I usually choose 3 thru hikers every season to follow. Your well spoken intro makes you a contender! Looking forward to following your adventures. You will probably sleep in your tent more than planned. The shelters are great for bad weather but fill up fast in the bubble. Early arrival is essential for a spot. Then there's the mice, the snores, others moving in and out and all about -- hope you're not a light sleeper -- it's a lot! Congrats and best of luck!
Thanks!! I am most worried about the snoring. The mice actually don’t bother me. And, I’m a bit of an early bird so I would rather be on trail by 6:00/7:00a and setting up at a shelter an hour or more before dark. If I night hike, I usually do it in the morning than the evening. But I’ll see how it goes the first few weeks.

Also having lived in SE Pa., I’ve hiked several sections of the AT in Pa., Md., NJ, NY and recently Ga., and I’ve often thought that if I ever decided to thru hike the AT I would do it exactly like you are; knock out Md., Pa., NJ and NY in late Fall/winter before heading to Springer in early March. I’ll be following along on your journey and wish you the best of luck. Godspeed.

I live a mile from the trail as you approach Butternut. Great place to visit, and I would love to host a break. I live in a mansion with links to many historical families, but you might recognize a reference to Morgan Stanley.
