“What the hell is going on?”
“Call 911!”
Fucking lyrical genius😔
😂😂😂😂
and then all the sudden…I HEARD WATER IN MY NECK 😭😭
I didn't know I could laugh and be terrified at the same time.
once i sprained my knee tripping in the ocean and almost drowned in thigh-high water while my bestie was laughing so I feel you
Had a similar experience. Only reason I didn’t drown is because the ocean’s waves literally pummeled me back to shore. The fucking life guards didnt even do anything. Not even when I was visibly laying, panting, crying, caked in sand head to toe, and my leg was bent out of shape (mine was broken not sprained. Also my friend wasn’t laughing she was just so busy having fun she didn’t even notice😅)
I almost got pulled down a river into rough rapids in front of my entire class + older students on a school trip cuz the water was only thigh deep, so it looked ridiculous--but I couldn't get up cuz the water was too fast and my body was numb from the cold, and no one was doing ANYTHING except watch and laugh despite me swearing up a storm at them and screaming "Don't just f*cking stand there, someone f*cking HELP ME!!!" 😅 Before I got too far down stream, a classmate who was a life guard walked in and got me out 😅😂😂. And that's why I was known as "Sailor" for the rest of the school year by all the older students who didn't know my actual name, since I could apparently swear like a sailor😅😂😂
@@readmachine18 glad you weren’t hurt too bad! And it’s a bit ironic that your nickname was sailor, mine was actually captain lol. Completely unrelated to my incident though, I was called Captain because I was the only kid in my whole grade that had never been on any kind of boat before, they thought it was ironic and then it stuck
@@gwenculver1040 Me too!! I got all shivery afterwards like I was in shock or something, but no lasting damage done, and it was a funny memory down the road 😝.
And lol, nicknames do be like that, hey? 😂 I've definitely had some special ones over the years, the weirdest probably being "Speedo/Speedo-san" 😅😂😂 (that was was a gradual evolution, lol--classmate started calling me "Myadison" instead of "Madison," which then turned into "Meedosin" which became "Meedo" and then I was like "Ew, sounds like Speedo" which of course sealed my fate 😅😂 Speedo-san was used interchangeably, because "Mr. Speedo" is hilarious to a bunch of high schoolers, lol. And I got so used to it that within a few months I just casually responded to the nickname 😂)
@@readmachine18 That’s great lol. The weirdest nickname I’ve had was Ravioli, named ever so gracefully after the scene in SpongeBob “ravioli ravioli give me the formioli” lol. No reason behind it, just happened. Casually responding Speedo/ Mr. Speedo is so funny lol I’d definitely do a double take if I heard it in person😂
When you slay so hard you sprain your NECK!
This why she is a lyrical genius
Sounds possibly like a vertebral artery dissection-a serious diagnosis. Glad to hear you’re doing okay, Chappell Roan!
Or a cerebrospinal fluid leak.
I thought stroke
@@millasbooyou have no idea what you’re talking about omg be quiet LOL
@@Peloponnesia666 Read my effin comment & i do you idiot cracking your neck can rarely cause a stroke
@@Peloponnesia666 and shaking your head hard enough can damage vessels again it’s rare. She was showing the signs you look for in fast please read what fast is
absolutely insane chappel roan lore i didn’t expect to be learning on this day
This is the type of friend we all need😂. Storytime with Chappell is my new fave🥰
how do you feel now that she's gotten super popular lol
@@orangemeooow why would her popularity change how i feel? lol why should it?
@@invisiblue3212 because a lot of people hate when their favorite artists get popular
@@orangemeooow thats immature, petty behavior. Not my way of life. Im a celebrator, not a hater😁
Sounds similar to my story. I was about 21, woke up one morning, couldn't be bothered to use my hand to get my hair out of my face so I just shook my head. When I did that I heard a pop and instantly was worried. I sat up in bed, felt like I was going to vomit, then felt like I was going to pass out. Called for my dad and he started helping me walk out to the living room when I completely lost my vision. Could not percieve light or anything, blind for a good 8-10 minutes. Felt every bump in the road on the way to the ER. Doc refused to do an x-ray or CT scan and insisted it was just a sparin. Gave me strong meds and sent me home. Have dealt with varying degrees of neck pain since. Eventually had a head and neck CT a couple of years ago. Praise God, nothing major, just need to have my cervical curve adjusted with exercise, but it was definitely a very scary experience.
