      Both Liverpool and Manchester are both close to the Irish sea/ old port towns. The accents are nasal because of it and that comes through in the singing voice. A lot of the Mersey beat bands from the 60s had that same sound and a lot of tge 90s bands hailing from the same areas did too because they were often singing in their own accent and vernacular, so the nasal tone comes through. Noone's 'copying' anyone, they're just singing in their own natural accents.

I think in contemporary times, this song is SO world famous in music history that it can be easily riffed on, taken the piss out of, or whatever - which I always found to be so annoying. This song is GREAT. Most of us listeneners dont know WHY its great until YOU break it down for us - the drum part where Alan comes in, the dissonace, the Suss chords, Noel's writing, Liam's VOICE. Ugh. This is truly one of the best songs ever written - accoriding to their new MG25 releases they recorded this in 1-2 takes. Brilliant. Long live rock and roll. Thanks, Rick!

Too much negativity towards a well put together act. The only criticism I'd have is their arrogance. But however you look at it, they still blow any contemporary band out of the water. I'd actually say they were one of the last good bands to come out of the nineties. The post-95 era is when music started to take a dive.

      There were still really good bands after that like Coldplay, Strokes, Hives, Foo Fighters, Blur, Suede, Green Day, RATM, Prodigy, White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand etc. I would say the nosedive began in the 2010s

      The whole point of Oasis is their arrogance

    • @DavidSmith-ss1cg
      @DavidSmith-ss1cg Pƙed 5 lety +7

      It wasn't just their arrogance; the brothers Gallagher aired out their friction and antipathy in public brawls, with curses and hangovers - which lots of people have seen before. When it became so common that people would leave a place if they came walking in, they developed a bad reputation, which hasn't changed. They probably could make more music, if they weren't fucked in their heads. And by now, who cares?

    That drum sound is pretty legit!!! Kinda sounds like he's playing a small vintage kit tuned really low!

    I like your thorough analysis. I don’t remember ever hearing this song and if I had heard it on my own I might have given it 10 seconds before I would have tuned out. Thanks for bringing it to life. Also just wanted to mention that my heart goes out to you concerning your Auntie. You are so blessed to have her. God bless you Rick.

    If you turn up the volume and listen very closely there is actually a "hidden" acoustic riff at the very end! Also worth noting that it's played without a capo unlike the main acoustic part

    I wonder if Noel had any idea of the music theory behind this song or if it was all instinct. He described this period as a time he could do no wrong, where everything was just quickly pouring out of him. It's amazing when an artist reaches that rare flow state.

    i am spam watching all these great song videos bc i just started watching this channel & it's so bittersweet. most of them came out when i was 5-15 & there are so many songs i loved as a kid but got put off bc people said they were overplayed or overrated & i agreed.
    just hearing these modern classic songs broken down & the parts isolated reminds me finally that they're beautiful. it's sad & happy being jaded for so long & finally allowed to love popular music.
