I have heard many version of Lohengrin, but this is one of the best. I remember hearing live (radio) from Dresden Siegfried Jerusalem singing Lohengrin with Magdalena Hajossyowa as Elsa (that was many years ago). It was very good!
Severolus, YOU have sent that version with Jerusalem and Studer. I like it. I have another one with Studer and Paul Frey. But I can't say Frey is my favourite. I think Jerusalem has problems with high notes (aigus) but he is a good singer. Maybe his voices lacks flexibility since he started his career as a singer quite late.
I understand "nun wollen wir der Welt entronnen sein". The only German I know is from German operas. Do you mean that version of Lohengrin is not bad? I have this version (CD) with Jerusalem and Studer. I have 2 versions with P. Hofmann. Just that I never liked very much the women singing Elsa with Hofmann) I think Hajossyowa has a pure voice.I don't like singers with too much vibrato as Leonie Rysanek as Elsa. As we say in French, "tous les goûts sont dans la nature".
