- PHUKET NIGHT MARKET STREET FOOD - Thai Street Food and Shopping at Chillva Market, Phuket Town Thailand. NEW THAILAND FOOD AND TRAVEL VIDEOS ALL THE TIME. Subscribe: / darrenb3
In this video my family and I take you on a Phuket food tour of the street food at a night market in Phuket Thailand. Thailand has re-opened its restaurants, night markets and street food stalls with certain regulations. The main rules are with hand sanitising, temperature checks, the use of face masks and many restaurants have some kind of a barrier on the table.
In this video my wife, son and I headed to Chillva Market in Phuket Town - a night market known for its vibrant street food culture and shopping.
Chillva Night Market is in Phuket Town Thailand, its Google Maps coordinates are: goo.gl/maps/zGd6NWBcnRFzwiEY6
The full market is open Thursday to Saturday, 5 pm to 11 pm. A smaller version is open Monday to Wednesday, 5 pm to 11 pm.
We had a great night out eating street food, and tried chicken, oysters, fish,Thai papaya salad and some Thai sweets too 😋

There is so much street food in Thailand and Thailand is known for being one of the best places in the world for eating street food. All of the Thai cuisine in this video is very common as Thai street food, but you will also find it at Thai restaurants.
You’ll find Thai street food on many street corners in Thailand, as well as at every market, be it in Phuket, Krabi, Bangkok or Pattaya. Thai food has taken many influences from Chinese food so you will find many familiar flavours.
Thai food markets and night markets are some of the best places to buy fresh and authentic Thai food while you travel in Thailand. There are loads of Thai food markets and night market all over Thailand, you’re never far from one.
And in case you’re worried, eating Thai street food is safe. It’s what the locals eat and it is cooked fresh and sold quickly. I’ve been eating it nearly daily since April 2012 in Thailand and my friends who have been to visit and tour Thailand have all eaten it, and none of us have had any problems. Thai street food is some of the best Thai food you’ll find in Thailand!

The markets in Thailand are also a great place to get an insight into Thai culture while you travel in Thailand. You can shop alongside the locals and learn what they buy and eat. And the markets are a great place to try traditional Thai street foods, learn Thai recipes and cooking, as well as eat some of the best Thai dishes in Thailand. You'll see the people cooking the food right in front of you. And best of all, the food is cheap, often much cheaper than eating in Thai restaurants. Eating at markets is a good way to eat cheap on your Thailand holidays.

Saw a vid on this market a little while ago. After watching your vid I'll definitely try to visit this market on my next trip. Thanks for sharing this Darren and Aorn.
Aorn's reaction was priceless. Things seem to be improving. You can't beat a good hustle and bustle of a street food market.
Great movie again.
Thanks 🙏
Missing Thailand alot 🇵🇭❤🇹🇭
So glad to see your food videos back and your "Aorn Eats" videos are brilliant
Glad you like them! "Thank you" from Aorn 🙏🏻
Glad to see you guys are well! Also nice to see the changes post Covid hoping to get back there sooner than later
Glad ur back mate
Haha...the look on Aorns face when she tried the papaya salad. 🔥🔥🤯
S P I C Y !
Guess she won't be sending you to buy it next time !
Good to see the masks and screens being used. Unfortunately, it looks like a second wave of virus is hitting Victoria, with Melbourne in lockdown for the next 6 weeks.
Take care out there.
👍🇦🇺🙏
Jim.
Yes, not a good situation in Melbourne at the moment :(
I don't know what fascinates me more, the food or you talking Thai with the locals. They always seem impressed Darren. I know i am.
Thanks again guys! Stay safe! 🙏
Thanks Dwayne. You stay safe too 🙏
Best Chillva market video,it brought me back memories, when my spouse worked in Phuket and we went for eating there after her long day of work.
Somtam scene was dazzling my mind,i used to do that to my spouse as well.Ordering somtam, but ending up to eat by myself.Oysters are amazing i should try one by myself someday.
Thai people are quite surprised in good Thai language, because they never expect foreigner to speak good Thai.
Love the moment when they are smiling and surprised by your ability to speak Thai well.
