    How’d I miss this! I’ve gotta get me a Montreal. Nice clean bucking as always. “Ironwood” is a generic term thrown around here for wood that’s unusually harder when cured than when green (all wood is of course), but hornbeam is one that cuts like cake when green but has a crazy hard heart when seasoned. The sapwood goes punky really quickly, but the core will beat your guts out.

      yeah this doesn't cut like cake at all, might seem like it in the video but i can assure you it's not fun

      I’ve cut it before. It’s pretty hard when green, very much like beech. But when cured, you’ll bang your guts out on it. It makes great firewood, which is why there isn’t much left around here. Regardless you made short work of it.

    Hornbeam is some tough wood.

    off topic, but can I ask you what kind of ochsenkopf double bit axe do you use? I heard there's more than one

    • @elemental4rce
      @elemental4rce  Před 3 lety +1

      there's two, both the same pattern but one comes on a premium (lol) 30" and the other on a hickory 36". the shorter is marketed as a throwing axe and sells for much more. The long version is painted yellow.
