  • Unboxing, setup, and review of Topeak's wireframe basket. It comes with an adapter to mount to their proprietary rack system, called the Fixer 6. I found the way this accessory comes packaged is odd, and you need to make sure you have all the right parts when you leave the store.

    I really like what Topeak is going for in this product with the quick mount track system but it always looked too short to me so I'm glad I checked out your review because you just confirmed what I was thinking. What a shame. I might try the Basel MIK system instead.

    Nice! Customizing the Rover is fun, isn't it? I'm going to cut the Rad large platform to use as a base for quadcopters, a plastic storage crate, or gym bag.

    I would want the mount the full length of the slide on track because I was thinking about Buying that but like if I want to put some heavy stuff like milk is it gonna be putting to much stress on the mount

    Will it hold my 5 rolled tacos with guacamole and cheese when I ebike to pick up food. I need something like this to swap out my bike bag because the taco containers won't fit so you must aquit.

    Can the mtx rear basket be used in front with a TETRARACK R1

    Because it's proprietary that only fit the Topeak rack system, they can charge you $45 for such a simply basket.

    I’m surprised the track for it doesn’t go all the way like the topeak rack bags have

      It does not come with it. There is no exact place to attach the netting, you sort of attach it anywhere. But I recommend it. See link above.

    Any suggestions on a basket? Do you recommend this one or another basket. I just purchased a new RadCity ebike.

      I need to get a better topeak mount for the mini. Decision is still out on the basket until I secure the whole system better. But I think the basket will need some extra attention no matter what given how the mount is. Other options will require a permanent mount likely, and on a folding bike?

    It’s a shame that amount is such a letdown for Topeak. I’ve considered the Ibera system, which seems better designed. Though their actual racks don’t look as well made, and they don’t offer a basket like this.

    • @BartlettBlog
      @BartlettBlog  Před 3 lety

      I'm hoping that they come out with a better version of this. Really, they just need to make a better mount. You can use the same basket. We'll see.

    The MTX hard polymer system is garbage. Since they don't keep to high tolerances, i have had my TrolleyTote jump off my MTX rack, and that one had FULL LENGHT rail on the basket/tote itself. Due to flex and such and just climbing down a curb carefully at low speed, with barely 2kg of stuff in it, it just torqued enough for one side to slip loose and then the entire thing, minus the rack, was off my bike. I could never fully trust it since then. Sure, i added padding to the insides of the rack mount to make it fit better, and that has kept the system fine for me, getting it off/on the bike is an entire chore, and definitely no longer 'quick click'. That was the entire point of this to be honest, to be able to quickly and effortlessly take stuff off and put it on. If only they used aluminium or steel plates for both joinings, instead of the current polymer, this entire thing wouldn't be a problem.
    I didn't even look or consider this 'half' mount for anything because it's just retarded when you have the full rail availible there and i could entirely imagine this being a problem.

    Wow, what a crappy design. Your wife can mount her bike if she’s a gymnast. I guess, as a good husband you can get her a small ladder. I’ll pray for her…
