LA Metro K Line Front View Expo/Crenshaw to Westchester/Veterans

- Welcome to this cab ride video featuring the newest metro line: the K line! It takes about 20 minutes end to end, however long stops at traffic lights have been cut out for you to enjoy the video more! There are currently 7 stops on the K line as of June 2024, however there are several expansions planned, first to LAX, then it will extend past Redondo Beach as part of the South Bay extension project. In about a decade, the K line is supposed to extend north to the Hollywood/Highland B line station and maybe even the Hollywood Bowl! The line features a mix of underground, at grade, and above-ground flyover sections, making it a unique line with several grades. Why on earth is mass transit with hundreds of people waiting at lights for like 3 cars to go by, especially when this is slated to be *the* only mass transit to the airport from Union Station.
The C line will also be going to the airport but yeah it's unfortunate.
Yeah it’s not good, they at least need traffic signal priority
once the south extension and takeover of the C South Bay elevated opens, the ridership will hopefully recover
Technically, the K line has NEVER been fully opened which explains why ridership has been lower than expected. Still, it has been slowly going up. Once the Transit Center Station opens, even without the LAX APM, ridership will increase. Once the LAX APM opens, it will skyrocket.
I still haven't ridden the K line and I use LA Metro regularly. I have to admit I didn't even go on the free inauguration weekend. But plan to try it next time I take the E line to the beach.

Do you know if the Transit Center Station is opening this year? I think it will open before the LAX APM is ready.