Really vendors selling so much stuff, loved the video since it brought me memories.Chillva market looks different and more tidy i guess so.Hope all is good there.
good work daz!
Thanks PM 🙏
😊Love watching these again Darren :-) Kap
😍 I’ve missed your videos so much! Me and my husband were in Thailand for the first time at the beginning of this year (right before all the covid19-Chaos has started) and I had to try all of your recommendations 😄 I really fell in love with Thailand and want to come back as soon as possible! Thank you so so much for your content and pleeeease keep uploading videos😍 best wishes and greetings from Germany 💁🏼♀️
Welcome back! I've been posting new videos again for a while now :)
Im glad you and your family are well brother! What crazy times!! Peace from the UK!
Peace back to you. Stay safe ❤️
Love your videos sir. hope you and your family stays safe !
Thanks, you too!
very good..
Thank you for video........
Tasty video again Darren. I'm interested to hear you talk in conversational Thai. Very impressive. Great help from your wife obviously?
Thanks Simmo. Aorn speaks much more Khmer (her first language) and English at home than she does Thai, so she's not really as helpful as you might think. It certainly doesn't hurt having a Thai wife though. I started making efforts to learn some Thai before my first holiday here in April 2011and I've continued trying to learn Thai since then. I've spent lots of time with Thai people and asked lots of questions, I've used internet resources, read books, watched CZcams lessons and done lessons with a Thai teacher. Nearly 9 and a half years of continued efforts to learn Thai has got me to where I am now.
I'm not good at learning languages and I am still struggling with Thai after living here for more than 8 years. Most westerners I know living here tell me that they find Thai very difficult to learn too.
Here are 2 great CZcams channels for learning Thai:
czcams.com/users/ThaiwithMod
czcams.com/users/lartstu
I hope that helps.
1st vid of yours we've watched. Great stuff!! Watching Aorn's face when tasting the som tam, had to call the wife! She loves som tam! Wish we'd not left, as it appears may be a while before we can return. We sure need a big dose of Thailand about now... LOL. Going to subscribe, Great video!
Thanks Andy, welcome aboard! Hope you can get back here soon.
Love thai street food! The spicy the better!
I had some amazing Thai food today in Katoomba in The Blue Mountains at a little Thai restaurant called Basil & Nut. The food there is incredible. The sauces are so rich and flavorful and tasty.
Everything looks amazing and great price.
Next best thing to being there. Thanks for that. Mai pet mai gin. w/you on that. Pet Dai kap. Always find it interesting how vendors always seem to instinctively know/react quickly when rain is about to fall...All I can say I miss Thailand. Hopefully intl flights can resume by (?) end of year (?).
Hey bro hope you are well and having a great day so far. Nearly the weekend yeah. I really want to get to Thailand in November, but it's not looking good. This is so helpful my friend. Face masks look very cool indeed. Bless him. Just want to get there to try out the market food. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us bro really appreciate it. Take care and stay safe my friends catch up soon God bless you all, its lovely to see you all again. 🙏❤️👍
Thanks a lot, you stay safe too ❤️👍👍
Nice😍
Hi we always watch your videos love them all with your family we are coming over in June 2023 to get married would love to meet and get a picture fantastic work you do keep it up
Wow lots of yummy food 🥘😋😋😜👍⁉️
Darren I've been watching your channel for about a year now and went back and watched previous videos. I must say I'm a respected fan. I think your channel is great show casing Thailand street foods. I'm born here in America and I hardly know much about my heritage Thai food, so watching your channel is very spiritual and uplifting. I hope I can visit Thailand one day and try all the awesome foods. Btw I subscribe to Aom Eats as well! I love the stuff she cooks! :) I hope you guys are safe, healthy, and happy eatings!
Thanks a lot Tha, glad you're enjoying our videos :)
You stay safe and healthy as well, happy eatings to you too.
The majority of the * chicken being offered looked very very good...the fish not so much. Crepes are tasty in my book, Mom taught me her method, "crispy edges/ soft buttery towards the center..can fill with meat, seafood, potato, etc, i missed the salad type Aorn was eating "papaya"?? she looked like she was "burning"?? oh boy. Neighbors very much full of energy to be out and about, and what better place than the beach, being around good food and family, friends, music...No doubt one could spend hours there, especially with a food court to sit at tables. Really appreciate "taking us along" makin us hungry man! ta mate..
