Season 7 Episode 4 "Message Therapy"
House and the team treat a woman (Erin Cahill) suffering from severe vomiting, heart problems, and a fever, but in the course of treatment, the team discovers that she is not who she says she is. During the case, House's new fellow (Vinessa Shaw), a psychiatrist that Chase hired, is welcomed with a trial by fire. Meanwhile, a visit from House's masseuse (and former hooker) forces him and Cuddy to confront the fact they are both holding back in their relationship.

EVERYONE treats us like a live bomb that's about to go off any second... We break our silence and watch people's eyes go wide and find a convenient excuse to be someplace else. Everyone else gets a month and compassion (even if it is fake pandering most of the time) We get stuck in closets and left out of family pictures.

Anyone who's seen more than a few episodes of the show already knows that House was definitely going to mess with the noob, no matter who it was. Chase was set up for failure.
If he hired someone for their ability and not because they're hot the newbie would have had an easier time. He was business as usual with her the first time, for a new person. That she kept giving bad suggestions and missed things repeatedly made him be harder on her.
The lady is the wrong choice since she is not a clinician like the rest of them. She is a psychatrist, more talk theory although she can prescibed drugs since she is still a licensed medical doctor.
at the end it becomes clear he really did hire her just to sleep with her, so he set himself up worse than house set him up.
Tbf he made a shitty choice.
I would hate to be interviewed by House for a new job.

@@SphincterOfDoom To be fair, that's another wrong diagnosis, albeit a mental disease instead of a physical one (like some of her earlier guesses). Bipolar disorder is not the same as schizophrenia...so, yeah, House totally schooled her and showed she wasn't ready/equipped to be on his team doing high-level diagnostics work.

@@mrobviousj in all fairness bipolar and schizophrenia are kinda similar to make it kinda believable as a misdiagnosis. Both suffer from delusions, disorganised thinking, depressive symptoms and potential for substance abuse but schizophrenia is much more severe. I am not a psychiatrist and so don't know the diagnosis process but as a viewer I can totally believe a psychiatrist would look for bipolar before schizophrenia. Especially if the patient is actively concealing symptoms.

The question that needs to be asked is.
Are the doctors who worked under him for at least 6 months or more better doctors for having worked under him, did they gain useful knowledge that will benefit their patients moving forward? If the answer is yes, then House is exactly the kind of Boss everyone should have.
Feelings take a back seat to fixing the problem and saving the patient's life.

@@TBirum1yes but are they happier healthier people. You can't compartmentalize people. Being better at your job is not all it takes for someone to function. Having a boss like this could be extremely draining and take a serious toll on someone's mental health which in fact would not be good for the patients their treating.

I'm not a doctor, but as someone who has been in and out of hospitals from birth to 16, I would have fired Dr. Benedict. She is too apologetic and unsure of everything. Doctors like that kill people who cannot afford their doctors being wrong a lot. They obviously don't mean to, but that ultimately happens.
She's new. So I'd probably be nicer. That said, she shouldn't have been hired in the first place. She is a doctor, yes, but clearly not on the same level as the ones on House's team. Much less House himself.

Sadly, this level of workplace hazing(abuse) is probably a lot more common than anyone cares to realize.
One of the biggest problems of this show is how much of House's sexual harassment is passed as normal, like how normalized his comments towards Cuddy are and I get it, Cuddy has always liked him so she stands him (even tho it's still unrealistic a woman in her position would take that kind of thing from an employee) and House reads people like a book so he knows how far she can take it, but they're not real people and irl not a single woman in a power position would take harassment from her employee (even if she had the hots for him like Cuddy does)

@@omegastar19 What consequence for a procedure that hadn't started yet? Seeing as almost everyone was out of the room, and no one was protesting, the procedure hadn't even started. Yeah, there's times where he barges into ongoing procedures but he usually takes /some/ precautions. That being said, this was not an ongoing procedure yet
The real problem isn't that she was wrong, it's that she obsessed on how she was wrong. She kept on saying sorry and then she overcompensated by trying to "prove herself" or whatever and wound up missing the obvious. Objectively, she didn't do any worse than any other member of House's team. Amber figured it out once and she didn't make it. Taub was a longtime member and he came up with a solution like twice. Park and Adams were not even as qualified as Benedict. But none of them let their failures eat at them the way this Kelly person did.
She was nervous and not used to it, to have proven herself as worthy and not be completely humilliated over and over again, she would have to be at least twice as smart as the rest of the team, they're already biased against her cause she's pretty but she's also nervous and has never done this before, so of course she's gonna fail, she was destined for failure the minute she crossed that door
I really liked Park tho, it was refreshing to see they brought a woman to the show not to solely act as eye candy, even if it took them 7 seasons to do it

Still out of touch tho, maybe oncologists get to do that, dermatologists are super fancy women too, even Cuddy can cause she doesn't really see patients but house's team? there's no way doctors who have to be running around, jumping and doing all kind of stuff would be able to wear heels, but the rest of the girls' closet is also ridiculous, a woman in Cuddy's position wouldn't wear clothes that skimpy (it's obvious that like the heels they are only there for the male viewers entertainment, and so is Cuddy anyways) and all of them most of the time (except for thirteen she only went through that a few times) were always wearing low cut shirts to show cleavage and stuff, which is also INCREDIBLY unrealistic in a work setting, the last thing you want in an environment were men are already biased against taking you seriously is to have them looking at your half exposed boobs

So that was just a fridnly banter in his POV. In this case, House saw that Kelly was unfit and hence all the jokes. Yes, I know KAREN it's still inappropriate, but it's a series shot 10 years ago, let it go. Also, all his jokes were targeted at Chase actually, he couldn't care less about this woman. He proved many times that sexual jokes did not prevent him from taking women seriously.

Interesting how the protagonist in this show matches the protagonist in Sherlock Holmes. Geniuses, boredom kills them, hence the use of drugs, they live for problem-solving in their respective areas.The higher the IQ sometimes the more intense the physical pain.
Not coincidence. House = Holmes. Wilson = Watson. Address is 221B (for House) and 221B Baker Street. House is one of the best renditions of the Sherlock Holmes character in literary history. :)

House was based on Sherlock Holmes, at least so I've been told. Even the fact that he's addicted to Vicodin is based on Holmes' being a habitual user of drugs, especially morphine and cocaine.

True but there is way more to it than just marks. Compassion, empathy, common sense, teachability, stamina, quick thinking, a strong stomach and other qualities are essential to be successful as a doctor.
This is medical science. No mistakes or you lose a live.
@@drmayeda1930 They're not residents. They're all fully-qualified, board-certified specialists who could be attendings if they wanted to be, but have chosen instead to do more specialized training as diagnostic fellows under House.

He probably did it for copyright reasons. Sometimes you have to alter clips for they won't be taken down.
I really don't think that audio sync would have any consequence to a copyright challenge. If anything, it is unpleasent and causes damage to the brand -- that would actually stengthen the claim.
