Today Universal announced that Poseidon's Adventure, a walk through special effects show that has stood at Islands of Adventure since 1999, is closing forever in a few short weeks! I bring you along as we tour Lost Continent, including Poseidon's Fury, the gorgeous area theming, a look inside the Sinbad theatre, the talking fountain, the Treasures of Poseidon gift shop, and a look at Hogsmeade and Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, to see how much space Lost Continent once had and what it looks like today, before a huge attraction is closed forever! I bring you along to document and share as much as I can an attraction that, both loved and hated, will soon be an extinct theme park attraction, so that we can remember it as a soon to be piece of Universal history together! I’m absolutely gutted to hear this news that the ride is going so soon (next month!), Islands is my fave park and I love the ride and that entire area.
I’ll not get to ride one more time as I’m in the U.K.

I loved Poseidon’s Fury. So funny and campy. That water tunnel is fantastic.
You are always having fun & most importantly being polite- not annoying and have a way of showing content without being lost in the fact your workplace is other people's vacation. I always tell my fiance we could actually be friends and enjoy the park with them when you guys come in my feed!! It's giving real classy 👌 you go girl keep being you 💯👏
I really appreciate that! I always try to be respectful of everyone, other guests and employees as well. And at the end of the day, I’m at the park to enjoy myself too, I’m a Passholder and I spend most of the day with the camera off just enjoying myself. I genuinely love the park and want to treat them w love!!! You don’t even know how much I appreciate this!!

Absolutely love the casual Ant and Dec reference, knowing us Brits would know who they are! I'm pretty fearful of fast rides so I will miss Poseidon's Fury because it was actually something I could do with my family. Another great video - thanks Jackie!
Always such a fan of the theming and overall vibe of this attraction. The scale of the facade is unreal and love the feeling of going deep into an ancient temple. The tech used for the tunnel and finale showroom always impressed. Never was a fan of the actual final show but the rest made up for it, and certainly speaks to the longevity of this unconventional attraction.

I love Poseidon's Fury. It's extremely cheesy, but that's part of what makes it so fun. I'm going to miss it, but I hope what they put in will be able to fit in with the Lost Continent theme. I love that area of IOA.

We were really sad to hear the news! I know it is not one everyone loves but I am one of the people who really like it. I'm glad we have one more trip planned before it closes!!
I didn't grow up going to Universal, but I fell in love with the Lost Continent the first time I walked through the area. The theming, the fountain, THIS attraction, the shops and food are everything I could ever want as a theme park fan and mythology nerd. I wish I could have gone when Sinbad's and Dueling Dragons were open, but the little of what's left was a nice breather from the other IP Islands and a testament of what can happen when designers have the creative freedom to just Make Something Awesome.
Agree and will miss this kind of area where they can design and use full creativity to develop and tell stories!
I love that you're so positive. You are like a ray of sunshine. I always thought that if they could make a ride that combined the elements of journey to Atlantis at SeaWorld with Poseidon's Fury that it would be the coolest ride ever. Almost like a differently themed, boat version, of the Mummy.

Two pieces of Poseidon oddness:
1) the shallow pools of water in front were meant to be a splash pad sort of kiddie pool. BUT, made too deep and was considered a pool needing lifeguards, etc... You can still see the hand railings going down into various pools of water
2) If your 7 year-old freaks out in middle of the attraction, the route they send you out takes you to a dark back alley with no signs
BTW: just like Spiderman and Transformers (one in each park), why not bring Mummy style coaster into the area!!!

Hey Jackie the only thing that kept me from tearing up was your wonderful smile and the way that you send good vibes and Enthusiasm through your videos. Kay has only been once (when i took her 5 yrs ago) to Universal so she is kinda fuzzy about remembering the ride but i remember it distinctly. Ive been on it a few times and its one of my faves. I can't get there till march so i will miss the closing. Thanks for giving me one last memory with this wonderful attraction

Your tours are always well done and interesting , I love how you capture things like you show big views and then focus on small details too , very good eye and appreciate how you explain things too. I always feel sad when a long-standing attraction goes away. It's always amazing when they stand the test of time, plus so many people develop all those memories & emotional connections. It's hard to say goodbye. Personally, I never had that with Poseidon's Fury, I actually just experienced it for the first time a few months ago LOL, but I can totally see why it was a cult classic. & it's always sad to me when IPs take over original ideas too, especially given the history of the Lost Continent. BUT......... considering the rest of IoA is & always has been IP based, I don't feel too bad about a different IP taking over the space. I personally am hoping for a different theme than Legend of Zelda, but we shall see what happens!!! (CMON ANIMAL CROSSING!!!! ;P )

Poseidon's Fury was one of the first attractions we ever experienced at Islands. Granted, the water tunnel only works half the time, and the experience relies wholly on the acting capacity of the guide that you get - but the theming is next-level, and the sights and smells are embedded into memory forever. We're really going to miss the experience. 🥲 But if the show must go, then, yes, we _must_ keep the facade! Bring on the long-rumored Legend of Zelda ride concept, I say; it'd fit in perfectly with the Lost Continent. I think The Mystic Fountain would be on board! Great video - always adds something special to our day to see our favorite creator roaming around our favorite park. ✨
I will miss it. The smell when you walk through the water tunnel needs a candle.

