Scientists have found that these eerie laser-like beams, known as "lightning sprites," often appear right before lightning bolts zap down to the ground. And it's just one way of nature saying, "Hey, heads up, lightning's about to crash the party!"

I e been hit by lightning and survived after 7 surgeries and over a year in the hospital. I had to learn how to talk and every motor function. It killed my dog standing next to me. The dog was chained to a large oak tree and I had a grip with both hands trying to unchain the dog. Lightning hit the tree and through the chain and my body over to the dog who was the last point the electricity tried to ground to. It blew both my boots off and my friends who witnessed the event found half of one boot and there was nothing left of the other boot.
I certainly don’t recommend the experience!
