have your 350! Can’t wait till I get mine! Hoping by the spring!
Did u ever get it
Both are beautiful machines.
Very good video. I really like both cars. I like the Gurnee Spoiler
Nice video brother. I hope to drive one of these great cars and own someday!!!
Nice video
But a few things changed the optics and interior in leather, double-declutching and the rear panel with the two strips 🤭😊👍
Nice job. The 2019 also has better material on the center console.
Many Performance mods ~ non drilled brake rotors, more aggressive magnaride ecu tune, more front end down force and air channeling for cooling, Cup 2 tires
How do you like the comfort seats compared to the Recaro?
I got a 17 as well wish I had the better interior and soundsystem. I don’t listen that often but when I do I miss the bass.
Love the color and of course the car! Just got mine on my channel. I love it!
I noticed they closed off the front opening a bit more too for aerodynamics on the ‘19.
You forgot to mention 2 other large differences....rotors are not cross- drilled on the 19, and the 19 has a smaller opening in the grill due to too much air flow in older models.
Don’t forget the cobra 🐍 puddle lamps for the 19-20. Daughter loves them.
Did you notice any difference in the driving feel between these two 350’s?
Do gt350's have the terrible gen 2 body gaps or the annoying front bumper popping out near the fender.
That color is so nice on the gt350..
great video!
Dream car in red with white stripes
Both Mustang are beautiful I love these Cara😍😍😍😍😍
Good content. IMHO the carbon fiber interior of the 2019 is sexy. But as far as exterior wise. Your blue is far better than the new 2019+ blue. Overall, it’s the identical car, average joes can’t tell the difference. I’d take your 2017 anyway over 2019.
What about the block and heads?
I only wished that Ford missed a chance to install fully digital instrument binnacle. and now except for GT350/R every other Mustang either have stock or optional.
Can you do 2020 vs 2017 vs 2019 now?
when is exotic diecast coming back
having worked at a Ford store for 30 yrs and a previous owner of a 17 GT350, correct me if I am wrong but some of the important changes were the engine. The intenals got beefed up compliments of the 2020 GT500 5.2
Can you add the 500’s supercharger to the 350 without blowing it up? Reason Being the lack of a manual on the 500.
@@awolf81 I’m not 100% sure that the internals are the same of a 2020 GT500 BUT they are close. Though lots of people have supercharged 2015- 2017 GT350’S , I don’t think the engines are sturdy enough to handle the abuse . The 19 and 20 model yes. To answer your question , cranks are different and I’m sure you need just more than the blower to make this work
Don Donelson Yea might have to beef up the fuel system a bit and tune obviously. Although, I heard they stopped production of the 350. So as long as Ford wises up and puts a manual in the 500 I’ll buy one of those.
@@dondonelson7908 The 19+ voodoo was beefed up during the development for the GT500. It is said it can safely handle 10-12 lbs. of boost. So a whipple can be added and the engine can handle it.
Is it true that this car has engine problems?
Surprised you didn’t mention anything about the seats, since your car has Recaros and the 19 had comfort seats. I’d like to know what someone who had Recaros for a while thinks of the comfort seats.
Dream Car!
Both cars look great IMO & yes you can get the C.F. Dash aftermarket , I have seen them ! How many miles on your GT350 now ? I just hit 8K (2016) - Not my daily , I have a Ford truck as my daily driver... Great review of both cars !
I'm just a hair under 10k. Most of which were before I had my truck as my daily.
@@TexasRevving Wow very nice car looking great ! I have not seen you @ C&C COTA , although it's been chilly !
The 19's no longer have the drilled rotors but the engines received a lot of updates that as of now have appeared to resolve the oil consumption issues of the previous years that some people had issues with. Basically any replacement engines are the 350R engines and as of 2019 all the 350's are getting the R engine. Power and everything is the same of course but there are some internal differences. I'm deff looking to get a 19 MY when I got to purchase one in a little over a year.
The 350s have always had the 350R engine...
Lethal Venom The only difference was the suspension and magnetic ride tuning, extra aerodynamics, no resonator, and carbon parts. Everything else was the exact same
ImmaJosh sorry bud but you are wrong. The brake rotors definitely changed as well.
Lethal Venom Dude, the engines are the exact same between models. Tuning, Chassis and Aerodynamics are the only key differences.
Edit: Yes, brake rotors too.
