- Ever since the Acolyte Episode 8 aka the Acolyte Finale on disney plus failed to reverse the backlash...the acolyte rotten tomatoes score has not resolved for both disney and lucasfilm as those like Leslye Headland and Kathleen Kennedy continue to defend the series and characters like osha and mae....one major development however has to do with Amandla Stenberg attacking the fans yet agina after her firing situation from several lucasfilm projects behind the scenes both as a result of bob iger and his cost cutting measures and her music video on social media that created much drama.

If there was a silent majority of quiet fans, then why weren't they watching this show? Simple answer, it was terribly written, terribly directed and terribly acted. Period.
What the reality of it is they are not catering to the current audience. They are trying to grow a new audience. If the movie is not directed to you then there is simply another target audience. If you follow the logic it's no surprise that views are low for a very very small "modern audience".

star wars was once about light and dark, good and evil, heroes and villains. And what made it great was that even a character like Luke could fall to the dark side in ROTJ, and even a seemingly irredeemable character like Darth Vader could return to the light side, a character who, as in reality, had become evil starting from the best of assumptions, but was human and made bad choices, and everyone could identify with these characters, regardless of ethnicity, religion and gender. How can Disney and Kathleen Kennedy think that the natural evolution of that franchise is a manifest in which to "fight" only for gender equality, as if this were the only problem in the world? they appropriated the story that most of all addressed the underlying problem in everything, the right and wrong choices, and made it a selfish banner to promote their sexist ideologies and indoctrinate the minds of children. Lucas studied mythology and made a work from which children could have a reference model in everything in their lives, now what LucasFilm promotes is that women are superior to men, period.
The majority of fans of star wars have no Issue with strong female characters. I think if they checked they would find alot of the fans loved Carrie Fisher as Leia and Natalie Portman as Padme. What the fans dont like is when the show is agenda driven instead of made to entertain the fans.
Both Fisher and Portman played strong leading women roles and it was loved because there was no ... messaging or Alphabet Mafia crap in it.
I wish they could make them more like Karlach from BG3 like she is a freaking tank, but people love her because she is allowed to have personality beyond being just that. I struggle to find anything unique with a lot of strong women characters in movies and tv shows and it’s pretty much becoming a new stereotype in writing these days. I guarantee it’s going to end up aging pretty poorly in the near future.
And It already had a female audience but they went ahead making a "horny Star wars" with light sabers and they probably thought that would draw in the sex and the city romcom audience and keep the existing audience happy as well but they somehow missed one of the most basic things when it comes to movies, people that like sci fi action doesnt like hot steamy rom coms and people that like hot steamy rom coms doesnt like sci fi action.
To double down on our point, Star Wars has always promoted diversity. You can't get a better example of a strong female heroine than princess Leia. The "toxic" fans are supposed to be the people that they're making these programs for. Film making is a business, you spend money to make a product that the fans want, so they give you their money and you make a profit. Unfortunately, they seem to believe that the fans are irrelevant to their public service announcement pushing their personal agenda. That's not a business model that works. Maybe Disney will wake up and get off this path when they lose enough money and realize that the "business" is failing, and nobody wants what they're selling.
She talks as if she is fixing a problem that didn't exist. Star Wars has always had strong female leads and POC leads. And is she there to change toxic fans or there to create more stories in an elaborate, beloved lore that we have had as part of our culture for close to 50 years? Further... if she were a better writer. then perhaps Sol's "benign sexism" would have been something we would have picked up on, not something that lives solely in her mind. But she can't even write what she wants to write and have it be effective.

The failure of the show has NOTHING to do with the sex or race of its main actress; it has entirely to do with the fact that the plot was horrible and openly flew in the face of established canon, and that the showrunner admittedly injected an agenda into a largely apolitical franchise. The showrunner prioritized her own agenda over quality, and the completely stone-faced acting of Amandla Stenberg certainly did not help. A brick wall would have been more riveting. But Amandla's comments demonstrate that she has NO understanding of the reasons the show was such a massive flop, and she takes no personal responsibility whatsoever. Rather, she chooses to attack the fans for their justifiable outrage at Headland's having taken a massive bowel movement on the franchise that they love, and blames it on wholly invented sexism or racism which had nothing to do with the outrage in the first place.

Having grown up with 80s horror movies, the "Final Girl" trope, strong women is not a foreign concept - strong women who overcome and come out victorious cheered on by an audience - old stuff .
Being a spoilt shit that people dont like, talking down to the audience is new - we like to identify with our heroes, supposed to be sympathetic, likeable that we wish well - wooden acting and lashing out against fans of the OG is not ok
I'm male and I love strong female roles, have never been opposed to them as she claims, Alien, Vicious Fun, Silence of the Lambs, etc, but what I am opposed to is utter garbage in every department, writing, directing, acting, storytelling. And Acolyte was all of that and more.

It's not about LGBTQI+, it's indeed about pushing an agenda. As a gay guy I always take offense at such self-anointed defenders of the community. It's just as bad as the haters, only from the other side. They simply fail to recognize that we're not a homogeneous mass and share different views, regardless of our sexual orientation and gender identity. That and of course a crappy Star Wars series simply remains a crappy Star Wars series. You couldn't save The Acolyte if every role was played by straight white men...

We also don't plan to vacation at the parks which we usually did every other year.
