I will tell my grandchildren:" There were many great tennis players. Two among them were above them all. But there was ONE that words can not describe him. No one has ever, and no one will ever play like him. Only he constantly defeated the evil media, the hostile crowd, the world elite, and big players at the same time. The one and only, the best ever, the GOAT NOVAK DJOKOVIC!!!"

Without a doubt!! There will never be another champion like Novak. He has managed to terrify both Federer and Nadal (the rest of the players don't have much to lose and so they can play more freely when facing Novak). I suspect that Federer's good buddy, the evil Gates had much to do with last year's shenanigans to derail the Djokovic juggernaut. All the government stooges are in the back pockets of the WEF elites. Still Djokovic managed to win the year end Turin championship!

I don't always know why we like who we like but unlike most of the masses, I was never a big Federer fan. I didn't dislike him but I never found myself endeared to him. I felt the same with Nadal. Even when Djokovic first came on the scene, I wasn't loving him. As time went on, I found myself gravitating towards Djokovic and would always root for him when he played Federer or Nadal. By 2015, I was a big Novak fan and by 2018, he was my favorite current player. However since 2020, I'm absolutely enthralled with him and he is now my favorite player of all time. I think he is an incredible human being and I love watching him defeat all the variables in his life that seem to never cease trying to bring him down. He suffers setbacks and keeps right on going and winning and winning and winning. It's very inspirational to watch and as a true hardcore fan of his, I wish him to end his career with at least 25 and closer to 30 Grand Slam titles. Novak is an extraordinary person with a giant heart and courage that comes from deep in his soul. Federer and Nadal are exceedingly special but there is something about the heart that beats inside of Djokovic that puts him in a league of 1.

As a Fed fan you can do nothing but congratulate Novak on these clutch moments. When he's had entire stadiums against him and still comes out on top that is beyond legendary. If your favourite player loses the match sure it hurts but losing sometimes is part of the sport.
Fed has made crazy comebacks before 2017 Australian open springs to mind but nowhere near as many as Novak in such critical moments and in hostile conditions. I always felt when the crowds were going nuts for RF when he played Novak it made him more nervous in big moments, not always but sometimes. Where on the other side in some ways that allowed Novak play to play more freely and go for more.
US Open 2011 is a prime example of that Roger had him beat crowds were going crazy when he's serving at 40-15 he looked around the stadium and looked nervous AF, held back slightly on the serve and Novak went for an all or nothing forehand and it paid off. I definitely think that was the defeat that got into Roger's head sometimes whether he admits it ever or not.

Novak's fan here. Couldn't agree more. Although I'm happy for Novak, I feel for Roger's fans. It must have been terrible to watch that. For example, I can't forget that 2013 RG semi-final vs Nadal; where Novak choked because he wanted the title just too much.. He didn't have focus in crucial moments and he lost. Still, it can't compare with the Wimbledon final.. Final is final, this was semis, and Novak needed one more game even if he won that one I think (in RG match vs Rafa, I think it was 4-3 in decider).. In my opinion, this is the match that definitely ended Roger's hopes for being the GOAT statistically. While you can say Novak has bad temper, tantrums on court, etc., much less fan base than Roger; you can't deny his results. It stands that Roger is probably the most important player for the tennis as sport. He made it much more popular sport, many liked his elegant style of play and his grace and calm temper. Still, fan base and manners has nothing to do with stats. You can like Roger, but it won't produce him 2 more GS, 70 more weeks #1, 10 more masters.. And it won't bring him back those match points 🙈 I'm sorry many people can't distinguish this. And again, GOAT is based on stats and fandom has nothing to do with it. Had Fed got this one, he would have 21, which would put him in much better position when you look at it now. P.S: I don't necessarily say you can't distinguish that, I'm talking about fans in general. Some of them even came and compared Basketball vs tennis ( how Jordan and how didn't have some stats in his favourt but he was still seen as GOAT in basketball by many. Whereas, while he doesn't hold all criterias, he is best by % in many criterias, won 6/6 rings, etc.). I also can't understand how people can compare sports like this whereas every sport is a story for itself, moreover basketball is group and tennis individual sport and you have much more tournaments and much longer seasons in tennis. Also, in tennis you had 3 universally known as best players ever competing vs each others whereas you didn't have that in basketball.

@green ant Honestly someone could write an entire book on the psychology of the three fan bases of these players there are so many different arguments and strong views on all fronts.
I find goat debates in general so fascinating. Especially since you've got countless fans all fighting their player's corner even though that said player will likely never read these comments nor would they care 😄. Speaking of which I used to think Wimbledon 19 might play a role in the debate but I doubt it that would have been RF's last win before Covid and inevitably the injury. Where as Novak looks in perfectly good health to reach 24/25 which is just insane numbers. Can't wait for them to play exhibition matches against each other again in the future.

