They apologized only in Japanese on the Japan branch's Twitter page.
They did not want this apology to be exposed to the rest of the world.
However, the Japan branch probably had little to do with the production of this game.
Incidentally, Shadows concept art has other plagiarism issues. We are watching to see what happens with those.
And yet UBI is still trying to sell this concept art.
We do not know what kind of behind-the-scenes communication took place between the organization and UBI.
One thing is certain: the Japanese do not forgive UBI.

That's what I wondered. Why is Ubisoft Japan apologising? We all know who did it. The usual suspects who accuse everyone else of being the bad guy yet when they do something we all know is bad, they make excuses or try to remain quiet about it and hope we won't notice. As you say the main account should be profusely publicly apologising and offering some form of compensation to the specific group they stole from. I get tired of the double standards of those involved.

Imo comparing it with pirating fits: it's stolen, intellectual property. Ubisoft made and makes money with that. You would punish a person, who pirates content and sells it. You should punish a company, who does the same.
Imo, they should pay the real intellectual owners. I hope, Ubisoft gets forced to do so. What they did, is not okay. It's not okay, what they did with the game and to Japan, and it's not okay, how they stole and use other people's work...

Most popular event in Poland, called "Battle of Grunwald" reanacts said battle, one of the biggest medieval battles, where alliance of polish-ruthenian forces (which would led to Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth) clashed with Teutonic Order forces (which later transformed into Prussia, which in turn, reunited Germany into 2nd Reich).

Ubisoft has ALWAYS been trying to cut corners in it's games Art Design. When Beyond Good and Evil 2 trailer got released, they were promoting some program where Artists could make art for the game (but don't get paid with money; just recognition). They were crowd-sourcing their game's art and world design to random people. I wouldn't be surprised if Ubisoft eventually cancels all art design folks and replace them with AI generated material in the future.

I am Japanese and use the translation function.
As for the flag of the current Japanese organization, for which the game company made a token apology this time,
I think they apologized because Japan has been making a fuss and finally the awareness of the country abroad has spread.
Otherwise, the fact that they have been ignoring the large number of messages from many Japanese people and the comments and questions from the current organization for a long time will never change.
By the way, from the Japanese side, most of the scenery and non-player characters that the game company found on the game screens that it has released now look like they are almost all constructed from a large amount of Japanese concept art and some stolen images from China.
The use of the organization's flag is cute.
If you are interested, there are many videos on CZcams posted by Japanese people that explain in detail where the stolen images are.
However, even us Japanese people laughed at the use of electric poles and guardrails, following the ropes used in modern construction sites.
If they insist that this is perfectly accurate historical fact,
how long ago was Japan modern?
I apologize if there are any typos.
