Come on John. Stop patronizing this reporter.
Nobody aspires to be an "electronic' star. People have dreams of being a 'rock' star. Like yourself John. Most ,musicians dream of being the best guitarist. Or best drummer. Or best bass player. Nobody wants to be the best electronic player. Please man. Stop.

"When I was on drugs, I really froze. Being on drugs makes your development sort of freeze. You can't really develop as a person or expand your horizons as a person when you're on drugs, in my opinion." This is a pretty remarkable statement, compared to his words as a proud junkie when he looked like a corpse. I'm glad he survived that, and I hope anyone who might romanticize his near-death self-destruction will hear his perspective now, with an extra 25 years of life lessons and wisdom.

That depth of friendship and their positive, open-minded attitudes are as key to the end result as their musicianship. I cannot get enough of what this genius musician creates. Imagine getting to have a real conversation with him about music, life, his view on everything. He’s such a special soul (don’t know how else to put it) and I would have so many things to ask him and could never get tired of listening to him talk, play and sing. Everything he does is pure energy that comes from within his very being, his pure raw soul and reaches deep into ours. It’s simply amazing. Never felt anything like this from any other artist of any kind in the world; and to live a life where he exists and creates is a true blessing so thank you Mr. Frusciante for puting your soul out there for us and being the liaison between this reality and the universe out there where all our parallel existances and realities happen.
First time I ever listened to his playing and each time ever since beat the high of all the drugs I ever taken combined. Pure bliss!
Not a day goes by that I don’t listen to his music for at least an hour and I dream of meeting him and shaking those blessed magic hands. Which reminds me of the time Flea kneeled before him and kissed his hand during a concert; that I feel is the ultimate tribute to him and his work and in Fleas’ place I’d feel the same impulse to make the same gesture. I bow before a great man and a huge musician. I hope I’ll someday have the chance to do it in person; who knows, unlikelier things have happened.
PS: can’t wait to finally see him perform with the RHCP again!

He comes across as such a down to earth, decent and sensitive guy, they all do, despite having everything that the Rock band lifestyle affords.
I'm so glad he came through the other side before it was too late. Music is such a life force that one cannot do without and sometimes it's what saves a person from the trauma of life.
And anyone who likes the Bristol Massive and drum n bass 👊👏😍

This is a great interview John sounds so clear here seems like he's happy and accepting his place to be in the Peppers and finally putting things to rest for all the worried RHCP fans that there will no electronic music in the new Peppers album it will be all guitars even though he plays keyboards a little in previous RHCP albums some of the fans forgot about that and if he's excited to be back in the band than i'm excited i believe we think we're ready for them this year but truthfully we're not i think 2021 will be their year with a new album hopefully a new tour and next year will be the 30th anniversary of BSSM so hopefully we might get a deluxe edition of the album with Funky Monks on DVD or Blu-ray as a bonus and hopefully they might perform the whole album in their tour next year like U2 did for The Joshua Tree in their tour

Great interview! Its very reassuring that the peppers are BACK!!! Although i hope josh still has some involvement even if its just touring with them(whenever the hell that happens again). Tbh i like the 2 albums they released with him on it more then stadium arcadium. So excited either way i never get tired of listening to RHCP!

Awesome to hear from him. Thanks John! I'm a huge fan of both the chili peppers and jungle/hardcore (just starting to discover it really), so it's really interesting to hear John's story in that regard, especially because I was a peppers fan first.

Great interview. John sounds quite grounded and at ease. In some of his past interviews he talks in an ethereal, trailing off kind of way. But he’s a smart guy so he has a lot of thoughts to express. Can’t wait for new material with RHCP and Frusciante
