Dual battery? ECOFLOW DELTA 2 overview on my Tacoma

- Hey guys! Ecoflow was kind enough to send out a delta 2 for me to test. So far im really liking it for my use case, heres how i have it setup in the truck. The bettery is 1024wh (80amp hours) i think 100-1500amp hour would be perfect and you would never have to think about it. I might expand capacity with one of their extra batteries.
FYI
EcoFlow is running largest Christmas Sales up to 50% OFF as we speak until December 26th, and get extra 5% OFF via code QMTIVIGM via either of the links below today!

Wow, Ecoflow is certainly hitting up all the CZcamsrs this year. Interesting.
Looks like they need a model with more dedicated 12v fused outlets which would be a No-brainer for overlanding.
Never really thought of that when looking at these portable power products.
Something important to note: check the total output, inverter and battery type along with warranty.
I was surprised to see pure sine wave, the ability to double the rated output for startup loads on 120v circuits and Lifpo battery used in the newer Ecoflow models but not all.
The 5 year warranty and 8 years anticipated life is longer than the older battery units and many of the competitors.
Yes they definitely have been doing a lot of promotions with CZcamsrs. Neat to see honestly I prefer watching others show a product then the actual company haha. I’m definitely on board with you on the multiple 12v outlets and of possible making one or more of them 15amp.
Gotta get the dometic off ac. Way more efficient on dc. I think eco flow has a battery that also runs off propane (mini generator) which looks pretty cool.
ya definitely, this is a rough draft of the setup, much room for refinement!
Seriously thank you so much for making this video!!!!
You answered so many things iv been thinking about the past couple months in regards to my build. Also love your editing style. Keep up the good work sir!
Oh good! Glad it’s helpful. Once I have more time with the unit I’ll share another more detailed video
Would be beneficial to run both hard mount solar panels and the portable ones. You would need to do a waterproof entry point into your camper with an Anderson plug for when you remove your camper. If you run your DC appliances all of DC voltage they will be more efficient, could do this by installing a power inverter to charge your generator and run all your electrical devices. I did the Anderson plug idea on a slide in camper that I put in the truck for extended trips year round, but ideas change and I'm leaning away from the slide in camper to a more all area traveling setup. Love your rig setup been watching from day one. I'm actually drawing up plans to build a bed for my rig with removable sides and tailgate, it will look closely to the bed of a Kaiser M715 when I'm all said and done.
Hell ya! I’ve been really debating all the options here too. So many different combinations and approaches. Building a bed for your truck is going to be really fun!
I see you decided on a thumbnail 😅 that was my favorite one. Haha love your channel!
Take my money Ecoflow. It is the fastest charging 1kWh power station that I have ever seen.
Stoked to see you putting more content on youtube!
Thank you! I would love to do a lot more. Working towards that in 2023
That looks like my next power statiion. Has a 1024Wh capacity and fully charges in 80 minutes.
You should run a 12v-48v DC to DC converter so you can charge faster on the DC charge circuit than with the cigarette lighter.
I Belive it charger at 450 instead of 100 from your cig charger.
I think that is the perfect set up
Man, this intro!!! 🙌🏻
ha thanks! just kinda slapped some clips in there.
That Delta 2 does fit it nicely in your Tacoma because it ain't that big and it ain't that heavy.
I did a dedicated installation with Battle Born batteries, renogy control, but still use a Echo Flow River Pro for portable power.
ah nice, seems like the best of both worlds right there
you got details on how you added the Auxbeam switch panel.
I am kinda liking that power station since it is expandable to 3kWh.
Hey where did you get the wire to charge the flow from the car battery?
Seems horribly inefficient running DC stuff off the inverter then back to DC converter especially the fridge. Is there only one 10amp DC on the box? 10amp should be enough for the fridge.
Yes 10amp is plenty for the fridge. The AC isn’t actually that much of a drag, I can monitor it with the app. But this is a quick setup, I plan to move the fridge to the DC circuit soon as it will be a better setup and only have to turn on AC for the diesel heater
FYI it does not support dual charging with A/C and solar at the same time it also will not accept any inputs if it is fully charged
Is there a way to charge it via cigarette outlet and solar at the same time? I have solar on top of my rig and would like it to charge it along with my vehicle charging it while I'm out and about on the trails
Uhm I don’t think so. The solar input is the same port as the car charging input so you have to unplug one to plug in the other
The best thing is that it has 5 year warranty that is rather long for a power station.
That was you in Alabama hills two weeks ago wasn’t it, not sure if you saw me stop and get my drone out, fly and then bounce. Maybe it wasn’t you. 😆
Maybe! I was there 11-12 December
Thanks for an awesome video! Curious if you’ve tried running the diesel heater off of the dc power on the unit? I have the new Ecoflow River 2 Max which has the same dc amps and my diesel heater will startup but ends up overloading once the glow plug on the heater shuts off and the watts drop down. Wondering if you had something similar happen since you’re running the heater off of ac power?
Yep exactly, it’s to high amp draw for the 10amp DC outlet and I kept getting voltage error codes on the diesel heater display.
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate the help!
The trick with the ecoflow to charge while driving is to set up an inverter and use the fast AC charger. The dc charger is way slow compared to the AC charger.
Have you tired that?
@@OverlandUnderBudget no but I've seen other people suggest it in fb groups I'm in. I was going to buy an ecoflow but when I realized how much it'd cost to get it charging fast while driving (i.e. buying a big inverter + thick wiring), I went the diy route. I built a 1280wh lifepo4 battery box that uses an Atem Power DC to DC and solar charger. Faster solar and vehicle charging than the ecoflow, and way more DC output. Only thing it doesn't have is Ecoflow's high AC output. I mostly use dc so I'm not worried about it. I still thinks ecoflows have an amazing value for the price. Especially now that they're even cheaper than they were when I built my setup a year ago!
@@OverlandUnderBudget you need a dc dc converter. Not a dc dc charger.
@@OverlandUnderBudget let me send you a great link for it. Best set up.

Great info, thanks for the video! How big is your fridge? I’m thinking of using a smaller eco flow product and solar panel to mainly power my Dometic 45 :)
Thanks! Mines a 35L fridge. Plenty big for how I eat at camp and the duration of my trips 2-4 days
@@OverlandUnderBudget 35L holds more than enough pancakes. Thanks man!
Converting from DC to Ac back to DC is robbing power. Can you put a “Y” on the 12v output?
Definitely, I just haven’t had time to do that. But I’ll make a nice clean instal of it soon. I have a dometic 2x 12v outlet kit that I have had laying around for a couple years haha. Going to place it near the fridge platform.
Have any suggestions for power back to the truck for situations where your main dies?
On my setup I could try charging my jump starter battery with eco flow, if the ECOFLOW is also dead then plug into solar if there is sun. If there is no sun, then lace up my running shoes haha
@@OverlandUnderBudgetthat’s what I’m trying to debate. Going with a hardline second battery or get a jump pack and go with the portable
@@caleb13frey nice to have a jump pack regardless. It’s possible to drain any battery or batteries.
8yrs of use would only degrade the battery 20%.