I always felt Federer had the upper hand on fast hardcourt and grass based on level of play alone, but the 2011 USO match was such a shocker that, from that point on, Federer became the underdog in just about any match against Djokovic. This matchup was incredibly high level all through their careers and pretty much 50/50 - but Novak turned it around completely by being several levels above Federer (and just about everyone else) in terms of mental strength. Yeah, never understood Federer's reputation as a classy and gracious sportsman. Perfectly nice when he was winning, sure - but anyone can be. He was insufferable between 2008 and 2012 when he started losing more often and having to play second fiddle to Nadal and / or Djokovic. Always being surly and sarcastic towards reporters in post-match press conferences, hinting at unfair reasons as to why he lost, struggling to say anything positive about how his opponent played even when pressed on it. Which is fine - these guys are competitive animals and losing hurts. But just don't paint someone as something they're not in that case.

At 40-15 with two match points normally both players know it is kind of over and both players drop their level just a bit. Big mistake against Djokovic as he knows you will be nervous and drop your level and he feeds off of that and comes back. Afterwards when it's all equal he uses the disappointment of the opponent to win. This only works because Djokovic has incredible mental strength, understanding of human nature and game dynamics.

RF is the Brazil of tennis who only in classic times could be a dominant force , in classic times only , those times have passed , times of sheer beauty of moves . RN is the Argentina of tennis , sheer physicality with some traces of beauty . Novak is a combination of Russian / Scandinavian physicality , extra-terrestrial mentality , Formula 1 velocity , Garry Kasparov mind game , super robotic mind-body coordination , Roman Maximus-like gladiatorship ,..........superhuman agelessness - that's why the late Bollettieri considered him the most perfect tennis player ever in history and possibly forever . There is no need for tennis players fandom to deny these facts in whatsoever ways , deal with these facts , He is the immortal GOAT ever , one more thing , he is independent of fandom , of being loved , of being praised , of being liked by media and governments , when is about to face any other super tennis players , he knows that he faces not only one players but a whole army of that player , he most often though comes out of the match as a victor , he is the only GOAT .

West likes presentation and politeness...also a good show. East (or at least, eastern Europe and especially Serbia) prefer sincerity.
So, if you are going to insult me, don't be a pussy, say it as you intended.
Subtitles below that gentleman's talk are actually "He is a lucky bastard, but unfortunately for me, very good player/bastard. I want to kill him and after that kill myself because of this loss". That is human, sincere way. That's what 2007 Novak has been trying to show before he had to go to a PR classes and became half fake... Yelling and frustration are human parts that occassionaly come to surface because he is not a corporate experiment and he don't give a f..k.

And a part of that is that as he is not present anymore, the future slam victories that Djokovic and Nadal would have had (and are having since Federers injury and retirement) couldnt be regarded as difficult and complicated as when Federer was on the way.
Si if Federer would have won that match point, one of his trainers, wife or father etc, should have told him this (im sure he wouldnt stop by himself as federers ego and love for the game would have made him continue)
But in anyway, he should have stopped.
What is more incredible than coming back from 2 sets to one, a break down in the fifth against the # 1 player in the world, against the champion Djokovic in a Wimbledon finals? ... also beating Nadal his other biggest rival and other "Big 3 member" in the semis (revenge from the 2008 finals) ... beating Dkokovic and Nadal back to back, sealing an unprecedented 21st grand slam victory, a 9th Wimbledon title and retire forever from tennis, establishing a position that "In my time as tennis player, not Djokovic and Nadal could win more than i have won; they could win more in the future, but not in my presence as a tennis player and not beating 2 big 3 members back to back and coming back in the finals of the most important and prestigious tournament in the world the way i did. In the contrary and by losing those points, Federer got injured (mental anxiety and stress because of the loss, that led without a doubt to the injury), got equalled and passed by Nadal and Djokovic in majors and then had to retire. What a nightmare!
So this match points lost have meant a pivotal moment in the history of tennis and for all eternity.

Nope. He is completely fine and enjoying life with 20 grand slams, the same way Nadal is enjoying and the same way Djokovic is enjoying life. Weak, silly and ignorant narrative

This is unreal. He also beat Nadal a couple of times in similar fashion. Djoko is the GOAT when it comes to mental toughness. Was there any other athlete that was this tough? Ever?

    • @Fraudkovic

He never beat nadal when nadal had match points. Nadal has done it to him once tho. In Madrid 2009

    You forgot 2 another cases:
WTF 2012: Federer served for the second set abd had 40-15, then went on losing 3 games and match
US Open 2015: Federer had 40-15 at 4-5 in the 3rd set, and blew it.

That ball in US OPEN 2011 at 40/30 which hit the edge of the net and went out could have changed everything.
Federer would have lost to Nadal in the final guaranteed, but it would have been the second time in a row to defeat unstoppable 2011 Djokovic in GS for Federer. I believe it would have affected the result of Wimbledon final in 2019 too, because part of Federer being shaky at these critical moments is his bitter past against Djokovic

Maybe, but probably not, because he had a problem of wining a match against Djokovic since 2015. I believe Cincinnati 2015 was the last tournament where he beat him.Never again. On any surface.

40-15 first serve wimbledon final, it was down the tee, a classic bread & butter federer ace. it just clips the top of the net. could of been a lot different. but always credit to djokovic.

Novak holds his nerve better on the real pressure points much more so than Federer did but love to watch them both. Both legends.