Sounds horrifying! Glad you're on the mend.
I severely sprained my neck & upper back brushing my teeth and had to go to the ER. I also dislocated my thumb snapping my fingers (I don’t snap like normal people) & dislocated my fibula (lower leg bone) multiple times by just bending my knee. Found out like 15 years later that I have Classic Ehlers Danlos Syndrome & that’s why I injure myself very badly by doing basic shit.
oh my god
my heart goes out to you, i hope you’ve found a safe way to live
Like two sentences in I was like … heeeey, EDSer! ❤
Before I got to the EDS part I was like sounds familiar, probably EDS, then confirmed in the last bit 😂😂
Omg my mom does, too! And there’s a chance my siblings have it as well! Got too many stories ☠️
I have similiar problems to this but in my ankles when I so little as walk. I've been hit by cars, been crushed between things, etc. and never broken a single bone and yet I can walk 8 steps and sprain my ankle so bad I lose feeling in it for a few minutes.
The way I did this to myself yesterday when I turned my head too quickly while dancing to your music and then saw this video first thing today 🤣 wow what a time
Oh god same we should start a support group. I was like "how am I going to explain to my parents that I can't move my head because I was on my 5th re-watch of Chappell Roan's coachella set and was dancing too hard to Red Wine Supernova" 😭
@@stellazarivy8742 WE REALLY DO NEED THIS SUPPORT GROUP!! Also her set was INCREDIBLE 😍 I think I hurt my neck to Red Wine Supernova too lol
Wait fr? You sprained your neck so you could barely walk and then threw up and passed out? If so that’s crazy I hope you’re feeling better
@@stellazarivy8742if you didn’t pass out, you probably just got whiplash
This is my first exposure to Chappell Roan haha
every time I hear this story I have existential dread
Tell me why I expected this story to go in a WAY worse direction despite the fact that she’s clearly alive and well 😭😂
Btw for those of you who developed a new fear after watching this video: NEVER let a chiropractor touch your neck!! Neck manipulation can result in pain (acute & chronic), paralysis, or even death due to stroke, vertebral artery dissection, herniated disks, “internal decapitation” (occipitocervical dissociation) etc. Protect Ya Neck 🤙🏼
i can vouch for this! early disc degeneration disease (since my 20s), bulging discs, untreatable hand and neck and arm pain, the list goes on… just don’t do it.
nobody ever completes their chiropractic therapy regimen.
it’s always time for more 🤨
Chiropractic care cured my chronic neck pain. Sorry I'd rather not have debilitating headaches every day of my life.
?? why not a chiropractor, they are trained to know where to touch your neck to avoid that
CHAPPELL WTF YES THIS DID UNLOCK A NEW FEAR THANK U LEGEND
00:36 it's the walk for me
"I whip my hair back n forth, I whip my hair back n forth, I whip my hair back and forth" *CRACK* "uhh..."
HELP WHY DID I LAUGH AT THIS 😭😭
"Mom I don't feel good"
"Don't care, take medicine"
Wow
bruh her mom probably just thought she was dizzy from the head shaking
watched this without realizing she was Chapelle Roan until the end, lmao glad you didn't break your neck thanks for the good tunes
I love this song. My mom used to sing it to me when I was little.
