    I know that this has been out for a couple of years. There are several of these videos on CZcams. I tried a few a couple of years ago w/o success. I came across this one and it worked great. I don't do light rays much, but found that I needed to do them again for an image. I stumbled around CZcams again w/o success, forgetting about this tutorial. I finally came across this one again, and AGAIN, it worked like a charm. Thanks. I enjoy your content.

    This is excellent! I happen to be working on "Painting With Light" in my Photoshop learning journey at the moment, so this is another tool in my arsenal. Thank you, Jesus, for adding the "fix" as well. A novice such as myself would have been stumped at that point in the process. :)

    Great demo - I gave up on Adobe's own version of almost exactly this technique. There is just such a gap between knowing something and knowing how to explain as well as you do.

    Jesús, thank you- that was really clear. Two quick questions. Instead of screen mode, could you use "blend if" to knock out the dark parts of the gradient? Also, is there any advantage or disadvantage to painting black on a mask to hide the gradient from certain places-- say, over subject's face-- instead of using white to paint it in? Thanks again

    • @PhotoshopTrainingChannel
      @PhotoshopTrainingChannel  Před 4 lety

      Joe, Blend If will give you similar results. But I would use it in conjunction with the Screen Blending Mode to make sure it only affects certain areas.
      As far as painting with black, that would work just as well. Up to you how you decide to work.
      I hope this helps!

    Thank you very much for the tutorial, it is very clear, however I have a question, in the final step you converted the gradient fill layer to a smart object, the gradient fill center moved, how to solve this?

    • @commandroid9336
      @commandroid9336 Před 4 lety

      Restarize layer before converting to smart objec. Or dont convert it to smart object at all

    Would grouping the gradient, hue/saturation and levels layers then adding a layer mask to the entire group cause the gradient to move about or does this overcome that issue doing it this way instead? Thanks Jesus 👍

    Or you can get even better results in two or three clicks using Luminar.
    I love your videos and your style, Jesus, and I learn a lot from them. I've commented this before. But for sun rays and most sky replacements Luminar is far simpler.
    And for anyone interested, Luminar's on sale through tomorrow for fifty bucks if you go through the Sony Alpha Rumors website (just scroll down to yesterdays announcements to find the three-day deal presumably ending tomorrow).
