I've been meaning to make this video for a while, but overtime I have an issue like this one of my quads I end up fixing it on a non-vlog day... but we're vlogging EVERY DAMN DAY! (even if my uploads still get a bit delayed đ)
I hope my approach to trouble shooting a dipping corner helps some of you. It's a common problem I see asked about and this has always been the quickest approach for me. Though it does require you to have spares of each part (which isn't a bad idea anyway)
Anyway, I've been pretty good about getting my videos out but I've gotten a bit behind. I'll be trying to get the next vlog up very soon.

if you don't have spare motor, you can switch the problemed corner's motor with a functional one and see if the problem follows the motor.
^ this is a great tip, thanks Querk. I should have mentioned this. For me, specifically, not having a working drone is a problem because I want to keep cranking out vids, so I take the route that will fix it as fast as possible. But you can take your time and want to actually diagnose before spending money on a replacement part, this is exactly what you should do. Swap to motors and see if the problem follows the motor. If it does not, do the same thing with the ESCs and see if it follows ESC. etc...
Donât do that, I fucked up two quads doing that

Just an idea, if you don't have any spare motors, just swap it with one of your other ones and see if the dip happens on the other arm. That should tell you whether or not it's the motor, if you don't want to order another motor only for it not to be the problem.
Fuzzwad Or always order 5 motors and 5 escs from the start ;) , that way no matter what it is you always have a spare

Those for whom this trick didnât work and is still leaning to one side, all you have to remove this case and take the motor out slowly(the side which had less power and was not taking off from ground) and remove the gear put some glue on the shaft and put it back in. Assemble back and try! Should work if it was caused due to strikes while flying⊠thanks

oh we'll be back to England for sure. This trip did not allow for well planned meet-ups because we were figuring out how to proceed as we went with a limited budged. Though we did end up doing a meet up at the train station in london

That can make it dip like that? Is it bc it isn't getting the power as fast as the rest??
When checking motors check screw lengths when changing motor. Touching winding can cause that dipping- did on my first quad anyway.
Thanks a lot man , my wizard x220 was dipping on throttle punches so Iâll try replacing the motor. Now I just need to figure out why my quad failsafes whenever I use a stick at 100% (other than throttle) for example , full yaw left or right will failsafe the quad and needs to be disarmed then rearmed to fly again.

I would add one step before even replacing the motor. Tear it down, clean it with some motor spray, and hit the bearings with some bearing oil. I've had a quad in the past that was doing this and it was just some debris in the motor or bearing causing it to not spin well. Might save you from binning a good motor. PS, how are you and Steele doing with your $500 spending money?

I was having this same prob so I change to better motots and escs it fixed the prob on lunch out but it dips so hard it almost flips forward after I drop the throttle in punch out and I have airmode on.
Love your videos man I watch them all and you inspire me to make my own vlog style content. I think you should do a video of how you made your own portable soldering Iron.

I got the protek 35 and just replaced 3 motors and it doesn't dip in acro but it does dip in horizon and angle mode, is that just a calibration or could it be the ESC?

the drone s89 is not flying, so i want to do factory reset but the drone is not resetting. I pressed the throttle lever and the directional lever at the same time which I angled to the button right corner but the drone is not factory resting. Pls any help!!!

Is there anything in the tune that can cause this mine is doing it on take off only like its glued the the ground then it takes off faster than expected. But after that it flys fine. I cant punch out from ground at all it will flip. I just replaced the motors with emax rsii 2206 2300kv and I also replaced my esc with hakrc 35a blheli_32 and still doin it. And I really cant afford a flight controller atm cause family medical issues and already spent alot about to give up amd just deal with it

Can i use any motor im new to drones and one corner doesnt spin and i dont have a spare motor so could i buy a new motor? That is similar ofc
i got the same problem whit 1 brand new hypetrain VANOVER engine and its folowed the engine wear i movd it to esc i know was working find newer ben in the air.

My left corner dips when I throttle up..I landed lightly afterwards then the ESC cought on fire..I replaced the ESC and even new motor still dipping or even one motor won't come on I mean it does but when ever it feels like it..I also checked all the solder and it's all fine I don't get what's going on..please help it's really aggravating

But what do you do if your quad dips on throttle pump? As in power delivery imperfect and antigravity cannot compensate enough to make it good? In this case, I would guess the motor windings or wires were somehow damaged.
ArmedMonkey it's definitely an ESC issue but you could swap out every ESC 5x and it'll still be there. this is a nuance issue but makes a huge difference if you're an experienced pilot looking for excellent performance.
for me it was a bad/loud propeller. replaced it with a balanced one and it fix this same issue.
*Please be aware:
Your new motors or escs might get damaged after u solder it to the damaged esc/motor

Ok it took me a while to find some time but I have fixed the problem! Using your strategy I figured out it was one of the esc's (I swapped the motors that were on it because I didnt have new motors). Now the esc itself had not even a single scratch so I did some blackbox exploring and saw that it reached 100% throttle (WOT) way before the others. I reflashed all of them and recalibrated them and that fixed it. I don't know how the problem came to be in a crash but I guess the calibration did the trick. Thanks for the quick tip! I really appreciate these 'real world repairs'.

What if your quad turns instead of dipping?
When I push the controller to start flying ,the drone just fly at his 100% power even when im pushing at 50% power ,and 2 corners doesn't work!
honestly first check if your props are connected tightly to your motor, for me tightening the prop nut fixes 90% of the dipping corners

Hey, i have a racing quad that turns on, connects to the controller an the motors seem to work but it just won't drive the motors or do anything, do you have any idea of what the problem might be.

I'm having a problem like this. But it's because my ground wire to my esc came off after a 70 foot upside-down fall.
70ft crashes can cause some problems haha

can you mix and match motor brands, (stator size and kv rating staying the same) ?
I wouldn't recommend it. There will be variance between manufacturers. It will fly though and probably be fine, just best to have them all match.

drew, what if i go really high and put my throttle to 0% and when the quad is falling flat, it dips to the back left? i have been having this problem on my racing quad for a while, the cg is properly balanced too. And it doesn't dip when i give it any throttle, it only happens when i let go of the throttle stick (0% throttle) any ideas?

Really like your vlogs a lot, said that before.
But I really miss the flying parts in here, this makes the rotor riots a bit grabbing the cream of your cakes for commercial use. I was always afraid that this "relationship" could harm the tastyness of your uploads, and here we go.
Maybe you can do some more own in making some "stick tutorials" ?

in the industry this is called "shotgunning" which is spraying parts and money at the problem till it's fixed đ. I actually had this happen and it was the flight controller but I could tell it was that because arming was intermittent and it didn't want to connect to betaflight
haha well its not randomly spraying parts. I do it in an order that is most likely to fix the problem as fast as possible

Soooo.. any idea what the actual problem is with the motor? I have motors that are a couple weeks old and seem to already dip on one side. Why would new motors dip. No way to solve it without a new motor? These are new motors lol. pls someone