Similarly one time I dislocated my knee on a cruise ship while playing Just Dance and I messed it up so bad that I’ll have to get it replaced when I’m older 🥳
You should do it now, if you wait until you’re older, you’re going to have a harder time healing and be less likely to walk again(especially if you wait until you’re elderly like some people do, they either stretch a a weeks long healing process into a year or they never get their full range of movement back and need a walking tool or wheelchair). The younger you are, the easier surgery is on the body. Unless they specifically told you to wait for a certain amount of development in the body(not your doctor so just guessing), but just make sure you don’t put it off past that
I have no idea how I haven’t sprained my neck already whipping it already doing songs like happier than ever on there 😭
The whiplash of hearing this crazy story and then looking at the channel name and realizing it's the same person who wrote good luck babe 😭
I saw this on tiktok and I watched it many many times and right before the tiktok vote in congress I downloaded it on my phone. It is the only tiktok I have downloaded on my phone. It is the only one I needed.
What I'd really like to know is how this criminally underappreciated video only has 32 comments?!?
Apparently the YT algorithm agreed with you!
Omg I watched this before I realise u were CHAPPEL ROAN and now I love you❤
alright not what i was expecting but absolutely what i needed, miss you are a gem 💖
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Maybe we should all post little raps of our life, just like this. Love it
Why did this have to wait a couple years before discovering this beauty of a song on my recommended
IS THIS THE PERSON WHO MADE FEMINONENON???? Also vicodin is the best, glad everything was fine ❤
Phenomenon…
@@uuddlrlrba8974 it's sweet of you to try to help but that is also not how the song title is spelled
Help I love you girl😂😂😂
LOLLLL YOU'RE THE FING BEST AT STORYTELLING
If you ever think youre gonna pass out, get low, sit down. Dont let the long fall become a head trauma as it hits the ground!
I keep getting this part stuck in my head when im stressed now for some reason: "then i heard water, run-ning-down-my-neck"
When is this masterpiece coming out on Spotify?
As someone with Tourette’s that causes my head to jerk around a lot… yeah… new fear unlocked
Legend has it, she was off the vikes when she shot this video
flawless rhythm
I love you 🥰
Best rap song ever!
As a metal head who headbangs at concerts im nervous 😅
I need y’all to consider your brains more. I did that crap as a kid and remember the headaches 😂 at some point it dawned on me I have a whole organ in my head that controls everything and I should maybe watch it, just saying your brain is fragile and inflammation is real 😅
#whywenod
Slowly removes “Whip my hair” by Willow Smith from my Spotify playlist 😳😳😳😭😭
i am a fan, this was hilarious and ur music is great
Imagine if it happened again when filming this
This is the rap style 2024 needs. #2legit
Go girl!!!😂😂
This went from 0-100 very fast
If it makes you feel better, I was almost mauled by a raccoon today.
Chappell beloved
I did the same thing but was putting my pants on under my covers in bed because it was winter and cold in my room so when I lifted my butt off the bed I heard that noise and felt the worst pain in my neck ever. I cried and my dad had to help me do my hair for school because I couldn't 😂
Highly relatable.
Shes such a mood
Accidental, self-inflicted injuries are the worst. Glad you healed.🌹🌈🏳️🌈🌷🎵🎶Glad you are here. 🌺💕
Idk why this came up when I searched for "read and make out" but I'm not disappointed 😂🤷💕
"Ma'am, please tell me what you want to order. You're holding up the line."
Lmao
To be a kid again😂
She's funny
thats crazy just from whipping your hair?! also ur eyes are REALLY pretty :3
1) You have gorgeous hair!
2) I’m sorry that happened to you!
3) The common expression is “all of A sudden”!
Why are some parents like that?? The minute something dangerous happens they either don’t take responsibility and say we didn’t tell them or wait to the last second to do something.
I did this to my arm while listening to PPC just the other day.
heard water in my neck is crazy
That's so embarrassing!! LMAO, thanks for the pick me up Chappell!
