If this is a "WiFi" unit, why does it need a LAN connection? It would be great if these had a mains power option. I suppose, however, one could add an extender onto the jbox of an existing, mains powered, security light setup and use that space to plug in the DC adapter. But still, what's with the LAN connection for a WiFi device?
Hi, it is required to set up the camera with an ethernet cable at the first time. After connecting the wifi, you could remove the cable. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact Reolink support at support@reolink.com, thank you.
Hi, i bought the ReoLink Duo Floodlight during Amazon prime day. I just now have had the opportunity to attempt the install. When I brought it, i assumed i would use the 110 volt power supplying an existing floodlight i planned to replace. After I initialized the camera, I thought to myself how is the camera powered? I want to replace the existing floodlight. Please advise
Hi, you may power on the device with the power adapter that comes together with the camera. If still no results, please contact Reolink support at support@reolink.com. Thanks.
@@ReolinkCameras I think you're missing the point. Most people want to place these at existing junction boxes for exterior floodlights. With your current power adapter, that is not possible. You should consider moving the power transformer inside the camera unit, and just offering two power cords in the box. One for plugging directly in to the wall. One for wiring up to existing junction box. People don't want to spend hundreds to add electrical outlets for cameras. They'd just wire for POE cameras in that case, which defeats the point of your Wi-Fi offering.
I have now spent 3 hours trying to find a complete description of the camera on your homepage. There are just confusing snippets (even with broken links). They are beautifully designed, but not very informative. Do I need to give up and look for another product? I cannot figure out how to configure the camera. Is it possible to define whether the floodlight can be activated by motion detection? Can you set a timeout? Can this be dependent on the time of day? Can you configure a delay for activation? It would be so easy to choose this product if a complete manual could be downloaded.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused. You may find the Quick Star Guide here: reolink.com/download-center/?tab=guide-and-others. And you could email Reolink support at support@reolink.com anytime. Thanks.
I'd probably get one of these if it came in black/brown and could be mounted from an eve/soffit (not on a vertical wall), the quality of the video capture/camera is obviously superior to say Ring, but just need a few different features to sell me on it. Edit: apparently you can mount the Duo on the soffit, but not sure with the floodlights though.
@@ReolinkCameras I saw on your site that the Duo cam can be mounted on a horizontal wall and the floodlights will rotate, so I think you can mount it on a soffit actually. The white is probably the best color, if it was in brown I might by one for the front, but I will get one in white for the back of my house which will be the best color choice anyway.
What powers this camera? What is the brightness of the spotlights expressed in lumens? Can the function of the spotlights be controlled based on type of detection etc? I like this product but this video poses more questions than it answers.
Hi Maciek, this is a setup & installation tutorial, so it doesn't introduce this camera in detail. To learn more about this camera, please check out: bit.ly/43OJsjE

Hi, thanks for your advice. This floodlight camera could only be mounted on a vertical wall now, we will develop a better product!

Can I use my computer instead of a silly cell phone?
Hej, is there any requiment of what type IP should be...dynamic or static...cos when wifi is with sim card modem it is often dynamic...it changes.
Dynamic. The camera is set as DHCP by default as well. 😄

Why don’t y’all make it like everyone else, a drop in replacement for your flood lights. This makes it unnecessary complicated.
