Thank you so much for making this video, it really felt like I was taking a class with the way the information was organized (and even the homework assignment at the end lol). But more than that, I learned exactly what I was looking to learn (after three hours of searching!). Thank you!!!
Thankyou for this valuable information Jade! I've just bought your ebook, and am doing a little more learning before officially starting.
The challenge for me is choosing the colours of Fusion mineral paint I want to buy first!
I'm the same.
Only really have a heart for solid timber.
Veneer sometimes looks to good to mess with and presents it's own 'thin material' problems.
Laminate just looks cheap and too easy to have peel away from the composite board, which is also cheap, fragile and a little 'beige'.
However, your content has become a great inspiration to me to take up a creative artform that i left behind many years ago 😁
Thanks so much Matt, I’m so glad that my content can help give you a little inspiration 😀
We all like a different type of furniture and some people love a good veneer or laminate flips to give it a whole other dimension but I just have trouble going past a solid timber piece 👍
Thanks for the help!
That’s okay no worries, so glad it was helpful Leeann 😀
Very informative, thanks!
So glad it was so informative and helpful Heather 😀
Very informative.
Yay! Thats what I was going for with this video. I’m so glad you got a lot out of it 😃
Great advice 😊
So glad that it was helpful Janna 😀
So helpful! I have a bedside table with solid timber throughout but a veneer top. I wanted to paint it a new colour but leave the wood on top. But since the top is veneer I’m wondering if that won’t be a good look? It also doesn’t have nice grain like the rest of the solid timber does ☹️
I’m so glad the video was helpful. You can leave the wood veneer on top you just need to be very careful with it. Is it damaged? If it’s still in good condition you can carefully sand the varnish off and then restain and topcoat the timber 👍
New to your channel and love it!
Yay!! Thanks so much Debra, so glad you enjoy my videos 😀 I appreciate you commenting to share that with me 👍
I was SOOO SURE my drawer fronts were solid wood I used the BELT SANDER!!!! Well I did not burn through the veneer, but it was just luck. When I was doing the hand sanding with a higher grit I noticed they were indeed veneer. I looked and looked and I was sure it was solid wood. No harm done but I was shocked. Be careful.
Or you can remove the old veneer and add new veneer. Not as hard as most people think. This is preferable to me because, unless the piece is beyond most fixes, painting should be the last choice.
Wood veneer is great to make your crafts eco-friendly!
How so? What is eco friendly about it? And what exactly does that mean?
