Miracle in Cleveland: Charles Ramsey talks about Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight

- 10 years ago this coming Saturday, Charles Ramsey was among those who became internationally famous as part of the Miracle in Cleveland.
Ramsey says he heard screams coming from the house on Seymour Avenue on that night in May 2013, the night Gina, Amanda and Michelle finally broke out of that house where Ariel Castro kept them captive for almost a decade.
After hearing the screams, Ramsey went to check it out and along with others, helped the girls escape.
WKYC news anchor Russ Mitchell talked with Charles Ramsey the day after the 3 women were found.

I'm from Cleveland. I always gave kudos to Channel 3 WKYC for having Charles in the studio live, on the news, with the main anchors, and let him be himself un-edited and completely natural. No other local TV station would do that for some obvious reasons.

Plain and simple. Charles Ramsey is a hero. Charles Ramsey did what probably most of us would have not done. Alot of people wouldn't want to get involved. I might've even ignored the screams. Not deliberately. I'm just glad that Charles decided to go to the house and kick in the door. You never know something like that might happen and you have to think quickly. I'm just so glad that Charles did take the initiative and saved those women's lives. He's a true hero.

True story. When this was breaking news, I was with my grandfather and while this was breaking, my grandfather mentioned he grew up... literally 2 houses down. Obviously there are different homeowners now, but the look on my grandfathers face when this story broke, broke his heart
Michelle Knight was treated a lot worse by the sicko kidnapper AND the news! Not too sure why but I feel so bad for her, rejection even after going through the world's worst nightmare. I bought her book to try to support her in my own little way. I hope all the poor women have happy lives now.

I wondered that too. Someone said she didn’t get as much coverage as the other 2 girls because she was considered an adult when she went missing. But her age shouldn’t have mattered. She was there against her will just like the other 2 girls.