ImmaJosh the MY 2019 is the generation 2 of the Voodoo engine it received a lot of updates. The tag number for the engine under the ignition coil for 2019’s and replaced engines is now a KA 555 tag # which is associated with the 350R. The engine tag numbers before this were not the KA 555 engines. Watch this it explains it all I’ve been following his issues he had with his 350 and it was replaced with a 350R engine. czcams.com/video/OneTyi5bkoo/video.html
You still get the pretty front end with the 350. That all by itself is enough
I am just waiting for the used market to kool of so that I can get myself a GT350
Has ford corrected the oil consumption issues with the 2019 or 2020 model year?
Yes. I have a ‘19 and I have no consumption issues.
Are you able to keep the exhaust in track mode all the time on the 19 for those awesome cold starts?
No. I have a ‘19 and it defaults to normal mode exhaust every time you turn the car off. Kind of a bummer. I wish they’d offer to keep the mode you turned the car off in.
@@potranco999 my 2017 is arriving in about a week. Is there something you can do in ForScan to change that? I made some significant changes to my 2019 Raptor such as auto start/stop disable auto mirror folding etc... wondering if there's a mod to have the sport mode exhaust always on?
EVERY TIME I see this I always laugh at how people don’t use their heads. Start the car in accessories mode>change sound mode to track mode>press clutch/brake>press start button.
THINK PEOPLE THINK.
nice vid ...i have a 16 gt-350...the best colot..deep impact blue metallic??the prod. # 4 2015 was under 200/under 100 4 the non r-s...aprox..maybe 50 in the u.s.

@@latinbeandip NEED SOME MANNERSSS SON!!
Does it have the new gauges or the older mustang gauges?
Brandon Chandy Still has the analog gauges. But I’m old school and I personally like em. 🙂
Great video! I should be picking up a GT350R before the end of the year. Nothing against the GT350, I want the carbon fiber rims and spoiler
Cool story. Enjoy your ecoboost.
@@Youngster543210 savage..hahaha
How'd it work out ? You pulled those CF rims off yet ? Prone to failure on regular roadways.
Maverick92 Hi Maverick, sorry I just seen your comment. I’ve been busy washing and driving my ecoboost. Here’s my IG vic.1881 so you can see a couple of pictures that I’ve uploaded. Please go visit my page. I would love to hear what you have to say about my car. 😀😀😀
Your Mother should of swallowed I’m loving the car. I drive it all the time, it has 5300 miles on it now. The CF wheels are still on it. I haven’t had any issues with them at all.
I have the chance to buy a fully loaded white 19 gt350 for 55k. Brand new 8 miles. Should I do it?
Belmin Zvekic YES
Patrick McCarthy - check out the Carmax website they have a bunch of 350’s. They also sell an excellent warranty which can last up to five years and covers most parts. This warranty is good at ford dealers too! That way you could get a 2016 with low miles with a warranty for less then $50! Piece of mind and the same driving experience. Only issue is the need for Track pack option for cooling if you’re tracking. Back in 2016 track pack was an option which became standard in 2017 after Ford settled a class action lawsuit over engine overheating on the 2016 models without Tack
Package option.
Surprised more people don't know about the "seat-fold down-exhaust" option! Lol it's almost like having three exhaust modes.
Haha, exactly right!
Exoticars19 look at u bro! I see u got your weight up
C63 6.2 owner here. This is NOT an option, it’s a requirement 😂 otherwise I couldn’t here a thing
I almost figured it out myself. On the way home from picking mine up, the brakes are so freaking huge, I tapped too hard and one of the seats flew forward! HAHA Will have to put it back down now. All is good now, she's such a breeze and joy to drive.
the tail light still the same like the 2015 model?
Yes 2015-2020 GT350’s all have the same straight three pillar tail lights
What do you think about the different seats? Which set do you prefer?
Santiago Pastor I like the 350 logo on he headrest better ( on the recaros)
All comes down to personal preference and practicality for me. I’m the owner of the 19 in the video. For me, there were two factors. 1) I’m old 😜 I’m past the cool look of the Recaro and all about comfort at this stage. I love the heated and Cooled seats! And 2) My wife likes to take her out from time to time and I’m 6’1’’ and she’s 5 ft tall so the programmable buttons for the seats and mirrors are very practical for me. 😁 Just push the button and I’m ready to roll! Don’t get me wrong, the Recaros are sweet. 👍🏽
@@trip3three That's true, I guess I just need to try them both and see which one I feel more comfortable in. Also, good point about the wife! Forgot she might want to drive it too 😅
You can wrap the interior with nice quality 3M carbon fiber
Might want to mention the engine upgrades on the 19 and 20's.
