- Decided to do a cover of The Background by Third Eye blind. One of my favorite songs. More of a guitar player than a singer but I hope to get better. I recorded the vocals on a separate take. Tuning is DADF#AD (A lot of 3eb songs are in this tuning)

Wow you nailed it! Love this song. Such a great timeless album, all of their songs have such a nostalgic vibe to them. I've always said if you want the quintessential sound of the late 90s, 3eb was it. Love you did the little Cadogan solo outro too!

I mean no disrespect.
Dear MC MIXING,
I feel like *you* were actually the one who wrote this song and sold it to 3EB.
I''m a g-dang enormous fan of Jenkins & Co, and like most of their fans, I've cried so HARD to this song. Once you get over that it's fun to sing and you start listening to WHAT you're singing ... wow. Yeah. It's not the same and (if you're unlucky) you know wtf is goin' on.
That said, this "cover" is so good that I don't even think it's a cover. It's THAT GOOD. I feel like you're the one who wrote it because of your *brilliant* and emotionally apropos additions to not only the chordage, but the melodies.
I'm meaning to ask: Is this song yours?
Because if it's not, it is now.
Apologies to everyone offended. I strongly doubt that people who've REALLY gone through this kinda trauma would get upset at this. Most people don't get that the "summer-pop" feel of this album belies the deep sadness it took to get it written.
