Wow.. so beautiful ...in 5 min
Nice loose sketch and brush work too. Thanks for sharing.
This is sooo good. I am always struggling with proportion. You did so well and accurate
You Make Water color ArT Look CooL Respect 😎😎😎
nicely done...fun to see...
Such talent…astounding!
Amazing!!! Thanks for sharing Scottie 😁
Wow...beautiful and so informative!!
Good art! Thanks for inspiration❤
Amazing , as always!!❤
Thanks Susanne!🤗
What a great sketch thanks for sharing Scottie👌.
Glad you enjoyed it!😊
Really nice! Your linework and accuracy is really something in this one. Reminds me of Kim Jung-Gi. Love the result. Pen looks good too. I've been thinking of getting a fountain pen
Thanks Nigel! They are really fun to use👍🏼
Great reference photo and sketch! Thank you for sharing. I really enjoy using my fude. I find it keeps me looser than when I use my straight pens. It does go through the ink though!
😊 yes the ink runs out very quickly! Do you use a Sailor pen or another fountain pen with a fude nib?
@@SketchingScottie the Sailor
Hi Scottie... Jim from Madrid - Spain (a New Yorker expat living abroad).
Nice to see you've tried the FUDE nib. I think it is great for Sketching tight, but I find it best for loose sketching (specially in Urban sketching, people sketching, animal sketching, etc.).
It might not be for everybody and it has a greater learning curve than other fountain pen nibs.
I personally have 6 fountain pens that I regularly use for Sketching: 1 LAMY Safari EF nib, a TWSBI ECO F nib, and 4 Jinhao's x750 (really cheap - bought the pack of 4 for 20€ all with M nibs from origin with their converters + 10 ink soluble colour cartridges - 2 per 5 colours) + I also bought a little box with 5 FUDE nibs (#6 size) for them for about 12€, so overall a pretty good assortment of Fountain Pens for Sketching and writing and for everything, basically.
As I said, FUDE nibs need a bit if practice before you can be really fluent with them (after a few months I'm still learning to get their full potential) but I think they're awesome!!!! BTW - usually #6 nib size fountain pens are usually great to buy because of their interchangeability between other #6 nib fountain pens.
And... the use if Fountain Pens is extremely ECO friendly in comparison to other tools, due to a strong reduction on plastic waste, as well as a greater flexibility of use of the inks you want at any given point, something you can't do with other tools (such as finelinera, etc.). And in the long run it is way cheaper for the end user. And yes, I love Fountain Pens!.
Great video and Great quick sketch! I continue to learn with you everyday on my "people sjetching" routine (my toughest nail to chew!)... 😓😓😁👍
Additionally I wanted to mention the Kakimori Metal nibs for Dip Pens (they for in Sakura and Tachikawa regular dip pen holders, which are cheaper to buy than the Kakimori nib holder, for example).
I found out about these nibs through "Paul Wang" (an amazing sketch artist amongst others) and these nibs are AWESOME for loose sketching. I am in the process of trying to get the brass nib (better for sketching) but it us not easy from Spain. But I will get my hands on one, hopefully, soon.
Just wanted you to know, in case you didn't hear it see these nibs before, but they are amazing And, unlike most other nibs out there for Dip Pens, they will last a lifetime (they don't corrode like most nibs for Dip Pens since these are made if steel and brass). Just in case you want to check them out!
Great video as always and I'll continue to follow you on CZcams!
Cheers from Madrid, from a fellow artist!
Sorry for my mispellings but with my sausage fingers in such a small "smartphone", typing becomes a more difficult task than sketching and, the not so "smartphone always keeps changing stuff around so by the time I hit "send" the damage is already done. I try to reread but it doesn't always happen. Sorry for that!
😓😓😁😃😃👍
Cheers from Madrid!
Hi Jim! Thanks for all the helpful information🙌🏼🤗 You are a true fountain pen super fan!! Yes I am trying to learn how to control the line width of the fude nib and test if keeping my lines generally thicker or thinner look better. Thanks again for ideas on what fountain pens to test. I like to slowly collect different ones.
🍂🍁🌻✨
Genius!
Thanks for sharing, a very good tutorial! I am still trying to get use to this pen : )
Thanks Angela! Yes it takes some time to get used to🙌🏼😊
I love the pen. The ink that came with it is water soluble and makes nice washes/shadows using clean water on hot press paper. I like your work very much.
