I’ve got a factory 79 F350 4x4 ranger xlt standard cab long box that I’m working to make a daily driver…been sitting in a pole barn since 91 without an engine in it. The factory 400 blew up and was in the back of the box. I’ve since then installed a good used 460 and rebuilt the front diff with all new brakes, new proportioning valve etc etc. I still need to go through the rear brakes and have custom exhaust made cause 79 4x4 never came with a 460.
About 10,000 79 f350 4x4 trucks were built but not sure how many with this trim package.
It’s a c6 auto with factory 4.10 gears ….should be a fun truck to drive when done.

One thing I can truly say about Ford, when it came to their top of the line vehicles, they didn’t hold back on the extra trim, moldings and brightwork. As you can clearly see here it didn’t stop with their trucks either! Thanks one sweet rig, Thanks for sharing!

Nice truck to say the least. The only difference between a 1976 & a 1977 Ford Pickup was that on a ‘76, the F150,F250, ect emblems were on the lower part of the front fenders between the wheel well & the door. In ‘77 they just moved them up on the cowl like on this on. Good Day Everyone!

Thanks for caring enough to call your truck what it is. Everybody throws the term ''Hi Boy" around rather carelessly, except for you:) A true Hi boy is a 76-77 F250 4x4 with a divorced transfer case. I see alot of bogus 79s and 72s that look good but are not correct. You have a beatiful example of what these trucks were engineered to be look like. I own a 79 F150 and a 79 F250 as well as a 76 F350 long chassis dumptruck and I look forward to finding a Hiboy for the collection. Thanks for the inspiration.

The base for the "nicest Highboy on the planet" wouldn't be a 77, it would be a smog exempt truck with a 428FE and it would have factory air. Not a bad truck, but not a great Highboy. It's got a crap engine and smog is required in CA. I'm not sure which power steering it has, but I think that's when they came out with the better one. Again, not bad, but mine is WAY better for a 428 with heavy mods, factory air, dual tank bed/cab and full frame off resto as well as smog exempt and great paint. The over sell on this is a bit thick as it's not one that I would buy just because of the smog and a crappy engine. The 428 FE or 460 would be the choice engines. I get what salesmanship is all about, but this isn't a great Highboy, it's just a Highboy. Get the smog exempt with a 428 and factory air, then you'll have something.
The factory dual tank has a switch next to fan/heater controls. I have one, you switch up for one/down for the other tank. The trims don't match, different wood grains. I guess it's a 351, but doesn't say M or W, but a small block W wouldn't be a great choice for high torque and the M sucks. It also has the crappy power assist, no true power steering and no belly pan for the transfer case... there's just no way this is a base for "nicest Highboy on the planet" mine is at least 2X as good as this one.

@@phantomwalker8251 Not sure what engine you have, you stroked a 292 Y block to 390? The ZF is a great choice, which I had one myself, even a 6 speed, but the FE is top dog and came original. There's something about a mostly original Highboy that has 500HP, that's where I'm at. Smog exempt 500HP is just straight azz kicking power and it's all in my driveway.

@@karljay7473 when I was a kid my uncles sled pulling truck was a 1970 Crew Cab HighBoy that he had bought when he was in High School, he put a mildly built 427 in it and could win first place prize money at any and every county fair we went to. It would eat big block Chevrolet trucks all to pieces. When I was a teenager everyone started bitching about us running 110 octane airplane fuel in it so we drained it to run regular gas in it and burned up the valves. It now has a 428 from an old police cruiser and isn’t half the truck it used to be.... this truck being a 100% factory truck in such good shape would turn my head quicker than your chopped up built truck would. How arrogant does somebody really have to be to try and tear down such a good looking truck just because you like your more? Nobody gives a shit dude, you need to get over yourself

@@warrenmcelroy4718 Anyone that thinks this truck is the "nicest Highboy on the planet" is asking to be slammed. It's FAR from the nicest. First off, you've never seen my truck. Second, anyone that can't build a 428 to run with a 427, doesn't know FE engines. Anyone that would give up on a 427 because of burnt valves, doesn't know what they are doing, it's an easy fix and you replace the engine? Anyone that uses some wild story as "logic" to diminish my argument, needs to take a class on logic and get over themselves. You really don't know Highboys if you think this one is one of the best, it's not even close. Being fully stock with with a 70's engine isn't a good thing, a much better choice is smog exempt and well built with some 500 HP. I couldn't care less what turns your head, but with mine, your head would have trouble keeping up, because I'd be long gone.

@@karljay7473 haha Yeah you’re right, you’re prolly the only dude in the country that knows how to work on FE Engines 😂... Kid you couldn’t even dream of building a 428 that would run with that 427, especially with a sled behind it. But you’re missing the point here and anyone who can’t appreciate a 100% factory HighBoy in as good of shape as this one should leave it alone and go back to watching small block Chevrolet hot rod vids because nobody gives a shit about your “500hp” 428. Hell I’ve been running these trucks and working on FE’s longer than you’ve likely been alive so you may want to just go sit down somewhere and give your high horse a rest. But just so you know, the 427 wasn’t pulled because nobody knew how to work on it, it was pulled because it also caused issues with a couple of cylinders rings, the truck had to be ready for a pull that same weekend and the 428 was waiting and ready to go so that was the easiest move. But, anyone who thinks they can run a 428 with a 427 not only doesn’t know FE Engines, but they’re easily a joke also. You can play with your 428 all you want because if I ever get my hands on a Crew Cab Dent side or a reg cab in THiS good of shape it’s going to be powered by the 97 12 Valve Cummins engine that’s in my work truck now and I guarantee I can make more power at 1500 rpm’s than you can make running wide open 😂. Hell it would prolly scare you to death if you ever stool on the throttle. See your problem is your Ego, I’ve never seen Ford guys act like you with your “my dad can beat your dad up” silly ass One Up comment. We’ve always been able to give credit where credit is due but for some unknown reason this truck seemed to upset you for whatever reason and you just had to go and try to act tougher. Why? You wouldn’t have gotten any backlash at all if not for your attitude, but now here we are.
