The NHL doesn't care about Headshots

  • In last night's game against the Washington Capitals, the New York Rangers Artemi Panarin layed out TJ Oshie with a hit directly to the head. I am so unbelievably sick and tired of seeing these kind of hits in our game and the avalanche of excuses that always seems to follow.

    1. Panarin doesn’t leave his feet.
    2. The elbow stays down.
    3. Head was not the main point of contact.
    4. No interference because oshie had the puck.
It’s playoff hockey and this was a picture perfect hit by the rule book

So if I run someone's head and I stay grounded, it's okay? If I run my shoulder through someone's head it's okay? Even if I grant you (in good faith) that his head wasn't the primary point of contact (which I do think it was), does that matter? If you take a guys head off or make contact with a guys head I still think that should be penalized. We can't keep making an excuse every time someone's head gets taken off.