That's a great idea👍🏼 Yes I have been testing the water soluble ink that it came with but then swapped it out for a converter with water proof ink so that I could put some watercolor on top 😊
I love this pen, despite its scratchiness. I purchased it few months ago, when I saw Paul Heaston uses it. Since than, always on my table for quick sketches.
That's a good idea, it's a pen that's nice to have ready to go for spontaneous sketches. Very fun to use👍🏼
wow.. so cool 👌🏽😊
Love my fude pen,I have this one and a Duke, as well as a couple of Hongdian and a Majohn. They are all great - I’m a lousy sketcher, but these pens make it look ok.
👍🏼 I've tried a Hongdian Black Forest Series Fude pen too but somehow I broke the end of the nib on the lid. I really liked it so I was a bit sad 😊
Deine Skizzen, faszinieren mich immer wieder.
That's great you are improving.
Fineliners are very similar in most ways to fountain pens. The main advantage with fountain pens is that the ink flow is very good compared to fineliners. The fountain pen I'm using also has a 'Fude' nib which gives varied line width.
I would recommend trying a fountain pen to see if it suits your personal style but it is not essential to learning sketching.
I need to mention the Ultra Flex nib from Fountain Pen revolution. I put it into a Noodler's pen and it became quite exciting to play with. I have a Sailor 1911 and a TWSBI 700r iris, but I have to say for an everyday experience, it's well worth taking a look at.
thanks for the suggestion on the fountain pen nib👍🏼
That pen is my most trusted travel fountain pen
Waiting delivery of my Fude Pen! Another artist I follow uses the Fude 55 in her sketches creating thin and thick lines; she turns it over for a 3rd variation of line.
That's great Lynne! I hope you enjoy using it. That's a good idea to turn it over. I'll have to test that!
I really like my Fuda pen.
👍🏼 they are so good!
I forgot to add that I also use dip pens on occasion. My set was my father’s at one time. The nibs and handles go back to the late 1940’s and they all show the wear and tear, but they all keep working as if brand new. Great way to sketch in pen and ink.-OkieSketcher1949
wow that would be a special set to have from your family! they are really durable. I would like to try dip pens one day too..
HoW Do You Even DraW Without guidelines Respect 😎😎😎
sketching from observation, building up the main shapes. not accurate but has nice expressiveness
Have used a Sailor fude pen and like it, my preference is the Duke 209 fude pen. Just an opinion based on the way I hold a pen and draw.
Thanks for sharing Bill👍🏼. Do you find the Duke smoother on the paper than the Sailor? My Sailor seemed a bit 'scratchy'
Yes, the nib is smoother and slightly less bent. My Sailor was a bit scratchy also.
@@billtunis8120 ok thanks, sounds like another pen to add to my list 😊
Question....do you look at the shape, memorize it, then draw it? Or do you look at the shape while drawing it on your paper? Thanks.
yes I generally memorise the shape. Look back down, sketch the shape and look up again. When I look at the reference again I stop sketching or slow down for each part. This means I’m looking up and down many many times while I sketch.
@@SketchingScottie Thank you. I'm practicing & practicing....I find the head shape & face features the most challenging. I find it helpful to trace the head, then practice drawing it freehand and compare.
My experience is as a speedball nib for lettering. I've had it for years.
👍🏼 Are they dip pens?
@@SketchingScottie Yes, my Speedball set are dip pens.
@@sharonrussell7933 I’ll have to try them one day!
I do like that pen. I mainly do landscapes and the bent nib is very handy going from tight thin lines to much thicker lines in the trees and other surrounding background items. Very versatile once one learns how to use it. Your point about using less water on the thinner papers is spot on. Thanks again for this. -OkieSketcher1949
thanks Robert! It would work really well for landscapes👍🏼
What size Posca pen is that? Is it bullet point or metal tip?
It's a Fine Tip with a 'fibre' tip (not sure if that's the right word but not metal)
which ink do you use?
DeAtramentis document ink👍🏼
Quick Q if I may. What are the proportions you are talking re body measurements please?
You say "that is 2 times that distance" in reference to where some body sections go to in length!
Tutorials are quick and informative....don't drag on with mindless guff. Thank you.
