Prepped, served and set off to be delivered by 9am everyday! Meals on Wheels is truly an essential service Unison provides the senior community in Medicine Hat, Alberta. It's a lifeline for many seniors: those who need help due to physical disabilities and cognitive impairments, folks recovering from illnesses or surgeries, and seniors requiring special dietary planning and assistance.
Access to well-balanced, nutritious, delicious and affordable meals is critical to the independence and overall well-being of Meals on Wheels' clients in Medicine Hat. Research shows that healthy eating provides essential energy and nutrients for general welfare, maintenance of health and functional autonomy, and reduces the risk for chronic diseases at older ages.
Additionally, all of our Meals on Wheels delivery drivers are dedicated volunteers who selflessly give their time and effort to ensure that our community members receive nutritious meals. These compassionate individuals play a crucial role in our program, not only delivering food but also offering companionship and a friendly face to those they serve. Their commitment and generosity are at the heart of what makes our Meals on Wheels program so impactful and successful.
