Sounds great!
It's the magic!
Tudo começou com um toque de sax bem suave, mas quando entraram os outros metais, o poder apareceu.
I love them🤩They are superstars!! So proud of these young musicians ❤
Fela's spirit is rejoicing 💚
Long live Kuti
Really and I guess that's one off the reasons Iam going to listen to this often.
Right?!
Absolutely right. Yes Fela is in the air
Ok. This just appeared in my timeline today, 2/15/24. WHY is this my first time hearing this absolutely wonderful musical group?? As someone said, I can hear Fela's influence all over this piece!!💕💕💕
The bassline can go on for an eternity without being boring.
careful what you wish for
I really dug it.
I was thinking the same thing. Love it.❤
Cyclick ❤
When the trumpet and trombone come in, wow. Sounds like a 20 piece horn section. 👏👏
Dear Lord!🎉 This African woman’s heart is dancing. Some rockstar sistaaazzzz🙌🏾👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💪🏽
That sax player in on fire. Her opening jam was soooo sweet! This is awesome!
Yebo...ISH !
@@fionahiggins6682 And don't forget the guitarist - pocket rocket!
She knows her Bebop and her instrument backwards and forward
im dancing whit eyes closed bro
Her Alto is bebop, but so free - and her language is soulful
Ladies and gentlemen...this is what I call perfection
When I saw the sisters with glorious head wraps on the brass, I knew I had to be here.
I’m a high school trumpet and occasional F Horn player and I can’t tell you how riveting it is to see these goddesses sing through their horns 🤘🏾🤘🏾
Yes, I find them to be excellent musicians. I enjoyed listening and watching them play.
Word!!!
Stick with it. Your instrument is you "ticket" to travel and meet people to go higher in life.
Stay focused dating, tho normal will have to set aside. Education and increasing your "tickets" value at this time is what's important and must be built now.
Look kid, life is a trip, if you got talent and sense to study, have time tools and make ...hence MAKE a way to invest in your gift, it will give for a life time.
You don't have to been a "known celeb", that's another platform. Your GIFT , beset right, kept healthy and respected and above all appreciated bmas angift from the creator....YOUR GIFT WILL SUSTAIN YOUR LIFE.
Remember,
Practice before rehearsal.
Learn more than one instrument and avenue in the entertainment field.
Don't drink and stash your gig money away.
Stay safe and focused and know by your ish.
Be well Brass.
Are you going to upgrade to a double horn? As for singing through your horn, if you hum a fifth while playing the root, you can get the 3rd in as a sympathetic vibration and play a chord.
the bass player deserve a standing ovation
I love the look on the trumpet players face. She just knows how good this is
This is some serious next level playing. Please do a tour in the States. The camera work, audio and editing are top notch. Class act. Bravo.
That guitarr solo😭😭😭 Damn!
Leave all that stress behind, you are at that area of youtube where the music cool, drinks are not watered and cheap as heck, atmosphere is great and the people are beyond cool. sit back, put those headphones, close your eyes and go on that journey.....
❤
Why is everybody just sitting there? I'd be dancing my butt off
Me too I don't get it but I kinda do
Bc they’re recording and if the audience stood up, the band would be blocked.
I so wish she kept going for longer, that sax solo was awesome, she was on fire.
this guitar solist deserves to be honoured
You know what's the name of this guitar player? I'm loooking for it

Man is a beast on the strings.
What lucky people to have witnessed this. Cudos to the recording engineers - the sound quality is so full, despite the room looking like a challenge, sonically. I came here by accident, but I'll be following up on this collective.
Thanks! It's all about the right mic choice and placement. I can't believe how many views this video has now. I was paid £60 for the night and the band were paid nothing. Don't support Sofar.
@@JellyFlavoredGerman I bet the video guy was paid more
Childrens of Fela Kuti... from Montréal i fall in love with these 3 womens... and the guys too of course. merci pour cette musique
First of all, great performance. It satisfies my soul! Secondly, thank you to whoever knew how to mic their instruments properly so we could get this beautiful sound! It sounds so lovely! Like I was actually there!
Fela will be very happy where ever he is right now. Nice cover of Fela's Kolomentality (Colonial Mentality)... Big up sisters.
Right u are smiling and liking it
I agree. Saw him live years back.