The way this story is told is just the best 😂 something so awful and then with a fun beat 😂😂
I feel like you got dismissed for something much more serious and I’m so glad you’re ok 😬
That’s one Hell of a story! 😮
OH MY GOD I NEVER KNEW THIS WAS CHAPPELL WHAAAAT
I remember in PE in like 2nd grad we were doing some weird warm up thing to stretch our necks and the teacher really freaked out on one kid for doing the neck exercises too rambunctiously, and she said "if you do it like that you're going to damage your spine and you'll have a spinal cord leak and have to go to the hospital" and I have never ever done that stretch ever again in my entire 30 years of life.
Your a good storyteller lol
That’s actually scary
I realized after watching this who this was and oh my god but also protect your musical brain!
#barb 😭 I passed out in a kiddie pool when I was 11 and I almost drowned 😭
aww bb
I remember this video
I gave myself whiplash once. I didn't go to the hospital but I did feel that something was instantly wrong and got nauseous and my mom said maybe I was in shock. I couldn't really move my head for a solid day and then I would slowly start moving it around to stretch it. Took like a week to be fully better.
More context on how if interested:
I gave myself whiplash by daydreaming. When I daydream I rock back and forth so I use a gliding chair or sit on my bed with pillows propped up behind me. I was at home so all my good pillows were at the dorm so I would go more forward than usual to avoid hitting my head on the head board. I use my legs to kinds push my forward but since I was leaning forward more, in order to not launch myself off my bed I started going up more than forward. So I'd lean back after I launch myself to maintain balance (all of this is doen mostly subconsciously so I'm pretty sure that's how I do it)
Anyways, that time I looked up too far or too soon and I launched my body forward but my head went back and yaaaayyyy whiplash. I had never experienced whiplash before and thank FUCK cause that shit hurt so bad. Sooo lucky that happened during Christmas break. Twas a great start to the 2024 new year
Lmmfao w in tf 😂😂😂😂
Peace Love Cool Your OK
One of the top comments on vroom vroom is me talking about breaking my back I get it
Omg I hurt my neck like this but didn’t pass out lol oooofffffff
😍😍😍🖤🖤🖤
Trauma rap... still better than mumble rap.
I sprained my neck when I was in 5th grade putting on socks in the morning. Had a neck brace for 2 weeks! Damndest thing.
Watching this and then seeing that it was by Chappell Roan was WHIPLASH (side note I love Kaleidoscope)
That’s different than a sprain
Neck has to be one of the worst places to hear water
All the sudden I’m scared to crack my neck 😅
Redheads Rapping.... Hammer Time
This doesn't sound exactly like Super Freak to me, but I dig it.
this made me so afraid to pop my neck constantly like i do
Cool story bro.
That’s why I have a neck harness and train my neck. Now it’s strong af.
watched this video last night then i pulled something in my neck or something and now my neck has been hurting all day 😭
Yooo I was in jazz dance and ballet for a few years but one time while I was DOING THE DISHES I slipped on the tiniest speck of water on the floor you could possibly imagine and completely shredded all the insides of my knee. It was ridiculously painful and I couldn’t put any weight on my leg AT ALL without it collapsing under me.
One several hour long surgery and 12 weeks of physical therapy to learn how to walk again later and I was no longer allowed to dance, run, or “do anything that involves twisting motions” for the rest of my life! 😅
I’m now almost 30.
That all happened when I was 16.
It still gives me problems all the time and I’m reminded how it happened WASHING. THE. DISHES. not even from dance classes. 😂😂😂
(I also-jokingly!- give anyone 100% permission to use this story as a way to try to get out of doing the dishes sometime 🤣)
im scared now
NEW FEAR UNLOCKED😭😭😭😭😭😭
couldn’t believe she wrote this entire song just for tiktok
Thats some EDS/joint hypermobility and dysautonomia/POTS type shit yo lol
Hearing water in your neck? I was thinking CSF leak
What the hell Chappell 😟 thank you for sharing tho!
GIRL NOT TJE WATER IN YOUR NECK OMFG
0:49 Stroke damn
1:53 just a sprain !? Wow okay cause that’s the tell tell signs of minor stroke you’re lucky then