From PH and new subcriber.
Welcome :) 🙏
Your poor wife. The look she gave you was priceless.... "SPICY" THAI SPICY" lol..... Bless her heart.
You got to be kidding me..... $3.33 for oyster, I'll take 10 please & don't forget the shrimpies & chicken wings & noodles. I take leftovers home thank you very much & breakfast will be wonderful in the morning.... lol....
So glad to see you back out. One day I'm going to just show up in Krabby Town & call you to come pick me up for a feast of seafood. Hope I can find y'all bc you will know what I want 1st. Shrimp, lobsters, clams, oysters, crabs, but no snails. I might try one & then I'll go from there on the snails. I've never ate on, only smashed them up for fish bait.
Well till next time my friends from across the pond.
Be safe & God bless us all durning this dang COVID-19 virus,
Chris from Missouri
Hahaha, yes, those oysters were good 😋. We're looking forward to the day you show up Chris. There will be a shrimp tour the likes of which the world has never seen!
You stay safe too, God bless.
Oh wow 10:05 spicy can not irritate you anymore. 👋😎
Haven't seen your posts for awhile Darren, welcome back. Not helping my low carb diet resolution :-)
Hahaha. I’ve been around, I posted videos on June 6, 14 and 29 and May 29 :)
@@darrenb3 best bump you up my list then :-)
Thanks Darren for getting out and about again. I found a great chicken place in Ao Nang. Go past Tesco Lotus on the left heading out of town and straight through the traffic lights. The place is on your left in the old fruit market about 150m after the lights. Just before that there's a chap does BBQ fish in salt crust. Top notch in my view. Most juicy and flavoursome I've found to date. Usually a small queue so prepare for a 19 min wait. Their somtam is good too! Hopefully bump into you again one day as I'm "stuck here from Covid".
Yes, I know the shop at the Sofina Market, I buy som tam there fairly regularly. Right at the front, pretty close to the middle, with the grill outside 👍👍
@@darrenb3 Yeap, you got it! I found a great little Dim Sum place on the corner of Maharaj 5 Alley and Maharaj Road in Krabi town.
Thanks Mark. I've been to that dim sum place twice over the last 18 months or so and to be honest I wasn't blown away by it either time. We love Pae Yim Dim Sum, (แป๊ะยิ้มติ่มซำ aka Poppers Smile Dim Sum) in Krabi Town. We made a video there about a year ago: czcams.com/video/kwaPQqIL-0g/video.html
@@darrenb3 thanks. Yes I know Poppers, it was my favorite prior to the lockdown. I went back last month and it wasn't as good I felt. Perhaps I should try again and let you know. Luxury problems!
Can't wait to get back...... don't know when though. Is this market in Patong?
No the market is Phuket Town - details in the description below the video.
👍
Ur son so cute🤟🤟🤟😘
Thanks :)
Hi Darren an Fam, missed you guys.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰
🥰🙏
Amazing food! So jealous because our trip to Phuket was cancelled in April due to COVID. :(
with or without covid; yummy!
Another great video Darren. So good to see you all safe and well. Please can you slow down a bit when you are panning the camera? There is so much to see but we miss it when you move too fast. Thank you. Scotland simply. co.uk
Hungry............. YUM YUM !!!!!
If a Thai girl says spicy then it must be super spicy.
No new videos coming 🤞🏼?
Hi, Unfortunately we are both very busy with work commitments and also waiting for the Covid situation to improve here, but we will resume with the videos in the future.
I hope all is well with you 🙂
All the best,
Darren
@@darrenb3 ah ok understandable... hubby and myself were in Thailand last week and stopped at Chillva Market and the Walking Street Market in Old Town just to try all the foods you show in your videos 😂😂 it was all delicous!
These videos are making me so sad, I miss Thailand so much! I hope that i can travel there again soon F-Covid
The 50 bath chicken seems a bit pricey.
So just to point out the obvious, the guy doing the "safety" check at the entrance isn't even wearing a mask. Maybe you should take his temperature?
How rude buying the salad so spicy then saying oh well.