No he wouldn't. Just sweet sounds with no message. It's like an exotic black circus show for rich white people.
Trips me out how people just be sitting there, not bobbin their head 😂or nothing. That’s so hard for me to do. I can not even not smile when I hear groovy tunes. My insides are like let’s jam, man 💃🏿 🕺🏿
Girl on the trumpet knows how to put some real feeling into it, damn
She's amazing.
True...Beautiful
How can a human being dislike such a powerful piece of work like this one? Look at the girl in the middle, JUST LOOK AT HER EYES AS SHE PLAYS! She's feeling every single note so intensily it makes me wanna pick up my guitar just to get in tune with the same vibration! Those sounds are a force of nature!
Absolutely! But they are women, not girls.
Because of the Colonial Mentalityyy!!
Amen! Don't take Thumbdowners personal...they are not in the Vibe Baby...everyone has their journey. They'll get there om their time. In the meantime, Let No-Thing take you out of the VIBE and enjoy the rode😁💖💖💖🙏🏽✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽
She s feeling that Trumpet in her soul
Man, I never seen a lineup like this--sistas on lead horns with bruthas in the rhythm section jammin' hard!!!
Eric Robinson Oh My! its an absolute Joy to watch. Each Sister shows their personalities in their instruments. Very Empowering vibe for All our young aspiring Black sisters
I am really loving the head wraps too!
CZcams people, you should be smart enough not to put rotten ads in the middle of pieces of art.
just get adblock
My beautiful Black Queens throwing down with horns just doesn't get any better.😉 I've never hear of you all, but now I'm a super fan!👏💝
Same here.
Bellissime tutte ❤❤❤
My soul is dancing. Respect and love from Egypt
Respect and love from spain too

You need to wear your crown too.