I’m looking at some 2018’s with low mileage, they pretty much like the 19’s? I’ve got a 2019 Gt premium that I have to unload first. Wish I had got a 350 to begin with. Didn’t do all my homework, just wanted a nice Mustang at the time.😩
18s are the same as the 17. 19s have an updated block design, plus everything he pointed out in the video. But if you can get an 18 for much less than a 19 I'd do that.
I traded my 18 GT for a 18 GT350. Is yours a 10 speed performance package? If so the quarter mile time is faster than a 350, just so you know. Also if you are looking to do lots of mods, it would be better to keep your GT and mod it. If you want a great handling, fun, unique car, the GT 350 is a great choice.
Rider14 McD thanks for the input. I’ve found a 17 350 with a little over 9,000 mile. It’s got an exceptional price of $41,975. I live in the mountains of Virginia, always cold and snowy. Probably a bad time to look at bringing a car in. May wait until the spring. Decisions decisions!🎅
Rider14 McD no mines a Gt premium manual. May do that thanks.
@@Vodoo954 That's a decent price actually for a 17, especially if it has the technology package. Over here I've found 16 models for that price
What do you think about the difference in your seats versus your buddies?
I wish I had the leather comfort seats.
Hey can anyone talk about the engine issue in 350s is that solved or still exist
the OPGs or the oil consumption?
they've been fixed
If the brake in on the engine is properly done to Ts, you will not have the problem .
@@SeattleShelby so the 18's are pretty good?
Why did they switch from drilled rotors to standard ones?
Blake Nimee pads lasting longer and less squealing
Blake Nimee because drilled (and slotted) rotors are a complete waste, uncut steel is fine for 98% of drivers, even road racers
Also the holes in drilled rotors tend to fill up with brake pad material
the biggest upgrade here is the keys lol i hate my 2016 keys 2018 and up looks alot more like it and i just notice the 350 still has 2015 lights not 2018 ones and up
2017 best mustang models , the new ones keep getting thinner and thinner in the front . 2014 gt500 had that mean big front
Exoticcars19, have you had any oil consumption issues with your 2017? If so how much consumption? Do you think using thicker oil would help?
It all depends how hard you drive your car my 2017 consumes a little bit of oil I would say almost a quart every two thousand miles
My buddy has an 18 and he’s going through 1 1/2 quarts every thousand miles or so. I’m the owner of the 19 in the video and I’m at 3500 miles and the oil level on the dip stick hasn’t moved. So far, so good👍🏽
So I really feel like they’ve remedied the oil consumption issues with this Gen 2 Voodoo. Time will tell...
@@trip3three I have a ‘19, too. I’ve had it a month now and put 1500 miles on it. Zero consumption. I believe they did remedy that somewhat on the Gen2
Maybe, I will get one soooon🤞
In 2015 they made a total of 137. 100 GT350’s and 37 GT350R’s, so very rare.
A friend of mine owns a 2015 GT350 track pack.
The thing they changed that is TERRIBLE is the red start/stop switch. Why put that ugly grey one in is beyond me when the bright red race inspired one was so cool. It’s a 5 dollar piece that can be changed but still
Ride Along I agree, I hate my grey button! Especially after I saw Brandon’s! 😕
Alex Martinez I’m sure you can get one on LMR or something for super cheap
I have a 2020 on the way, well just ordered, anything that I should get ahead of time to add to her? Thinking of the res delete but not set on it. Would love to hear your advice or other owners advice.
I left mine intact. And also have not tuned or moded the engine. I think Ford engineers squeezed out what hp they could while keeping emissions legal. Can you get more? Yep, but at a cost to reliability.
Get a set of Rock Blockers from JLT Performance. Start saving $ for the Track Attack. If you need a front plate, don't drill, get Craig's Custom Mustang Bracket.
@@dahe8883 Thanks
I own the 19 in the video, after hearing Brandon’s 17, I’m definitely getting the Res Delete as soon as I can! The only other thing I would recommend (personal preference) would be to get the car wrapped. I rest easy knowing that all those rocks the Cup 2’s are kicking up are bouncing off the wrap! Enjoy that 2020! 👍🏽👊🏽
@@trip3three Thanks, I want the res delete but $600 is a bit much for a few pops and crackles. I am getting the exact same set up as you have in the vid minus the seats. Ordered the recaro's. Will do a paint protection, can't hide that sexy blue.
