    If you're a USWNT fan you should be ecstatic, if you're a Chelsea fan you should be gutted. What a get for the USWNT! So much talent and time was wasted under Vlatko.

    people can't go from 'she is one of the best managers and top choices" to questioning it. Spain, Sweden, England, etc coaches have the ability to deal with only having their players for short periods of time. I always wonder what makes UWSNT practices better or at a higher level than say laura harvey's practices for the reign

    Seeing that there’s a lot England this and that in the comments. I don’t believe England has a chance against a healthy USWNT, that Sweden World Cup match showed you what this team can do given them right direction. Will we ever forget Vlatko? He gave us sleepless nights 😂

      England went to the World Cup missing half of their starting 11 through injuries the USWNT has no excuses for their abysmal performances. Sweden sat back and let the USWNT have the ball and they didn't know what to do with it. USWNT had three chances in the penalty shootout to take advantage and they choked on all three 😂

      @@Skyrose1978 one bad coach with bad tactics and you say that the US women’s team is not good in my next World Cup United States will win. They made them get the gold Olympics. To compare England to Spain is insane. Spain is above England. US women’s national team is leagues above England. I’d say Spain in the US or the top teams back in a year or two and we will see who’s right. By the way, England is not technical at all.

    What is Lisa talking about? The USWNT didn't come out of the Group stage in the World Cup??? I hope she misspoke, because it was the group of 16 where we didn't advance from.

      Still, it's considered a failure for the USWNT. Until this summer, the worst the USWNT finished at ANY major tournament was third place.

    As a Chelsea supporter I’m devastated by this news because of the awful decisions our ownership has made at every turn since coming in. I just don’t see them appointing anyone good and it feels like with Emma leaving our whole women team will fall apart and the women’s team is the only bright spot of the club since our men are damn near battling relegation every season. This one really hurts 😭

      Omg chill out. Sure losing Hayes will be an adjustment but don't you know how stacked the Chelsea women's side is? Great players don't just stop being great after a manager leaves.

      I always thought it was an odd assumption, given everything he's built with Australia. Especially for him to just leave in the middle of a cycle.

    The Emma Hayes hire is not a done deal any more than Tony Gustavsson is done deal. Either of those choices will cause huge upheaval for their respective teams. I suggested Pia Sundhage because she's superbly qualified and available NOW which is VERY important to USWNT. No way can USWNT wait until Hayes comes free in May after WSL season ends. There's just not much to choose from beyond Pia.

    do not want Hayes. ive watched enough of Chelsea to know she actually cant stand up to big personalities. ive watched her coach an all star team and her only offense is kick the ball long to Kerr. when teams took that away she had nothing, no tactics changes, no ideas, nothing.

      Sam Kerr has barely played this season due to injury and Chelsea is second in the table. They have plenty of goal scorers; that club is stacked.

    I for one would love to see Pia Sundhage come back. She's got all the credentials and of course a proven winner record. Also, convincing Emma Hayes to sell her soul to leave Chelsea is an outsized request. Pia is available now and can organize, she knows how to organize, the players at the national level.

      It makes sense to me cuz USWNT wants to announce their new coach in the upcoming days, and Emma Hayes doesn't want to leave Chelsea in the mid of the season without any coach in replacement. Staying til the end of the season is a much decent farewell to the team she stayed for more than 11 yrs. Rumors saying she will join USWNT in the upcoming international games, but officially become the new head coach after the wsl season.

    None of what Lisa had to say is relevant to coaching a National Team. That's not to demean Emma as a manager, nor is to say that she can't mold the US back to the top of the table. It's just not the same type of situation where she can "build her own team". We'll see what they are like in the Olympics. Of course, the one manager they'd like to have is unavailable and obviously there are not other managers that qualify to take the position. Not saying it's bad hire. Just saying Lisa is full of it with trying to justify that all of Emma's experience will translate. But, lets hope it does work to our favor. Talking heads, do you ever just get your fill of them?

      @@couturecriminal8330maybe or maybe not. Ellis won 2 world cups and we’ve had elite coaches in the past. Vlatko was disappointing, but I have faith in Hayes to do well. Idk what will happen but I know she’s elite.

      @@sophiecrawford4567 Ellis was not elite tactically though I know she is in your hall of fame or whatever but USWNT fans would complain about the lineups she picked also Europe had not caught up with US yet they have now and Hayes can set up tactically better than most and she will put Morgan and the older players to pasture and put the young exciting players in.

      @couturecriminal8330-Absolutely agree, but because the almighty dollar speaks louder than it ever has in the history of professional sports these days, I would bet my life (and said so as much last year after hearing her in an interview saying just how much she enjoyed her stay with the *Chicago Red Stars* as there manager from 2008/2010) that *Emma Hayes* most definitely will be patrolling the sidelines for the *USWNT* the next time any of us see her managing after her stay with *Chelsea* comes to an end at the conclusion of this current campaign. That said, as the US Women’s team is currently constructed, I don’t even think the the good lord himself could turn that ship around. So best of luck to her, because I really & truly do believe that she will need it once she takes the reigns in America, as well.

    Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban had very short, dismal professional coaching careers. Jimmy Johnson, on the other hand, did well with the Cowboys, but he was the exception. If he is really going to be available, I would wait for Tony Gustavsson. Matt Crocker will make a smart decision, I hope.

      @@Delboy0They can be technical, it’s more so their youth teams aren’t winning anything. The USWNT “golden generation” is ending and it might be another 5-10 years before we have another lot of players that are truly elite. It’s the same as Spain, they might not look the same in 5-10 years down the road. Also wouldn’t compare the USWNT & England, they’re pretty much even the only difference is one has a good coach.

They were never the golden generation, they were just a generation with no competition because the rest of the world didn’t fund their programs. The lack of success at youth level for the USA is an indication of the future now that funding of other countries are funding their programs. None of the previous World Cup winning teams would have won against England or Spain. You are delusional if you think USA can play like England. Where are the American players who can play like Kiera Walsh? They don’t have them or ball playing defenders like England. It is all about speed and athleticism in women’s soccer in the USA . That is no longer enough to beat the top teams. England have much more room for improvement because they excluded black girls out of the elite training programs since they turned fully professional and when the female athletes play soccer in England, game over USA

    DREAM ON! US cannot afford Emma Hayes. What are we going to pay her? 50 million dollars per year? Is she going to have a training facility as good as Chelsea with as good a staff and scouts and all the support she has now? Dream on!

      @@W4TSKY The English Premier League is the richest football League in the world it generates billions annually. Managers in the women's game get paid peanuts compared to the men's game. This is why the USMNT will never have a quality coach the US Soccer Federation won't cough up that kind of money for the men.