The trumpeter is amazing!
Everything about this is beautiful. It may just be me, but I cant help but to think of my ancestors, and how far we have come and how resilient, brilliant, and beautiful we are.
What a powerful image to see these women holding it down with the brass.
The definition of Black Skin Gold Soul!
... Gold horns!
All hail to our Nubian Queens!! What talent.
I really needed this in my life today!!! This band is fantastic! I don’t know how the crowd can sit so still! I’d have to get up and dance at one point!
Ha ha 😂 me too i am 💃
They must have to sign a form to show no emotions. They are always subdued like they were sedated before the show.
And there are times to sit and drink it in ..
I was so inmmersed in the music that didn’t even noticed that there were people
Riight they are sitting like bumps on a log
Tears came to my eyes, I can feel the spirit of revolution through this!!!!!!!
My heart rejoiced 🙌💖🎼
those drummer tho insane group sharing love
Love the brass. A bit of Fela vibes as well. Stunning ladies.
It's a Fela Kuti tune..👍🏿
I would have 0 issue listening to a three hour album full of these wonderfull sounds! Very cool
I love their swagger on stage so layed back and smooth
Fela Kuti lives on!!!. We can hear him all over. Teacher don't teach me nonsense. Colonial mentality (if you know, you know).
How is that crowd staying so still? I was sweating I was groovin so hard
They sre in awe!
I think people are more self conscious these days. When I hear music on the street, I always groove out because I am well past the age of caring what other people think. It’s a great place to be, “dance like nobody’s watching”
@@anele.nsithole5593 Your explanation. I like it.
Probably in awe
i think it might be because they are all white
I'm grinning like a maniac..,Awesome musicians.....right here are a group of young people playing real music. I Love them. Absolutely Brilliant. ,✨💕🎶
They sound absolutely fantastic, they are slamming!!!!!!!!! Fela would be proud.
It’s refreshing to see Black women without blond weaves or trying to mimic European so called standards of beauty. A Black women’s true beauty can’t be denied.
Much respect!!
+J B ~ Thank you❣️
I'm feeling the same way. Love the look!
Yesss they are beautiful!!
J B, Indeed... Bingo!!!😉
Why is it so necessary for you to make as a comment why can't you just enjoy the sisters and let them be my God no one else does this
Those drums had me right away! Oh man! These ladies mean business!❤ then the guitar just goes crazy!!!❤❤❤
Keep on rising sistahs!!! See you at the Cape Jazz 2024
This came on autoplay while I was doing some work.... was loving it so came to see what it is... Being met with beautiful black women playing instruments was f'in brilliant. Absolutely loved this. x
I wore locks for 14 years and I cut them off and wore my hair naturally curly for about 6 years.
I miss my locks tremendously so I decided to relock.
I'm on my second week of my locks and I feel amazing.
I don't need to look like someone else I need to look and be who I am.
I have beautiful hair. Black women you have beautiful hair ,plus you save a lot of money to do some other things such as traveling......
Showing you with White Light. Ase.
I too have locs😉
Love my locks too! Peace & Blessings
Locks are perfect. Greetz from a white bread
Yes but it takes a lot of time to maintain blk hair is not easy to always do
These sisters are fire! Yes forever to Afrobeat!
What a gem I stumbled upon!!!!! I must have watched it about 5 times. How this has any thumbs down completely amazes me.
"Colonial Mentality" song by the late Fela Kuti of Nigeria. Fela lives on.
That lady sure gives some solid Fela vibes on that saxophone. kudos
Exactly what I felt
Jpkrao you never know..Fela had 27 wife’s..
She is a true Saxophone player. No nonsense.
The best Afro Jazz pieces I have ever heard. Those Musicians are phenomenal. 1 million thumbs up. Thank you. More please.
WHAT POWER!! I understand that the vibe of sofar is very chill and minimal but I wouldn’t be able to help myself from jumping up and grooving to these sound waves. Absolutely ecstatic grooves. Much love!!!!
Well this was an absolute pleasure. Thank you 🙏🏾
Damn this rocks...what a groove ..mad solos ..laid back but smouldering. Fela lives ☆
They are some of the most gifted black women on the earth - we are the queens! of talent and beauty! Black men you better recognize the QUEEN OF QUEENS!
This got me dancing a smooth "me, myself and I" soul dance. 🙌🏽 🔥
I am totally in love with Kokoroko!
This is what I've been waiting for since I heard Fela in the early 70s!
This group, these incredible young musicians are carrying the great tradition of Afropop into the future!
I cannot tell you how exciting it is to see 3 women in a horn section that can also solo and improvise with the best of players!
I've always been a fan and supporter of music from anywhere in the African diaspora!
This is the new "IT" for me!
Thanks for posting!
Peace
Maestro
Right
The definition of elegance and poise. This track SWINGS!
I can't understand how they can sit on the floor, hearing such a groove! this music is made to dance, not to be listened to without even a nod of the head !! get up and move your bodies!!
For real! I wondered the same thing ahaha
In the crowd's defense, it looks like a restaurant/lounge type of vibe. Not really condusive to dancing. You dont have to get on the dance floor to appreciate true talent. A head nod while enjoying an adult beverage works just as well.
Wow. This is dope af. That trumpet player is fireeee
You better listen to Lee Morgan or Freddie Hubbard
Every body is on fire!
black women PLAYIN horns is the best thing ever !!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seed and Nérija the sisters pop up again with their horns at full blast check them out
why do you prefer a black woman playing horns to any other colour? are you racist?
@@sideman4501 women, and black women more specifically, are culturally disincentivized and often torn down for playing instruments, especially ones that tend to be played mostly by men, so it's nice to see black women overcoming this barrier, you dense fuck
Will Hagan id like to see some evidence of women being “torn down” for playing instruments. I do appreciate however that women are underrepresented in playing the horns. I wouldn’t narrow it down to black women though as such. Thanks for your kind comments though Willy
@@sideman4501 dont hate. Appreciate.
Amazing groove from my African Home now so very far away. So happy to discover this little gem of music here. Thank you.
I love this! My first time hearing of this band, they are great.
that guitar solo.... Holy God! thank you guys for the great freshness and freedom in you music! this is so alive with full of energy! just thank you!
oh yeah, just when I think it can't get ANY BETTER...that guitar solo!!!!!!! I'm a guitarist myself....and that shit was fire.
The roots never dies.
that moment when you see that these Queens will actually be in your home town in a few weeks.OM Goodnesssssss.Yasssssssssss
The build up is great " the end is always the best ❤️
Just got home from a hard days work. I love this.
I have nothing but respect and
love for these ladies.
Look at who the audience is
subtil, and magic
One of YT's best recommends to me, for sure.
Kokoroko never fails to bring music that speaks to my soul and makes me dance in my seat.
This is simply beautiful! The sound, the rythm, the 'woman power'. Well done Kokoroko Afrobeat Collective. Well done Sofar Sounds.
This is jazz and jazz funk afro American music
Wow! This is exhilarating. What a mind blowing performance by this group of beautiful and talented young ladies in the UK with roots in Nigeria. Stumbling on this video this morning of May 11th 2019 in Massachusetts has really lifted up my spirit. This video brought back fond memories of my teenage years attending the "Sunday jump" at Fela's African Shrine in Lagos in the late 70s with my buddies. May Nigeria regain her lost glory very soon with the advent of purposeful and visionary leaders to take back her destiny!
Amin!Ase!
This is so so so so good. I can't get enough. I come back and watch it every few weeks.
Gosh I listen to this so often, it just puts me in such a good mood and a different mindset. I’m transported every time ❤❤❤
....WOW!!! I have NEVER seen ANYTHING like this! BAM!!! They've floored it! Music world, there's a new standard!
Check out Fela kuti and you'd be in awe.
My beautiful Queens . Never seen anything like this before . I'm sooo proud of them AWESOME!!!
My soul has being nourished. Thank you !!
Peace! I'm loving everything about this.
I was lucky enough to see Dizzy Gillespie perform, many times, many moons ago. This is up there with that, great musicians, fine, fine music!
He was a Blest Bahai . Dizzy was truly a awesome an I agree .
my soul says thank you

I’m so proud of these women!!!! I wish I could have little of their talent.

Richard Colley.. it's cool.. Every One is invited to THIS party lol
Why does it matter what race they are? Why isnt it about the music?
Being someone who loves being in a musical band, I truly appreciate this. Truly talented ladies!
Absolutely incredible. So much respect.
I'm so hooked on this. It really takes me to a new place. Max replay value!
weeping and laughing at same time - i can`t get out of it - divine grace ...