Why isn’t there a manual option in the 500?
They care about speed and lap time thats why auto shift faster then 6 speed
Also, they'll have a hard time finding or developing a manual that can handle that kind of engine torque output.
for ppl outside the gt350 world the only difference between these 2 cars is the decal color
Randy Pobst got one of these to overheat in 1 lap and lose a front splitter in a single lap at NCM in a comparo at Motortrend VS the Supra. It'll win if the race is...1 lap.
Divad Noodeldehm that was a 2016 without the track pack which is notorious for overheating easily because it doesn’t have trans, oil, or diff coolers. 2016 with track pack or 2017+ when they made the track pack standard won’t overheat
I've driven a 2016,and a 2020 the 2020 feels quicker. Maybe some performance upgrades.
Are the recaros completely manual ?
Cobra Sanchez They sure are
@@TexasRevving Just ordered one with recaros guess wife wont be able to adjust it to her liking lol
Cobra Sanchez Haha, they are so comfortable so they’re worth it
Yup
If you compare the radiator opening in both, you’ll see the 19 is significantly smaller than your 17.
Neal S Yep, they we’re getting too much front end lift with the wider opening.
I like the new 2019+ better but I like the darker blue color better. The biggest improvement is the improvements made to the engine which I hope improve reliability. I've seen too many GT350 videos where they have had engine failures to the point it scares me. I do wish they added the digital display and added a heads up display like the Camaro.
I also think that the 19 gt350 shares quite a few engine parts from the new gt500.👍
It’s the opposite. GT500 uses parts from the 350
Swing Trade Solutions, nah, do your homework it’s what I said.
@@noladude5046 pretty sure 19 GT350 has the R engine. Where did you read that it shares some engine components of a GT500??
We have a 2017 f150 lariat sport speceal edtion and we have ford pass
Yea if I were him I’d check cause mine 17 has the Ford pass/connect as well use it every morning if I’m to far to just remote start.
If you whipple supercharge them they are better then a gt500
Tires last about 15K miles so be prepared for that. 😉
حلو
you failed to mention the most important changes which are the design changes to the motor.
Oh no, lol
IMO, the Shaker sound system is terrible. I also have a '06 Lex GS430 with a MUCH better sound.
2015 model they only mad 100 gt350 and 37 gt350r
Love the GT350s wish they weren’t having so many issues with the 5.2s
Hence why the newer ones have the updated block.
Someone released a survey and the amount of cars that are actually having issues is like under 3 percent per year made and then they updated and it was less than 1 percent
@@TheHaammer357 I would be one of them. The ones having problems that I seen on utube, you can watch their videos of them banging off the red line, and extreme downshifting, exceeding the red line. This will grenade any motor.
@@TheHaammer357 yup, it's all fun and games till you find yourself in the 3% club.
shelby 350 yes! It’s just the ones that do make all the noise. So it seems like every other car has a bad engine in it. Thanks for this comment. More peeps need to understand
I don’t know why, but I would love to race a GT350. In a straight line, and road course.
imagine buying a gt350 without the recaro seats...
My seats are leather with the gt350 logo embossed on them. Is that only on the 18' models and up?
@Eduardo Rubio
I did imagine it, that’s why I bought the comfort seats 😊 I prefer power seats and an cool butt (a/c seats) in the Texas summers! Plus my wife takes it out every now and then and she’s 5 ft and I’m 6’1”, with the push of a button we each get the seat, mirrors and display settings we chose. I’m not tracking it, so for me , Recaro seats are pointless, they look good, don’t get me wrong, but aren’t conducive to my use of the car. To each his own...
Watch me two a 16’ GT350 with my new 21’ Bronco.
(When it comes out lol)
2019 no longer have crossed drilled rotors.
2017 key > 2019 key
Significant chamges in the motor for 2019+
Ford performance blue is so dull and boring. I don’t know how any one can look at that and actually “want” it. The 2019 orange fury though with those exact stripes looks awesome.
I purchased a performance blue and I love it. I get compliments all the time. You are in the minority for sure, if you go by the sales figures by color. Orange was dead last. If you want a rare color, get the fury, then.