I always enjoyed Poseidon attraction, Yes, it’s a bit misleading w/no ride or seats, but still cool & unique. Shocked that they did all that updating & then to close it!.. Maybe a re~theme or extension of Harry Potter or Fantastic Beasts 🤷🏻♂️ it will be exciting to find out either way! 😁
Great vlog Jackie!! Wow, can’t believe Poseidons Fury is permanently closing!! When I was at Islands of adventure couple years ago before Covid. I remember it being closed so I never got to go through it! It will be interesting to see what’s going to replace!! I love the merman statue in the doorway of the gift shop. It’s so cool! Love Hogsmeade it’s so pretty and cool!! Hagrids ride is so much fun!! Love that ride!! ❤️❤️😊❤️❤️
I loved that attraction when I was last there in 2001. That was the best walk-through attraction. I thought it was better than Twister because of how it engaged the audience. It sucks that it's going away. I'm going to miss it.
I miss all the old style effects walk through story attractions!! I miss Twister so much! 🌪️ 😢 got to get a little taste of disaster at Universal Hollywood on the tram tour.

Great Vid! This month is my 3-Jear-Anniversery at your Channel! I say: The B E S T Time of my Life. I don't regret anything.
Years ago I went thru Poseidon's Fury and thought it was really cool. The only thing I did not like was the lightning flash at the end. It temporarily blinded me for a second.
Gonna miss it!! I absolutely loved it, the huge gorgeous and very detailed facade. The work from the artists there is just incredible!! I liked the show too. The first time I got thru the water tunnel, I kept thinking "what is this magic, I barely get any splashes of water", then the last room. Never been to a show where the room "transformed", so that was a nice surprise. It's great fun overall and well worth the wait!
I'll miss it! Luckily, I'll be back in Orlando in 2 weeks, will have time to see it before it closes, yay!!
Monday I’ll be at universal I’m so excited 😆 and the last time I went on the hulk coaster I was 11 years old I went on a fifth grade trip with my class and let me tell you my mom and I were so scared I absolutely hated it haha good times hope you are well Jackie love your videos as always

When we went to Universal I truly didn't know much about Poseidon's Fury, but the wonderful theming pulled us in and we had an awesome time! Sad to hear that it's going away, but definitely excited to hear what's coming next!
When I was younger I went through this and I thought it was a ride but I remember I really liked the water tunnel. When I went here last year I was excited to do this again because it had already reopened but it was closed and I was sad. Now I’m more sad that I won’t be able to do this again 😢💙
I have memories of Poseidon’s fury. I walked by the attraction and I had fun 🤩 mementoes and I watched it on CZcams and it definitely 👍 brought me excellent memories on CZcams.
I never saw the show before but it looked entertaining when I saw people’s videos of it!! The scenes in the last room looks spectacular! I like the water tunnel part!!
Idk where I have been, but I didn’t know the Sinbad show was closed. Back when I worked there, we would have meetings in that show area.

Universal can do so much with this amazing real-estate. Totally support the decision to close PF, unlike Disney's criminal decision to close Splash Mountain.
The theme for Poseidon is different enjoyed the look.The ride was fun. The effects are fun. Sad to see it go hopefully they keep the outside exterior the same and add something different ride wise or update it. It's nice to occasionally just have a theme that isn't related to tv or movies. Thanks for the update.
We loved this Poseidon's Fury!! Sad to see it close... The only issue we had with it was a point you hit on! Maybe an update on the "Battle" footage and that experience would've been pure gold!! beautiful sets!!!

I did this a few years back. I wouldn’t say it was an amazing experience, but it was good cheesy 90s theme park fun with some impressive effects.
Though I expect Zelda to take over Lost Continent, part of me really hopes that it stays in its original form. The world has enough IP-based lands and attractions

A fitting tribute to Poseidon's Furry. I remember the Lost Continent as a kid visiting Islands of Adventures in the early 2000s. The land seemed so tailor fit for the park. The market place used to be so lively, the great Sindbad show and the Furry attraction was a one of the kind experience. I just hope this attraction doesn't have the same fate as the Sindbad theatre and remain vacant for years. 🌊⚡⚔🔥
So funny story, last went to Universal was when this park was in soft opening week before official opening, so excited to see this, only had limited time in park because flying back to NY in evening. Waited in line for hour and half, stuck in the room with mural only for them to close it and have us leave out the back. So never got to see show in person. 😢 prob not going back until next fall.

@@SuperEnthused yeah lol granted this was like 24 years ago but least got to check out alot of rest of park, Spiderman was biggest attraction at the time, had like 2 hour wait but managed to ride Hulk 4 times.

I was last at Universal Orlando back in 2008 and I really loved Poseidon’s Fury. I’m finally planning my trip back for November and this attraction will be no more…😔
This makes my heart so sad😭 we didn't get to do it on our last trip because it was closed for referb. It opened back up a week after we left....😔 if I was independenly weathly I'd fly out for a short trip...just to experience it one last time.
I won't be able to experience it as I won't be getting my passes until August. This is one attraction that I was looking forward to.
The aged paint effect is super simple but time consuming. Basically a fresh coat of paint is put on, dried, and another paint color is sponged on creating that effect, they also might add jet black paint which is misted to create the illusion of dirt and grime over years, and mold is bits of fake grass and green fabric that looks like mold and mildew. It’s simple diorama building on a bigger scale.
I am so so sad, this has been my favorite attraction since I was in 4th grade 🥺

The part that makes me the most sad is I feel like this means Mythos days are numbered as well.
Well darn. I guess I’ll never get to experience Poseidon’s Fury! I haven’t been to Universal in 30 years and was hoping to get there next year. I love quirky one of a kind attractions that leave you wondering “How did they do that?”.

😊hi, this was another great informative farewell ride vlog. I haven't been to Universal since 1995, so it’s definitely nothing like it was when i was 12 years old. Poseidon Fury sounds like I would have liked it. All well life is full of changes. I wonder how many more changes will happen, before we get to go in 2024. Thanks for all the enthusiastic updates.
